Story
About a year and a half ago, this handsome boy named Henry captured an elderly woman's heart at the Marion County Animal Shelter. She took him home for a trial adoption and fell completely in love with him. His energy was hard to match, but with long walks, professional training, and some wonderful play days at Red Fern Pet Lodge, Henry has been a wonderful companion. Sadly, the owner's recent fall resulted in a broken wrist that required surgery, and the injury has changed everything. As she struggles to recover and care for herself, she can no longer safely handle a strong, energetic dog. Henry is a black Lab mix, weighs around 55 lbs, and is approximately 3½ years old. He is up to date on all vaccinations and has been neutered. Because Henry's owner wants to ensure he has the best possible start in his new home, she is willing to provide a credit at a local pet supply store and/or a licensed veterinarian to help offset some first-year expenses.

Story
We adopted Kai from a family friend when he was 4 weeks old. He was the runt of the litter and his mother had rejected him. We bottle-fed him for weeks until we was ready to have soft food. Kai is a very anxious dog. He will bark at an animal or person he doesn't know, but if he is familiar he will shower them with love. He's spent his whole life around other dogs so he is totally fine sharing a space with them but may be apprehensive at first. We had 2 kittens for about a month and he was scared of them, but otherwise he was fine with cats too. Kai is house trained (he trained himself; he'll only go in the house in an absolute emergency and no one is around to take him outside) and he is crate trained. He loves to suck on blankets, so make sure to keep one around just for him!Kai requires a lot of attention and exercise. He has bad separation anxiety (being in a crate helps keep him calm). He loves playing with people and loves running, so a big open yard or lots of walks are a must.

Story
Scooby the snugglebug seeks best friend who will love a red-colored shadow. He was adopted in 2015 from a Florida shelter by my elderly client (I help senior citizens move). When his mom (now 90) moved into a retirement community and could no longer manage his walks (between her walker, long hallways and the 5-floor elevator ride), I helped her rehome Scooby to a family with 8 kids. The family loved him (as their first pet ever) and Scooby loved to go on runs with the teenage kids (all cross country athletes). The family often took Scooby to see his former mom in the retirement home. Since then, the family's situation has changed and the parents no longer have time to care for him due to their jobs, leaving Scooby home alone too long each day. So I'm fostering him now. Scooby is 11, but doesn't show his age at all. He doesn't bark or "talk" unless he needs to go potty. He gets nervous in storms and around some dogs, but is great with kids and seniors alike.

This is Bandit. Bandit is a supper sweet dog that loves children and often plays with Milo (cat). Bandit loves to be around people and wants to be involved with the family. Unfortunately we do not have the time or a yard to let him play anymore since we left North Carolina.

Story
Scooter was a stray that found us and didn’t want to leave. We have housed him for a year now but sadly our hands are too full to give him the love and attention he deserves. He is great with other dogs and cats, too. He loves our children and is very patient with them. He barks at strangers and needs to warm up to them before becoming friends. Scooter loves human food, we suspect he was on the streets a long time eating trash, so you will need to keep your trash secured! He does NOT like car rides but does fine if you need to drive him somewhere. He is very loyal, calm, and just wants love. Easy guy to care for and anyone would be lucky to have him. ❤️
