Story
Meet Monty: The Gentle Soul Thriving in Foster Care Monty is a mellow, kind-hearted gentleman who’s discovering the joys of soft beds, warm blankets, and—most importantly—loving companionship. Now thriving in a foster home, he’s learning what it means to be cherished and safe, and he’s blossoming with every passing day. This quiet guy lives for calm snuggles, slow walks, and delicious meals (he’s very food motivated and will give you his best chirp and spin when it’s dinnertime!). Monty recently had all his teeth removed, so he enjoys soft meals served on a lick plate—he considers it gourmet dining. He’s wonderful with other dogs and happy to share his space with furry friends, but what Monty truly thrives on is human connection. Once he feels comfortable, he’s a loyal, affectionate companion who loves to lay by your side or curl up on your lap for a nap. His soulful eyes will tell you everything you need to know—this boy is full of love. Monty is potty trained, uses the doggy door, and walks nicely on a leash. He’s looking for a calm, understanding home where he can continue this new chapter surrounded by kindness and patience. If you’re ready to open your heart to a sweet soul who simply wants to be loved, Monty is waiting for you. 🐾 Available now at National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado!

Story
Nala is a 2(ish) year old Schnauzer/Terrier mix weighing about 15lbs.  Nala was found as a stray in Mexico.  Our of our wonderful rescue partners down south was asked to take her in.  We knew Nala would find a wonderful home here in Colorado, so we agreed to accept Nala here in Colorado.  Nala has been here for a couple weeks now, and the most amazing, easy going girl.  She gets along great with all dogs big and small.  She absolutely loves to snuggle with her foster parents and give kisses.  She is doing well with potty training and follows the other dogs lead.  She is getting more and more playful with the dogs dogs in the foster home and is really just turning into the most amazing little girl.   If you are interested in adopting Nala, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2587250##

HIGHLIGHTS -Requires a confident dog already established in the home. Meet Digit – A Shy but Social Schnauzer with a Heart of Gold Say hello to Digit, a 6-year-old Miniature Schnauzer weighing 9.6 pounds. This sweet boy might start off a little shy, but once he’s comfortable, his friendly and playful personality shines through. Digit does well with “wait,” gentle touch, and pick up in his kennel — he might give a little grumble at first, but it’s just his way of expressing uncertainty. Once he realizes you mean well, he settles right in and does great. He’s food motivated and eager to please, which makes him a wonderful candidate for continued training and bonding through treats. In playgroup, Digit is very dog-oriented and truly comes alive around his canine friends. He initiates play and enjoys the company of other dogs, showing his confident and social side when surrounded by furry pals. Digit is looking for a loving, patient home — ideally one with another friendly dog — where he can keep building confidence and enjoy plenty of playtime. With gentle guidance and affection, Digit will reward his family with loyalty, joy, and endless tail wags. ---------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

HIGHLIGHTS -Requires a confident dog already established in the home. -Requires a secure yard or a plan to leash train and keep her safe ##### Chardonnay – A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom Chardonnay is a 6-year-old, 12-pound Miniature Schnauzer with a calm, sensitive nature and the sweetest eyes you’ll ever see. While she’s naturally shy, she’s been slowly building trust and confidence—especially when it comes to being handled. She’s making quiet progress every day, but Chardonnay will need a patient, experienced adopter who is willing to continue working on her handling skills. Gentle, consistent interactions are key to helping her feel safe and supported as she continues her journey. Because the outside world can still feel overwhelming, Chardonnay requires a secure yard where she can safely explore and decompress without pressure. She also needs a calm, confident dog already established in the home, as she takes cues from other dogs and finds comfort in their presence. Chardonnay has a peaceful personality and doesn’t ask for much—just a calm home where she can relax, observe, and build trust at her own pace. She would do best in a quieter household without a lot of hustle and bustle, where her gentle spirit can truly shine. Due to her shy nature and need for familiarity, Chardonnay will require a second meet-and-greet prior to adoption, to help her feel comfortable and begin forming a connection with her future family. If you have the patience, experience, and a steady canine companion to help guide her, Chardonnay could be the perfect addition to your heart and home. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. #### HIGHLIGHTS -Requires another confident dog already established in the home -Needs a fenced in yard -Needs an experienced adopter Meet Showboat – A Playful Spirit on Her Own Terms Showboat is a 12.5-pound female Miniature Schnauzer with a big personality and a love for toys. Though she’s not yet used to being around people and is very uncomfortable with handling, her playful side shines through the moment a toy rolls her way. She gets so excited for toys—chasing balls, chewing bones, and lighting up during playtime with her kennel mates. That joyful energy is helping her build confidence, and every day she’s learning a little more about the world outside her comfort zone. Showboat is still very nervous about human interaction and is being introduced to handling slowly. She requires a confident, established dog in the home to help guide her and show her the ropes. She also needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands the needs of fearful dogs and can support her progress without pressure. A securely fenced yard is essential, giving her space to explore and play safely as she continues building trust at her own pace. Because of her sensitivity and need for careful introductions, Showboat will require a second meet and greet prior to adoption to ensure it’s a good match for both her and her future family. --- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet.
