Story
Meet Piper! Piper (also affectionately called Piper-oni) is an 8-year old, 17 lb. Pure breed miniature schnauzer. She was found in a sad puppy mill situation and has had a pretty tough life so far. Despite that, she is a warm, lovable dog with soulful eyes and affectionate nature, once she becomes comfortable with you. She simply loves to be petted and held. She doesn't really understand toys and playing yet. She has just recently started taking dog treats. Her foster mom is trying to teach how to be a dog, and her foster canine brother is helping also! She recently had a spa day and looks beautiful! She gets along with other dogs and has quickly bonded with her foster mom's dog, Bo. She is crate trained and making great progress on housebreaking in the past 2 weeks. She would do best in a quiet, peaceful home environment, with another calm dog, where she can be spoiled and loved all day on a comfy bed or couch, rather than a crate where she unfortunately spent most of her life. She so deserves the life of a princess! Apply now to adopt this sweet girl. http://www.coldnosewarmheart.org/dog-application.html @cnwhnj @coldnosewarmheartnj

Story
Rufus and several other Chorkie/Shihtzu type mixes were rescued from terrible living conditions. They lived in an outside pen in the dirt, mud & feces. Animal control was able to get the owners to surrender the dogs. They were all smelly and covered in caked on dirt. After a good warm bath and lots of scrubbing they felt so much better and was so happy. They were taken to the vet for a check up and shots. Rufus is playful and social, good with people and other dogs. He has not been around any cats that we know of. Rufus is about 1 year old and just 10 pounds. Please help Rufus find the loving home he deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** • Personality: She's sociable and energetic. She adapts to new places right away and loves to reach out to new people and friends she meets. She knows how to say hello to familiar people and friends. She loves to play with other dogs and loves to play with people. She picks up on new training quickly, so we think she would make a great dog for a family with a good understanding and training knowledge of dogs. She's a bit of a sneaky prankster right now, so she can get into trouble, but she's affectionate, gentle, and full of energy. • Affinity with -Cats:She is currently living with cats in a temporary foster home. She is not aggressive with cats, but she is very interested in them, so if you have a cat that likes dogs, she would be fine. -Dogs: She is currently living with the dogs in her foster home without any issues. They play well with each other, are socialized, and warm up quickly to new dogs they meet. -Adults/Kids: She is very fond of people and loves to be petted. She warms up quickly to people she meets for the first time. • Shedding: Moderate. There is shedding in certain periods. Her fur is best brushed daily with a silicone brush. • Walking Manner: She loves to go for walks, both familiar and new, and prefers to take fast, wide, territorial walks (rather than slow, sniffing the trails). He also loves to run in the park, but will sometimes try to run outside if there is no fence. she is fast and has a lot of energy, so she loves to run around in large parks and meet people and dogs. she also loves to go for walks in the mountains, but she has a hunting instinct and is interested in small snakes, rodents, and birds. • Housetrained: She goes potty on pee pads and highly prefers to go outside. She can chew on wood and plastic furniture and will grab small items that fall on the floor and play with them. She's very playful and will run around with you if you have a like-minded friend in the house. • Separation Anxiety: She's always been around other dogs, so we can't confirm, but we think she'll be fine on her own. • Bark or Howl: She barks briefly when she hears strangers outside. There is no howl • Carsickness: She had drooling at first, but now she rides well.

Story
Chloe is the sweetest tiniest little schnauzer girl who has been through a lot in her young life. She is epileptic and suffered from some violent cluster seizures that went untreated for a while, making them a bit more complicated to get under control. She had some reverse reactions to some of the seizure medications and sedatives after seizuring and took a while to calm down and return to normal, but now she’s been stable after a full neuro work up and MRI to rule out other underlying conditions. She does have a slight deformity to her skull that may have been causing some of the issues when her brain was inflamed from seizing. But since adjustment of her meds she’s bounced back and no further seizures. She’s the sweetest tiny little schnauzer, 10lbs, loves to cuddle, plays with other dogs and is just perfect. She does require medication longterm every 8 hours so needs someone with a consistent schedule home more often than not who will be diligent about her care. Email njwoof@cs.com if you are committed and would like to adopt our sweet perfect little schnauzer girl 😍 Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Schnauzer lovers, meet Macy 🥰 This very special girl was used for breeding her whole life and initially terrified of everything. But once she bonds and feels safe, the cuddly playful spunky schnauzer comes out. She’s still working on housebreaking and learning to walk on a leash, but she watches and copies the other dogs around her and definitely needs at least one other little doggie friend in the household to guide her as she adjusts to a real home. Preferably another schnauzer, she definitely knows her own kind. She’s a tiny girl only 10lbs, has only 3 teeth left in her mouth due to premature dental disease we commonly see in puppymill rescues, and is probably around 6 years old. She’s looking for a calm adult home that will keep her safe and make sure she doesn’t spook and have a chance to bolt and get loose especially as she’s adjusting, and give her time to bond and trust her people. It’s hard to tell unless her coat is shaved shorter, but she has cool blue Merle markings on her back and very soft fur that’s great for cuddling.
