Cecil is a two-year-old male tan and black Mountain Cur found all on his own on Henry Lane. He weighs just 39 pounds and is heart worm positive so will need to be in a foster-to-adopt situation with the shelter paying all vet bills until his treatment is complete. Sweet young boy dog.

Story
Rusty is a handsome fella, a typical mountain cur with an orange tint to a reddish-brown coat.  He has a white chest and is probably about 7 months old and weighs about 35 lbs.  Rusty will be fixed before being adopted but we are waiting for him to get older.  He is otherwise fully vetted.  He is very affectionate, chases balls, loves to play with anyone: kids, adults, other dogs.  He likes to sleep on and off the bed at night.  Rusty is a great family dog.  Please call Ron Stoessell at 985-630-1613 if interested in adopting.October 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Sugar looks like a white 45 lb Kimmer Cur & possible Am. Bulldog mix, very shy and sweet, about 3 years old.  She was found in Wildcat Subdivision in Murphy, NC in late July and brought to nearby Lost Dogs Run, so weak from starvation, that she could hardly move.  Sugar recovered rapidly and now is a very quiet and calm dog who just likes to hang around, following her foster mom.  She was obviously used as a breeding dog in the past. She is now  totally vetted, house trained, and heart worm negative.  However, in mid August she had three 2 minute seizures within 24 hours and was immediately put on levetiracetam (initially 3 500 mg tablet a day and now a month later 1 tablet a day) which totally stopped the seizures.  Her medicine is not expensive and her dosage is 1/3rd the normal dose and has no bad side effects.  We will soon try with no tablets to see if there are still no seizures.  Her low energy nature would make her a great pet for a retired couple.  She is just so sweet and wants to stay near home.  Each morning, she is let out to explore in the neighboring woods and is back within a half hour, eager to go back in the house.  Call Ron Stoessell (985-630-1613) or email him at ronstoessell@gmail.com if you can provide a great home for her.October 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Meet Tank 💛 Tank's journey hasn't been easy, but his heart is pure gold. This seven- to eight-year-old Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix was owner-surrendered at Animal Control and left behind just as his golden years were upon him. What kind of owner would ever do such a thing? He quickly became urgent, and luckily we were able to step in and save him in April of 2025, just in time. When he arrived, he was skin and bones—emaciated and exhausted—but with love and care, he’s been gaining weight and blossoming. Now, he’s finally ready for a forever family who will love him the way he’s always deserved. Tank is the definition of a gentle soul. He’s dog-friendly with all sizes, kid-friendly, and simply wants to be near his people. He spends most of his days lounging around happily, but every now and then he’ll surprise you with a playful burst of energy, especially when he gets to romp with his doggy friends. He’s crate-trained, housebroken, and such an easy, loving companion. Like many seniors, Tank has a few quirks. He’s terrified of storms and will need comfort and reassurance during them—he’d much prefer snuggling up close to his person when thunder rolls. He’s also a bit of an escape artist with no street smarts, so a secure fenced yard is a must. Don’t let his calm demeanor fool you—he’s strong, so he’ll do best with someone steady on their feet. Despite the hard times he’s lived through, Tank is still so full of love and hope. He just wants a soft bed, gentle hands, and a family to call his own for the rest of his days. 📍 Located in Cleveland, TN 🚐 Transport available 💲 Adoption fee: 5️⃣0️⃣ Could you be the one to give Tank the safe, loving forever home he’s been waiting for? 💛

Story
🐾 Meet Our Sweet Senior Gentleman — Grey/White, 11 Years Old 🐾 This precious soul came to us under heartbreaking circumstances. His original owner passed away, and a friend tried to care for him… but due to his weight and condition, he needed more help than they were able to give. 💔 Now he’s safe with us — warm, fed, and finally getting the love and care he deserves. At 11 years old and 37 lbs, he’s the kind of dog who just wants soft places to rest, gentle hands, and someone who will make his final chapter a comfortable, loved one. Seniors are truly treasures — they don’t ask for much, and they give so much back. He’s calm, quiet, and unbelievably sweet. The kind of dog who melts into you with gratitude. 🤍 ✨ Senior dogs deserve homes, too. If you’ve ever considered opening your heart to an older companion, this boy is waiting. 📍 Monroe County Friends of Animals 👉 View all adoptables at mcfriendsofanimals.org Let’s get this gentleman the soft landing he deserves. 💙
