Story
Brandy is a six-year-old, 15-pound Mini Schnauzer with a soft, tender presence and a heart that is just beginning to open. She carries herself with a calm sweetness, the kind that feels like a quiet exhale after a long day. This lovely girl is timid and shy, and may take a little time to warm up to new people and new environments. She is still learning to trust and takes in the world with cautious curiosity and a gentle spirit. With patience and understanding, Brandy will continue to grow in confidence at her own pace. She comes out of her shell when playing with other dogs in playgroup and appears to gain comfort and confidence through canine companionship. Because of this, she would do best with another confident canine companion already established in the home to help her feel secure and supported as she adjusts. Brandy has a naturally calm demeanor and seems perfectly suited for the slower, softer side of life. A cozy couch, a warm blanket, and a peaceful home where she can feel safe would be her dream come true. For someone willing to offer patience and a gentle environment, Brandy will be a quiet, loving presence who brings a soft kind of joy. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Benjie is a lovable 20-month-old Mini Schnauzer who wins the hearts of everyone he meets—both canine and human. He walks nicely on a leash, enjoys playtime with his toys, and sleeps soundly through the night for at least eight hours in his own bed. Benjie thrives best when he has the company of another dog, especially when left alone, as he enjoys their companionship. He’s a playful and affectionate boy who needs some supervision during play to make sure he doesn’t accidentally chew on anything he shouldn’t. Benjie has Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD), a chronic digestive condition that requires ongoing management. He is on a prescribed diet that is essential to keeping his digestive system healthy. He cannot have any other food, treats, table scraps, or chews outside of his prescribed diet, as doing so can cause digestive upset and flare-ups. He also has a condition causing occasional minor fecal incontinence, and at night, Benjie wears a reusable diaper as his stool needs to stay soft to avoid straining which is a result of a surgery previously needed to correct an issue that could recur if not carefully managed. Benjie’s eats specialized food (Hydrolyzed proteins) and takes MiraLAX to help with this and usually goes potty in the morning, sometimes midday, and before bed. After his bowel movements, he often needs a quick rinse to help keep him clean. In addition, Benjie needs to have his anal glands expressed by a veterinarian approximately once a month as part of his ongoing medical care. He is potty trained to go outside and prefers to poop off leash. If he’s outside and not finished, he may pull away to avoid coming back inside. Benjie is smart and will follow you or jump on you if he needs to go out. When asked about potty, he will head to the door to let you know. If left home for more than two hours, Benjie needs access to a potty pad, as his food contains a lot of water and he needs to relieve himself every 2–3 hours during the day, but sleeps through the night without any actual potty accidents. Despite his medical needs, Benjie is a happy, affectionate little dog who loves people and other dogs, loves to be held and snuggled especially in the evening. His routine sounds like a lot but it becomes second nature once established, and in return you'll have a sweet, playful companion who will happily steal your heart. ------ Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog. Homes with older children are often a good fit, depending on temperament. To learn more about NMDR and our adoption process, please visit our website.

***Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*** We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Gregory is a young 7 month old, fun-loving, playful puppy with a big personality and lots of enthusiasm for life. Like most young dogs, he’s full of energy and loves to spend his days playing with toys, exploring, and making new friends. Gregory enjoys playing with other dogs, especially those around his size (about 35–50 lbs), and he’s always ready for a good game of chase or wrestling in the yard. Gregory is outgoing, curious, and very affectionate with his people. He loves attention and will happily curl up on your lap after a day of play. He greets new people with excitement and friendliness, and his playful spirit makes him a joy to be around. Because he’s still a young puppy, Gregory is learning the basics of good dog manners. He is currently working on things like leash skills, potty training, and basic commands. He walks on a leash fairly well but is still learning to stay close, and he can sometimes get excited when he sees other dogs. With consistency and positive training, Gregory will continue to grow into a wonderful companion. Gregory has plenty of puppy energy and would do best with an active adopter who can give him regular exercise, playtime, and training. Another playful dog in the home could be a great match for him, but it isn’t required as long as he gets plenty of attention and activity. Since Gregory is still young and learning, he would likely do best in a home without small children. He is affectionate and loves to be close to his people, making him a great companion for someone looking for a loyal and playful best friend. If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic pup who will keep you smiling and growing right alongside you, Gregory might be the perfect addition to your family. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
Fame is a 10-year-old Miniature Schnauzer weighing 9 lbs, with a charming and spirited personality. She can be a bit shy at first but loves the company of her dog friends and enjoys participating in playgroup, where her social side shines. Fame requires another confident dog already established in the home to help her adjust, build confidence, and feel secure. She also requires a secure fenced-in yard where she can safely explore and feel comfortable in her environment. Fame is very vocal and isn’t afraid to let everyone know what she’s thinking. She is still nervous about handling and is continuing to build trust with humans, so she needs a calm, patient home willing to go at her own pace while she learns to feel safe. With consistent kindness and gentle encouragement, Fame has started warming up, accepting pets, and enjoying treats. She especially loves being pampered in the grooming room, where she gets to feel special and cared for. Fame’s personality is full of charm, and she’s looking for an adopter who will continue nurturing her confidence while appreciating her unique and expressive nature. If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited, and social little companion with plenty of personality, Fame could be the perfect addition to your family. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Story
Meet Shaun, a sweet senior who deserves a second chance. Shaun is guessed to be a 13 year-old Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix). At some point Shaun gave his whole heart to someone he knew love and then one day found himself at a California shelter confused, heartbroken and and left behind in his golden years. Shaun will require someone that’s home most of the time, since he has dementia, and is receiving three small meals a day. He does have a grade 3 heart murmur, so he will not be able to be neutered. He is a special boy that will require a special home with lots of love and TLC. 🐾❤️
