Story
** If you are interested in Loki, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ WE DO NOT ACCEPT INQUIRIES** There's nothing like an adorable, scruffy dog! Loki found himself with 6 other dogs that are suspected to be his parents, siblings, & puppies in a small, high-kill shelter in Texas. He was very scared in the shelter at first, but decompressed and finally was ready for his transport to Colorado. Loki is a great example of why people love both the Schnauzer and Terrier breeds. Their reputation as excellent family dogs with silly, playful and very loving temperaments is well earned. The smaller size of both the Miniature Schnauzer and Yorkshire Terrier is also considered to be very desirable...a combo of both of these wonderful breeds results in a dog like Loki that has a great temperament and a personality that is irresistible. At just about 3 months old (such a great age..young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead and old enough to be beyond challenging babyish behaviors) and at 5 lbs (about 20 lbs full grown) is a perfect size to hike the Colorado trails and then at day's end, snuggle close all night long. Since Loki is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Loki is up to date on his shots, but has yet to be neutered. We cover the cost of his neuter at our approved Vet Clinic. This supports our work and hopes that one day dog overpopulation will become a thing of the past and therefore it will be unnecessary to euthanize a healthy dog. Loki is coming to CO from Pampa TX. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

He is much easier than your typical foster that is new to living in a home! He is very sweet, but he's still shy. I think he would be better with kids 10 or older. Story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness and then they put their heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving and sweet as can be dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them lost and alone or in an overcrowded high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Ellie, at just 4 months old and 7 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 15 lbs when full grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's rescue partners are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Ellie just in time to spare her life. Ellie is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our sweet girl is also incredibly beautiful with gorgeous dark eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years. Ellie has the potential for a stunning scruffy coat. Her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be gorgeous and cottony-soft with good health. Ellie will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a salmon oil supplement are excellent regimens for longevity and hair care) to keep her coat soft and shining with great health. Ellie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Ellie would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and engaging - very typical of both the Terrier and Schnauzer breeds We'd love for Ellie to find her forever home with an energetic retired couple or individual with the desire to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Ellie would also be thrilled with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically over the course of the day. Sweet Ellie enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment with a puppy will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Ellie enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and then enjoying the sunshine together on a beautiful day. This 4 month old (an almost perfect age..old enough to be past the initial babyish behaviors and young enough to be a sponge soaking up new training concepts) has many, many healthy and active years ahead. This 15 lb cutie-pie (a great size for backyard play, long walks and snuggling close all night long) truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job. Belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Ellie desires to be a people dog and with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, she will be overjoyed when she's finally found her forever family. Ellie doesn't require another dog to be happy. She loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and happy. If a gentle dog is already part of a family, that's great with Ellie as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company of a gentle canine and that dog will become Ellie's best friend. Ellie will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always fun, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on the couch or bed beside her favorite humans will speak to the loving nature of this little dog. Ellie will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. New research shows that fixing a dog as a puppy isn't in the dog's best interest. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Ellie's spay and microchip once she's close on one year old if one of our rescue vets is used. Ellie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 10/4/2023. Applications are currently being accepted for this silly, sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ellie please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Story
Frito is ready for adoption! Frito was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri where she lived without a name, just a number, used to have puppies over and over again for eight years. We are so proud of the progress she has made and can’t wait to see her adopted! This little girl is the biggest love bug there is! Frito enjoys nothing more than laying next to you and getting belly rubs and cuddles. She is very chill, but gets the zoomies every morning and when you get home. She enjoys napping belly up in sun beams and makes little pig noises when she’s excited. Frito adores cats and wants to be their friend and loves all dogs! She is quite the ham and loves attention. Our girl prefers to eat wet food and likes shredded chicken or green peas as a snack. Story
Greetings, I'm Benji, and I'm absolutely thrilled at the prospect of meeting you! You see, I consider everyone my friend! I'm a five-year-old male Schnauzer/Papillon mix. While I might need a bit of work on my leash manners, I'm a big fan of going for walks. I also find joy in lounging in the yard, observing my foster mom's activities. In the evenings, I love nothing more than snuggling on the couch while receiving some well-deserved scratches. My fur was quite long and matted when I arrived, so it had to be shaved off. I looked so different afterward that I even growled at my own reflection! I originally hail from New Mexico, and I've been dealing with some dry, itchy skin. However, with proper nutrition and grooming, I'm hopeful that this dry skin issue will soon become a distant memory. I haven't had the chance to meet any children since I moved to Colorado, but I'm looking forward to it. I have figured out that sitting earns me a tasty treat, but I haven't mastered any other commands just yet. I'm up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and eagerly awaiting the opportunity to meet you! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##1821570##
