Story
Sophia is an 8 year old dog, turning 9 in August. She is a loving companion who likes to cuddle and play fetch. She would thrive best in a home with no other pets or small children. She just completed her annual exam and is super healthy , shes up to date on all her vaccinations. Shes always been a great travel companion, she does well in long car drives and loves going on boats. Unfortunately our family is growing and travel for work makes it hard to give her the attention she deserves. We'd love to find a home that can give our big hearted pup the attention she deserves.

Story
He is a 7-year-old Morkie with a big personality and a lot of love to give once he feels comfortable. He does best with someone who has experience with small dogs or dogs with strong personalities and is willing to give him time to adjust. He is house-trained but may have occasional accidents, especially in new environments or with new items while he’s adjusting. He does know how to use pee pads and is used to going outside as well. He can be affectionate and sweet with people he trusts, but he is also very protective of his space and can be sensitive to being bothered at times. He would do best in a home that understands boundaries and can respect his mood when he needs space. He has done well around other dogs in the past, especially with proper introductions. Overall, he is a loyal little dog who bonds deeply once he feels safe, and he will do best with someone patient who can give him structure, consistency, and understanding.

Hi everyone I would like you to meet Pops (or as I call him Popsy) a very sweet, loving and special little boy. His life has not been an easy one. This little soul was abused and neglected his entire life by the people who were supposed to love and care for him. We were asked to take him and of course we said yes! Only skin and bones(6 lbs.),matted, not neutered and rotten teeth we got to work to make him healthy. And we did! Pops is 11 yrs. young and thinks hes a puppy definitely has a bounce in his step now that he is pain free! But mostly wants to chill with his person. He is utd, neutered and has had most of his teeth pulled and can now eat pain free. Pops is mostly house trained but will have accidents.Pops does well with other dogs as he has a few foster siblings. In spite of what he has been through he is a sweet, loving, happy boy he loves everyone and deserves a loving forever home. If you think you have room in your heart and home for this precious little boy please go to Pawingmywayhomerescue.com and fill out an application.Fees apply

Story
Meet Glinda the good witch 🧙‍♀️ 🪄 She was dropped at animal control waving her very own pink sparkly magic wand 🪄 Ok it was actually an old eyelash wand that has been rolled around matted in her hair for a while. But it was pink and sparkly 🤷‍♀️ That was a new one even for us. We have found a lot of things stuck in mats on dogs but this was dangling pretty obviously noticeable and easily removable if anyone had actually petted her or paid any attention to her at all 😳 She is a tiny 2 year old Maltese mix, maybe with Yorkie or Chihuahua, not even 7lbs full grown. She does not have non-shedding that should have needed much grooming other than some trims and combing out, but managed to have quite a few decent gross dreadlocks and matts hanging off that needed to be trimmed. She’s a little timid but sweet, seems used to wee wee pads and dances around to be picked up. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Glinda in Northern NJ. She’s been spayed, updated on shots, and her wand detached 🪄 for now. If it somehow finds its way back into her hair, then it truly is magic 😆 Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

These pups are in Plainfield, New Jersey too!

Story
• Rescue Story: Meet Tonki👋 In April 2025, a group of small dogs—believed to be victims of an illegal breeding operation—were found abandoned together on the streets of South Korea. Tonki was one of them. Now, he’s ready to leave his difficult past behind and begin a new chapter as a beloved member of a loving family. Having learned how to live happily with humans in his foster home, Tonki is patiently waiting for his forever home—where he’ll be cherished, protected, and loved the way he truly deserves. • Personality: Sweet, Friendly, Bright Tonki is a lovable, easygoing pup with a bright, happy energy. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves showing his humans just how much love he has to give! While he may need a little extra time to warm up to adult men, once he does, he becomes a loyal and devoted furry companion. • Affinity with - Dogs: Wonderful with other dogs! He’d do great as an only dog or as a second dog. - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Good with people, including kids / Needs a bit more time to warm up to adult men. • House Training: Fully housebroken - using pee pads indoors and going potty outside. • Walking Manners: Super gentle on leash and loves going for walks! • Bathing/Brushing: Tolerates both well. • Separation Anxiety: May howl briefly when first left alone, but once he settled, he relaxes and rests peacefully by himself. • Barks/Howls: Occasional barking when a male family member approaches suddenly. • Car Rides: Comfortable and calm • Appetite/Food Allergies: Big eater! / No food allergies found so far. • Likes/Dislikes: Likes to play with toys that make noise. / Not a fan of being lifted suddenly by a male family member • Shedding level (1~10): 1-2 • Health: Currently a healthy pup! He tested positive for heartworm when rescued, completed treatment successfully, and tested negative in Dec 2025. ----------- **Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Story
Meet Cotton! 📌 Important Adoption Information All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. **Name:** Cotton **Sex:** Male (Neutered) **Breed:** Mixed **Weight:** 5.4 kg (approx. 12 lbs) **Vaccinations:** Up to date **Health Status:** Cotton has completed treatment for heartworm and has fully recovered. He previously suffered from severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder stones, and has since successfully undergone urinary stone treatment and gallbladder removal surgery. He is currently stable and healthy. A possible protein allergy is suspected, so he is maintained on a prescription hypoallergenic diet. **Rescue Story** Cotton was living in a high-kill shelter and was placed on the euthanasia list. At the time, the shelter advertised him as being around 2 years old, so a private rescuer believed he was a young, healthy dog and pulled him from the shelter. However, during a veterinary examination, Cotton was determined to be closer to 4 years old and was diagnosed with severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder disease, requiring extensive and costly treatment. Facing the overwhelming medical expenses, the rescuer felt unable to continue and considered returning Cotton to the shelter where euthanasia was still imminent. Unable to let him face that fate again, a private sanctuary intervened and took full responsibility for his care. Cotton underwent all necessary treatments, including urinary stone management, gallbladder removal surgery, and heartworm treatment. He has now fully completed his medical care and is ready to start a new chapter in a loving home. **Personality & Behavior** Cotton is a gentle, sensitive boy with a calm and observant nature. He enjoys human companionship and will happily approach adults and children to sniff and greet, but he does not appreciate sudden or startling movements. * **With cats:** He becomes timid and cautious around cats * **With dogs:** He may bark at dogs larger than himself. With smaller dogs, he will briefly sniff and then politely avoid them. A calm single-dog home or a well-managed multi-dog home would be ideal. * **With people:** Friendly and affectionate, but prefers respectful interactions **Daily Life** * **Leash manners:** Generally good. He may pull a bit when excited but remains controllable. He has a tendency to pick up food from the ground, so attentive leash handling is important. * **House training:** Fully house-trained. He marks outdoors during walks but does not eliminate indoors. * **Separation anxiety:** None * **Barking:** Minimal. He may briefly bark if someone is outside the door or if a stranger enters the home. **Likes & Dislikes** * **Loves:** Toys, treats, and going for walks * **Dislikes:** Being startled and walking in the rain --- **Diet** Cotton is currently on a hypoallergenic diet due to suspected protein allergies. He loves treats more than kibble, so consistent dietary management will be important to prevent weight gain. **Ideal Home** Cotton would thrive in a calm, structured home with guardians who understand gentle handling and are mindful of his medical history and dietary needs. He is not demanding, adapts well to routine, and will make a steady, loyal companion. **Personality in three words:** Easygoing, perceptive, shy-but-sweet 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: - International transportation - Customs and export documentation - Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Your support directly helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.
