Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Johnny Bravo finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Johnny Bravo | 2 yrs | Schnauzer/Poodle mix | Tiny dude, big feelings, loyal to his person Johnny Bravo (“JB”) is a smart, affectionate little guy who bonds deeply with his person and loves nothing more than being close—resting his head on you, showing off his prance, or proudly carrying around his favorite toy. At 17 pounds, this black and gray cutie is the perfect size for snuggles and adventures alike. He’s house trained, sleeps through the night without accidents, and does well with a consistent potty routine, though like many dogs, accidents can happen in a new environment as he adjusts. JB knows several commands like sit, stay, come, and leave it, and while he can get distracted, his intelligence really shines when he’s focused—especially if cheese is involved. JB thrives on structure, routine, and mental enrichment. He enjoys multiple daily “wanders” (short, low-pressure outings in quieter areas), puzzle toys, and chew bones. While traditional walks can be stressful due to leash reactivity, he’s been making progress with a trainer and does well in calm environments where he can explore at his own pace. At home, he settles nicely after activity and is content to relax with his person. He can be crated for a few hours and may whine initially, but he does settle with time and consistency. Because of past trauma, JB has some sensitivities and needs an experienced, infinitely patient adopter who understands spicy little dogs and will give him the time, space, and consistency he needs to feel safe. He does not like certain areas of his body being touched and may react if pushed too far, so reading and respecting his cues is essential. He should be the only pet in the home and is not a fit for homes with children. JB is also not suited for apartment living—he needs a quiet, single-family home where he won’t be overstimulated by noise. JB’s story is one of resilience—he came from a difficult past where he was chained outside and survived a severe dog attack that left him hospitalized for weeks. Despite everything, he is incredibly loving, loyal, and eager to connect with his person. He will require ongoing support, including continued training, regular grooming, and likely anxiety management, but for the right person, JB is an incredibly rewarding companion. This cutie pie will need some extra guidance as he continues his journey to the amazing life he deserves, but he’ll more than repay that time and effort with his loyalty and love.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $500. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
** If you are interested in adopting Yoda, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Yoda! Yoda is an adorable, 1 year old, 25 lb Terrier mix. We are not sure his exact breeds, as we do not DNA test our rescue dogs, but the vets believe he could be a Schnauzer / Border Terrier mix. Yoda was found as a stray in Texas and ended up in a crowded shelter with very little known about his past. What we do know is that he’s now safe, heading to Colorado, and getting his fresh start with our rescue. Even with such a mysterious background, Yoda has already shown us his sweet and easygoing personality. He is friendly with people and gets along well with other dogs, making him a great candidate for a home with a canine companion or as a solo pup who enjoys social outings and playdates. Like many young terriers, he has a curious, observant nature. He’s the kind of dog who likes to take in his surroundings, follow his nose, and check in with his person as he explores. At just around a year old, Yoda is still very much a young dog, which means he’s likely to have that fun mix of playful energy and affectionate snuggles once he’s settled into a stable home. He may need a bit of guidance as he learns the routines of home life, but he seems eager to connect and bond with people who will show him consistency, patience, and love. Yoda is looking for a home that will continue his journey with him, teaching him what it means to be a cherished companion and giving him all the love he’s been waiting for. Farfel's Rescue and our Texas rescue partners would love to see Yoda in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see him left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home, as he is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Yoda in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Yoda is up to date on his vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
