Meet Bentley ⚡ Your future adventure buddy in the making Bentley is a high-energy, playful guy who’s looking for an active home ready to help him grow and thrive. He’s a free spirit with a goofy streak, always ready to move, explore, and have some fun. We’re still getting to know him, but one thing is clear — he’s going to shine with the right guidance and structure. A few things about Bentley: • A true ball of energy who would love an active lifestyle 🌄 • Playful and goofy, with a big personality • Would do best in an experienced household committed to training • Learning leash skills and life skills — manners are a work in progress 🐕 • Good for vet care and handling 🩺 • Will require periodic grooming ✂️ • Because of his energy level, a home without small children would be best • Dog and cat compatibility still to be determined — stay tuned as we learn more! Bentley is full of potential and just needs the right outlet for his energy and enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a fun, active companion and are willing to continue his training journey, Bentley could be your perfect match 💙 📍 The Center for Animal Health and Welfare PA Kennel License #02941 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Flash, the charming 10 year old poodle with a heart full of love. Weighing just 15 pounds, Flash has found comfort in a loving and patient foster home, where he's doing great! This cutie walks nicely on a leash and enjoys car rides and playing with toys. Flash’s ideal home would be with adults or older teens who can offer him a calm and predictable environment. Flash’s owner was male and, believe it or not, he is most comfortable with them. Young children, while wonderful, would be a bit too much for this sensitive soul.  Flash would do best as an only dog so that he can calmly acclimate to his home. He has been through quite a bit and will definitely need some patience and time.  Look at Flash enjoying the snow here: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2612209105830481 He’s neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations, so he’s ready to start his next chapter. Could that be with you? If you're ready to give Flash the loving forever home he deserves, please fill out an application at njshpetrescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 13, 2026, 9:33 am

Story
We bought Tucker at 18 weeks. The sellers lied in their ad. They brought him out and he was skin and bones with hair matted with feces, he was shaking and visibly petrified. We brought him home and he became EXTREMELY attached to me. He doesn’t let me out of his site. He started destroying anything he could get to and peeing and pooping in the house. In the car, he’s petrified… in his cage he pees and poops, or he tries to open the door to the cage with his paws and mouth… they will be pink on his snout and paws from blood. On the other hand, he’s very affectionate and so sweet. He just needs somewhere quiet where he can get a lot of affection and a backyard. We live in a townhouse with no fenced in yard.My heart is broken, I never thought I would ever be doing this. But I can see the anxiety in his eyes and all of the frustration from my family is getting worse and worse.

Story
This precious little girl is 1-2 yrs old and weighs 11 lbs. Cameo was found as a stray on the streets of TX and was saved by Shaggy Dog Rescue. She has made her way to Norwalk, CT where she is living in a foster home with one other dog. She is a poodle mix with 3 other breeds thrown in for good luck. Cameo (aka Cammie) is a very sweet and affectionate girl and loves her toys- she will run around the house and squeak her favorite ones! She is slightly shy when meeting new people but can be very quickly won over with a treat. She loves her treats and is very smart- and has mastered new tricks/commands with ease... as long as a tasty treat is involved! She likes other dogs and will share with her dog bed or spot on the couch with her buddies, but prefers to steal all the toys for herself! She is a relatively laid back dog who will play for a little while and then really enjoys a good nap on the couch next to or on top of her foster mom! She walks really well on a leash and also loves to run around the yard and explore. She will be a great companion for someone she loves sitting on laps and getting lots of petting, she’s a sweet little girl with lots of love to give. all of our dogs are spayed/neutered and have received the following vaccines Rabies.Dhpp, Bordatella and Canine Influenza.. all are microchipped and have been started on monthly preventives for Heartworms, Fleas, Ticks and Parasites We adopt to experienced pet owners and complete a vet review of your past or current dogs , The application is on www.houstonshaggydogrescue.org THE ADOPTION FEE IS $400

Story
Update 4/26: We have to completely redo Cheddar’s bio, it’s all lies now! No more scaredy-doodle, he’s an excited happy playful puppy now that he’s come out of his shell. He jumps and kisses meeting new people, loves to play with other dogs does fast zoomies around the yard. He’s about 1-2 years old but still has puppy energy, 20lbs full grown, and ready for a home. He can get a little nervous being picked up and his collar grabbed but has gotten much more comfortable about everything now. Our CheezDoodle is looking for a quiet but active adult home that can keep up with his fun puppy energy. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Cheddar in Northern NJ His origin story: Say “cheese”! 🧀 📸 Meet Cheddar, the scaredy-doodle! This young man was abandoned locally, his background a mystery. He was already neutered and recently groomed but no one came to claim him at the shelter 🤷‍♀️. He is a nervous guy who can get defensive with quick movements and some handling/being picked up but sweet and needy if allowed to warm up and come to you on his terms. He stares at you and has full conversations like he’s trying to desperately communicate something but we aren’t sure exactly what. Is he hungry? Want a walk? Playtime? Did Timmy fall down the well? 🤷‍♀️. He definitely looks like he was loved and cared for at one point and we wish he could actually talk and tell us his story. He’s warming up to other dogs and even starting to play with them a little and we can see he has great potential. We think he’s a mini golden doodle, mini labradoodle, or maybe just a big mini poodle, about 22lbs and 2 years old. He’s seen out vet (that was a bit dramatic 😳 a muzzle was involved), been updated on shots and is ready to find a calmer adult home that will go slow, respect his space and give him time to bond and adjust. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Cheddar the doodle in Northern NJ… (dammit we should have just named him Cheezdoodle! 🤦‍♀️ what a wasted opportunity!) Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
