Story
*Please note: Flower's house-training status is currently unknown as she is still transitioning from the shelter into foster care. Petfinder does not provide an “unknown” option, so this field may not accurately reflect her current status. We will update her profile as we learn more.* There's nothing quite like young dog energy and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These very loving and sweet young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill shelter that's run out of space. Flower is believed to be a Schnauzer / Cairn Terrier mix. Farfel's does not DNA test rescue dogs, so this is just an educated guess. Flower, at just about 3 years old and a tiny 11 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this very sweet girl with the great temperament..they rescued Flower just in time to spare her life. Flower, while initially a bit shy and frightened (a long transport between Texas and Colorado is very scary!) is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our wonderful Flower is undeniably beautiful. Her scruffy coat is currently shelter-sad and in need of grooming. Once our gorgeous girl is on a regular protocol of excellent nutrition and loving care, her coat will return to the beauty that her breed mix is known for. Flower, while initially a bit hesitant until comfortable in her new environment, is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Our cuddly girl would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog to snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. Flower is SO smart and engaging once comfortable in her home - very typical of a Scottie Dog / Schnauzer mix. Since Flower is just a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Flower will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience Classes. This is a regimen of training classes that will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and her relationship with her people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Flower out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this experience. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Flower finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart young dog. Flower seems to enjoy her relationships with humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in both a dog and child's development. Flower will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to support the need for for a euthanasia - free future in the canine population Flower will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 1//3/2026 Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE If you're truly interested in adopting Flower, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.

Story
Jake is a 2-3 year old, 20lb Schnauzer/Poodle mix (maybe? we don't actually know his breeds, it's all a guess).  Jake was found as a stray and dumped a shelter in Kansas.  He was with a couple other dogs when he was found but was the least terrified out of all of them.  The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could bring him into our foster program and help him come out of his shell and learn how to be a dog.  He has now been with us for a couple months and is ready to find his forever family!  When he was first found he was super matted and had a thick, dirty coat so he was completely shaved down.  His fur is starting to grow out again.  He has super soft, fluffy fur, and seems to be mostly non-shedding, but we cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic since we don't know his background.  He will need regular grooming appointments though to keep him looking handsome and feeling great.   Jake has really started to blossom and learn all that life has to offer as a loved and cherished dog.  He seems to be a dog who picks one human to really bond with.  He follows his foster dad around the house everywhere and loves to snuggle with him.  He would do great in a lower key home with a human or humans who will be patient with him and let him learn to trust them at his own pace.  We know he will bond with his forever human the same way he has with his foster dad, he just needs to be given the time to do so.  He does well with cats and we will require he goes to a home with another dog so he can continue to learn from the behaviors of a confident dog.  Jake does great on a leash and is learning to loves walks around the neighborhood, romping around the backyard with the other dogs, and snuggling up with the other dogs and his foster dad during down time.   If you are interested in giving Jake a forever home, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2433456##

Story
Nala is a 2(ish) year old Schnauzer/Terrier mix weighing about 15lbs.  Nala was found as a stray in Mexico.  Our of our wonderful rescue partners down south was asked to take her in.  We knew Nala would find a wonderful home here in Colorado, so we agreed to accept Nala here in Colorado.  Nala has been here for a couple weeks now, and the most amazing, easy going girl.  She gets along great with all dogs big and small.  She absolutely loves to snuggle with her foster parents and give kisses.  She is doing well with potty training and follows the other dogs lead.  She is getting more and more playful with the dogs dogs in the foster home and is really just turning into the most amazing little girl.   If you are interested in adopting Nala, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2587250##

Story
"Pinto is a 1-year-old, 26-lb schnauzer mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s a smart, food-motivated boy who loves learning and thrives with positive reinforcement. Pinto is excellent in the car, makes a great running buddy, and is a stranger to no one. He’s working on his crate training and can be a bit barky when left alone, so a home without shared walls is best. He’s dog-friendly and very playful with people, always happy to engage and have fun. He has briefly been around kids and he was playful and social. Pinto would be a great fit for an active home that enjoys training, playtime, and companionship. He’s ready to be someone’s loyal best friend!" Pinto is being fostered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/pinto/. Story
This tiny little fighter was born with a significant heart murmur, so he will need an adopter who is able to provide for him financially if heart surgery (PDA) is the route of health he needs in the future. Grayson is a tiny 2 pound 1 oz, 8 week old male, purebred miniature schnauzer. He is full of life and loves pouncing on toys, getting snuggles, and giving kisses. He is bound to melt your heart with his teeny fighter spirit and itty bitty kisses. Generally, the course of action for a heart murmur is watch and wait, and see how he is doing at 6 months and again at one year. This, of course, will need to be overseen buy a vet. If at either time surgery is necessary, it will be a few thousand dollars and up for the needed repair. Grayson's adopter will need to be able to take on this financial responsibility upon adopting, but the rescue can offer advice on doctors and possible protocols if desired! Grayson will be adopted out without being neutered at this time due to his heart condition. He cannot be adopted into any home with a female dog who has not been spayed. Adopter will need to have his heart condition assessed before neutering and then neutered at one of Big Bones Canine Rescue approved veterinarians. Big Bones will pay for the neuter only. If you have the heart to help this itty bitty cutie apply for Grayson!
