Story
Meet Cotton! 📌 Important Adoption Information All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. **Name:** Cotton **Sex:** Male (Neutered) **Breed:** Mixed **Weight:** 5.4 kg (approx. 12 lbs) **Vaccinations:** Up to date **Health Status:** Cotton has completed treatment for heartworm and has fully recovered. He previously suffered from severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder stones, and has since successfully undergone urinary stone treatment and gallbladder removal surgery. He is currently stable and healthy. A possible protein allergy is suspected, so he is maintained on a prescription hypoallergenic diet. **Rescue Story** Cotton was living in a high-kill shelter and was placed on the euthanasia list. At the time, the shelter advertised him as being around 2 years old, so a private rescuer believed he was a young, healthy dog and pulled him from the shelter. However, during a veterinary examination, Cotton was determined to be closer to 4 years old and was diagnosed with severe urinary stones and suspected gallbladder disease, requiring extensive and costly treatment. Facing the overwhelming medical expenses, the rescuer felt unable to continue and considered returning Cotton to the shelter where euthanasia was still imminent. Unable to let him face that fate again, a private sanctuary intervened and took full responsibility for his care. Cotton underwent all necessary treatments, including urinary stone management, gallbladder removal surgery, and heartworm treatment. He has now fully completed his medical care and is ready to start a new chapter in a loving home. **Personality & Behavior** Cotton is a gentle, sensitive boy with a calm and observant nature. He enjoys human companionship and will happily approach adults and children to sniff and greet, but he does not appreciate sudden or startling movements. * **With cats:** He becomes timid and cautious around cats * **With dogs:** He may bark at dogs larger than himself. With smaller dogs, he will briefly sniff and then politely avoid them. A calm single-dog home or a well-managed multi-dog home would be ideal. * **With people:** Friendly and affectionate, but prefers respectful interactions **Daily Life** * **Leash manners:** Generally good. He may pull a bit when excited but remains controllable. He has a tendency to pick up food from the ground, so attentive leash handling is important. * **House training:** Fully house-trained. He marks outdoors during walks but does not eliminate indoors. * **Separation anxiety:** None * **Barking:** Minimal. He may briefly bark if someone is outside the door or if a stranger enters the home. **Likes & Dislikes** * **Loves:** Toys, treats, and going for walks * **Dislikes:** Being startled and walking in the rain --- **Diet** Cotton is currently on a hypoallergenic diet due to suspected protein allergies. He loves treats more than kibble, so consistent dietary management will be important to prevent weight gain. **Ideal Home** Cotton would thrive in a calm, structured home with guardians who understand gentle handling and are mindful of his medical history and dietary needs. He is not demanding, adapts well to routine, and will make a steady, loyal companion. **Personality in three words:** Easygoing, perceptive, shy-but-sweet 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: - International transportation - Customs and export documentation - Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Your support directly helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.

Story
Meet Ghost, a three-year-old Maltese and Dachshund mix with tons of energy and an even bigger heart. Ghost is incredibly friendly, loves attention, and gets along great with other dogs, making him a wonderful companion for an active household. His current family adores him, but with a newborn baby now taking up their time and attention, they simply can’t give Ghost the training and care he deserves, particularly with potty training, which is still a work in progress. Ghost isn’t looking for a home because he’s unwanted, he’s looking for a home that can give him the time, patience, and love he truly deserves.

Story
Max is 12 years old. We had him since he was 8weeks. He’s a loving & quiet dog, all he wants is love. & he loves when we rub his belly with our foot. Lol. I had him from Atlanta where he was born & moved to NY. I’m in an apartment & the owner said no dogs. Plus I’m getting very busy where it’s hard leaving max home for hours by himself. He needs a loving family who will be there for him. So far no medical issues. His last visit was February of this year 2026

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: JamBREED: Maltese DOB: Jul 11, 2025 (1 year)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Jam would thrive in a home that is ready for an active, playful puppy and can continue helping him learn and grow. He has done wonderfully living with his foster sibling and has enjoyed having a canine companion from day one. Like many puppies, he's been known to claim a few of his furry friend's favorite toys and blankets, but it has all been part of their playful relationship. Jam would likely enjoy a home with another friendly dog to play with, but he would also do well as the center of attention in a family committed to providing him with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and love.Personality: Jam is a happy, active puppy with the perfect mix of playful energy and laid-back charm. He loves tossing around his favorite toys, exploring the neighborhood on walks, and discovering all the exciting sights and smells along the way. After a fun play session, Jam is more than happy to curl up for one of his many daily naps and recharge. His fun-loving personality and sweet nature make him a wonderful companion for a family looking for an affectionate, adventurous pup.KIDS: YesDOGS: Yes CATS: YesTraining: Jam is making wonderful progress with his training! He walks very well on a leash and happily follows along behind his foster sibling, who has been a great role model. House training came naturally to him, likely because he loves copying what his foster sibling does. Jam needs a little help getting up and down the stairs.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

She will thrive in a calm, predictable home where she can move at her own pace and continue gaining confidence. A gentle family that understands her journey and is willing to celebrate the small victories will be rewarded with an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion. Once Sunrise feels secure, she loves being close to her people and her loving personality truly shines. The family who gives Sunrise that chance will have the privilege of watching her transform into the wonderful dog we know she can be.Personality: Sunrise is a quiet, gentle soul with the sweetest personality. While she may be a little shy at first, once she feels safe and begins to trust you, she blossoms into a loving lap dog who enjoys being close to her people. One of her favorite things is carrying her toys back to her bed—it's an adorable habit that is sure to make you smile! She loves relaxing in her cozy bed and has a calm, easygoing nature. Sunrise has done wonderfully with cats, taking the time to warm up to them before becoming comfortable sharing her space. She doesn't chase or bark at them and enjoys their company. Although she hasn't had much experience with other dogs yet, her gentle temperament suggests she would do well in a home with friendly, respectful dogs and cats.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Sunrise has made wonderful progress since arriving in foster care. Her crate quickly became her safe space, and while she spent much of her first few days there, she has gained confidence and now enjoys relaxing in her bed around the house. She continues to be comfortable in her crate and settles in nicely when needed. Sunrise is still learning that the outdoors can be a safe and enjoyable place. She is currently fearful of being outside and is not yet comfortable walking on a leash, so her future family will need to continue building her confidence with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Because she can become frightened and attempt to run, she must always be securely supervised outdoors, even in a fenced yard. Sunrise is also working on potty training. She currently uses pee pads very reliably and consistently goes in the same designated spot without accidents elsewhere in the house. With time, a predictable routine, and gentle encouragement, she has all the potential to continue making great progress.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. She is a complete snuggle bug who enjoys being close to her people and would love a family that has plenty of time for cuddles. She also enjoys exploring the outdoors at her own pace, especially when she can stop and sniff everything along the way. Whether she's curled up beside you on the couch or investigating new scents on a leisurely walk, Jelly will make a loving and loyal companion for a family looking for an affectionate best friend.Medical: Jelly has a heart murmur. So, testing and bloodwork are currently in process.Personality: Jelly is truly the definition of a perfect angel! She has the sweetest personality and a calm, gentle nature that makes her an absolute joy to be around. While she's curious and enjoys exploring her surroundings, she's happiest simply being close to her people. Jelly could spend hours curled up beside you on the couch, soaking up all the cuddles and companionship. She doesn't need a lot of activity to be happy—just a cozy spot next to her favorite person and plenty of love.KIDS: YesDOGS: Yes CATS: YesTraining: Jelly is making great progress with her training! She is doing wonderfully with potty training and is about 90% there, continuing to improve with a consistent routine. She sleeps comfortably in her crate all night and has shown that she can settle in well. Jelly is also a social girl who does great with animals and children of all ages. She is still building confidence with leash walking and can be a little unsure, but she is trying and will benefit from a patient family who can continue helping her feel comfortable exploring the world around her.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand.
