Meet Jake Jake is pretty perfect! He's a handsome young mountain cur / retriever mix. Jake LOVES people. He is happiest when he can be with them. His eyes shine and he smiles. His body gets all wiggly in anticipation of pets or a game of fetch. This little guy is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Jake has a beautiful soft rust colored coat. He’s a medium size dog, currently weighing 50 pounds. He walks well on a leash. He can get spooked though and needs a mindful and strong (ish) person who can hold the leash if he gets frightened. He loves playing in the yards and a containment fence is a must. He loves retrieving a tennis ball and would play all day if he could. He is energetic and is eager to be out and about hiking, walking, running or riding in a car. He has a calm and mindful demeanor. He is a super smart. He knows some basic commands. Jake is house-trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out. Jake is looking for his special person or family to bond with. This young handsome doggo is amazing and deserves a second chance at a loving life. Jake will thrive in a home environment. The quiet and consistency of a real home will do wonders for him. Jake was non-reactive to a neighbor's dog when in foster. A meet and greet will be a must if there are other dogs int he home. He likes cats! All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

he is completely free to a new home. His original name was Carlos, we took him in and renamed him Kip, he loves to be apart of every thing, he wants someone to cuddle with, good with other kids and small dogs. He needs a sweet loving family to take him in my landlord won’t let me keep him anymore and I’m hoping to find him a caring family

He just needs love on his terms. Our volunteers Kristinia and Rob have been patiently working with him, and he is blooming. There is not a mean bone in this boy’s body. With time, consistency, and zero pressure, Curly will continue to grow. He is a stunning brindle boy with a soft coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that is quietly waiting for someone who will not give up on him. He does not need perfection.
