Story
This is Sweet Pea. He is 14 years old. Sweet Pea and Aubrey were surrendered together by the same person—right before the holidays. This is the part people never see. Not the paperwork. Not the drop-off. The shaking. The confusion. The panic when their entire world disappears. Dogs don’t understand “we can’t keep you.” They don’t understand “we’ve decided.” They only understand: You were here. Now you aren’t. Compassion without action feels nice. Action saves lives. Kind words are comforting. Homes change fate. Sweet Pea doesn’t need pity. He needs a place to land. About Sweet Pea 🐾 • 📍 Tuscaloosa, AL • 🐶 14 years old • 💊 On medication for arthritis • ✂️ Recently neutered (after 14 years) • 🩲 Does mark, but does well with a belly band since neutering • 🚐 Transport available to the Northeast • 🏡 Needs a forever (or foster) home to feel safe again He has loved before. He has lost everything. Please don’t let him lose hope too. Adoption Fee: $250 Currently located in Fosters, AL and can be transported North to an adopter for an additional $200. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Milo was rescued from a severely neglectful home where he suffered greatly. Do you have the love and home he truly deserves? Milo would thrive best in an adult-only household that provides a very structured environment. Leader of the Pack is offering a six-week training course to help him adjust and succeed in his forever home. Please note that he has a high prey drive, so he cannot be placed in a home with children or other animals. Additionally, you must live within an hour of the rescue to adopt him. Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Alfie to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Alfie ultimately finalizing his adoption. From the moment Alfie arrived in our arms at just eight weeks old, it was clear he was a little soul who had already been deeply loved. His prior owner brought him to us with a very heavy heart. After losing her husband and suddenly becoming the only caretaker in her home, she realized that although her desire for companionship was strong, the timing simply wasn’t right for her to take on the needs of a growing puppy. Wanting only the very best future for him, she made the brave and loving choice to entrust him to us so he could find the life she wished she could give him. And truly… this little boy is something special. Alfie is a purebred Miniature Poodle with a soft, beautiful coat and a naturally sweet, intuitive nature. He currently weighs 6 lbs and is expected to mature around 10–12 lbs—small enough to be the perfect lap companion, but sturdy enough to join you in your day-to-day adventures. His temperament is remarkable: affectionate, bright, deeply social, and so eager to bond. He is one of those rare puppies who wears joy so naturally that you feel it simply by being in his presence. He adores people and naturally gravitates toward connection—cuddling against you during quiet moments, gently curling up beside you at night, or following you from room to room as if every part of your world fascinates him. He sleeps beautifully in bed with you, but he is also crate trained and will settle comfortably if a crate-at-night routine fits better in your home. Around other dogs, Alfie shines just as brightly. He is playful, respectful, and wonderfully social—one of those dogs who instantly makes friends wherever he goes. He’s been fantastic at the groomers, enjoys little road trips around town, and carries an innate curiosity that will make exploring the world alongside him truly special. House training is going wonderfully so far. He follows a reliable schedule every couple of hours and also understands puppy pads if needed. Leash training has just begun now that his vaccines are complete, and given his intelligence and eagerness to please, we expect he’ll catch on quickly. He is very much a puppy ready to step confidently into the world. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/alfie It covers all of his veterinary care to date (vaccines, microchip/registration, fecal testing, deworming, his full exam, and his issued health certificate), as well as the months of care, meals, grooming upkeep, and the early training foundation he has received with us. Every adoption directly supports our ability to continue rescuing and preparing dogs like Alfie for the beautiful lives they deserve. Alfie is one of those puppies who feels like a gift the moment you meet him—soft-hearted, emotionally attuned, and overflowing with the kind of warmth that makes a home feel fuller and brighter. Whoever opens their heart to him will be gaining a lifelong friend who gives his whole heart in return.

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 15th 2026 to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Griff to our trip for the right home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! His adoption fee, along with his adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Griff ultimately finalizing his adoption. Meet Griffin, affectionately known as “Griff” — and yes, he truly loves his nickname. Born on Valentine’s Day (2/14/24), Griff is a little love through and through, the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes and leaves a lasting impression on every heart he meets. Griff is a Poodle/Maltese mix, weighing 12.4 lbs fully grown, and he is right where he should be - healthy, balanced, and beautifully proportioned. His temperament matches his looks perfectly: outgoing, affectionate, joyful, and incredibly easy to love. He greets every person he meets with a wagging tail and happy kisses, genuinely thrilled to make a new friend. He carries a confident but gentle energy that makes him feel immediately familiar, like he’s always belonged. He is wonderful with other dogs and truly enjoys playful companionship. Griff loves to romp around and would thrive in a home with a sweet, playful canine friend. That said, if he were to become someone’s one and only, he would shine just as brightly. He bonds deeply with his humans and is more than happy to fill his days hanging out, relaxing, and simply being part of whatever life brings. He has that special quality of being adaptable, content playing when it’s time to play, and perfectly happy settling in when it’s time to relax. Griff is not high energy, but don’t mistake that for laziness, he loves walks and can absolutely keep up. Walks are one of his favorite things, and he approaches them with enthusiasm and joy. Around the house, his manners are excellent. He listens well, responds beautifully, and is very food motivated, which has made his training progress a pleasure to watch. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night without issue, and he is house trained, typically going outside every 3–4 hours. Griff also loves car rides of any length and makes a wonderful road trip companion. He is not a barker, but he will politely alert you to unfamiliar noises, making him attentive without being excessive. Overall, Griff is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into a home — affectionate, well-mannered, intuitive, and deeply loving. He is the perfect blend of playful companion and calm best friend, and he is truly ready to give his whole heart to the family who chooses him. His Adoption Fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/griff It Griffin’s neuter, vaccines, microchip/registration, and exam with our veterinarian. An additional cost has been added to cover his grooming immediately prior to his neuter, as well as the long-acting antibiotic injection administered to aid in his neuter recovery. This injectable antibiotic is more costly than oral medication but is recommended, as it remains consistently in his system for the full two weeks during healing. As always, Griffin’s adoption fee also reflects the months of care, continued grooming, and training he has received while with us. Griff is ready, ready to love, ready to belong, and ready to become someone’s best friend for life. 💛

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Flash, the charming 9-year-old poodle with a heart full of love. Weighing just 15 pounds, Flash has found comfort in a loving and patient foster home, where he's doing great! This cutie walks nicely on a leash and enjoys car rides and playing with toys. Flash’s ideal home would be with adults or older teens who can offer him a calm and predictable environment. Flash’s owner was male and, believe it or not, he is most comfortable with them. Young children, while wonderful, would be a bit too much for this sensitive soul.  Flash would do best as an only dog so that he can calmly acclimate to his home. He has been through quite a bit and will definitely need some patience and time.  He’s neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations, so he’s ready to start his next chapter. Could that be with you? If you're ready to give Flash the loving forever home he deserves, please fill out an application at njshpetrescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 30, 2025, 4:02 pm

Story
Meet Motas 🐾 Motas does things his own way, but he’s got a soft heart for the right person 💙 A few things about him: • Motas is independent and a little aloof at first—he likes to size you up before giving his attention • He’s smart and quick to learn when motivated, but can be a bit stubborn and has a “spicy” personality 🌶️ • Best suited for a quiet, mellow home with older kids who respect his need for space • Low-shedding and will need occasional grooming to stay looking sharp ✂️ • Training on basics is a work in progress, and he’ll do best with someone patient who understands his unique vibe • Not a lap dog on day one, but with time and trust, he reveals his loyal, loving side ❤️ If you appreciate a dog with brains, personality, and a mellow attitude, Motas might be the perfect fit for you. 📍The Center for Animal Health and Welfare PA Kennel License #02941 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042
