Oakley is a good boy that has a hunting nose, and a passion for exploring. He always likes to sniff around outside, and he loves to chase falling leaves or follow our cats around. He sleeps well in his crate at night, and loves his chew toys. Oakley would be great in a home with active people, hunters, or safe spaces to explore.

Story
Meet Reba! Reba was living as a stray in Jellico along with Waylon for approx 3 yrs. Shes so glad to be in rescue w creature comforts and regular meals. Very affectionate and grateful little girl! Reba loves car rides, leash walks and a chance to run and play. She lives a comfy bed! Shes housebroken and crate trained. She will need a fence higher than 4 feet tall. Reba loves Waylon and would like to adopt with him but would prefer more to have a home with people who love and adore her. She has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and is on preventative. Shes been spayed (previously had at least 3 litters with Waylon). Brown dogs traditionally have a hard time adopting and this girl has so much love to give. Would you consider giving her a home? Please contact us at lifelongbuddies01@gmail.com

Story
Sugar looks like a white 45 lb Kimmer Cur & possible Am. Bulldog mix, very shy and sweet, about 3 years old.  She was found in Wildcat Subdivision in Murphy, NC in late July and brought to nearby Lost Dogs Run, so weak from starvation, that she could hardly move.  Sugar recovered rapidly and now is a very quiet and calm dog who just likes to hang around, following her foster mom.  She was obviously used as a breeding dog in the past. She is now  totally vetted, house trained, and heart worm negative.  However, in mid August she had three 2 minute seizures within 24 hours and was immediately put on levetiracetam (initially 3 500 mg tablet a day and now a month later 1 tablet a day) which totally stopped the seizures.  Her medicine is not expensive and her dosage is 1/3rd the normal dose and has no bad side effects.  We will soon try with no tablets to see if there are still no seizures.  Her low energy nature would make her a great pet for a retired couple.  She is just so sweet and wants to stay near home.  Each morning, she is let out to explore in the neighboring woods and is back within a half hour, eager to go back in the house.  Call Ron Stoessell (985-630-1613) or email him at ronstoessell@gmail.com if you can provide a great home for her.May 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Rusty is a handsome fella, a typical mountain cur with an orange tint to a reddish-brown coat.  He has a white chest and is probably about 7 months old and weighs about 35 lbs.  Rusty will be fixed before being adopted but we are waiting for him to get older.  He is otherwise fully vetted.  He is very affectionate, chases balls, loves to play with anyone: kids, adults, other dogs.  He likes to sleep on and off the bed at night.  Rusty is a great family dog.  Please call Ron Stoessell at 985-630-1613 if interested in adopting.May 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Bravo is around 6-7 years old, ~50 lbs. He walks/jogs great on a leash, knows sit and down and most commands. He would love to sleep with you in bed, on the couch, or wherever. He rides great in cars, usually staying in the back seat. He is an easy velcro dog that wants to share his love. He is crate trained and does fine at home while his family works. He mostly ignores the other dogs (although he can be food aggressive). He would make a great therapy dog with a little work, as it's in his nature to seek out affection.

Story
Lucy is one of two Plott Hound pups brought in by animal control from Maryville (Monroe County). Did you know the Plott Hound is a large scent hound bred for hunting bears back in the day? In 1989, these hounds became the official dog for North Carolina. She is a loving and sweet girl and plays with others well (dog friendly). As always, we encourage "meet & greets" with any of your other 4-leggeds before adoption. Her brother, Ricky has found his forever home and now Lucy is waiting for hers. Adoption fees include her spay, microchip, vaccines, testing for heartworms, and deworming. We will also start her on heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication.
