Story
I adopted Brie from another family that adopted her from a shelter. She is super sweet and kind dog and she is good with people and children. She knows a few command; sit, stay, paw, lay down, up. She is a quick learner. She loves to play ball. She is a hunter. Brie caught a few bunnies last summer. She knows that she is not allowed to sleep with people and on couches, but she would try to snick up anyway.

Story
My elderly parents (mom 75, dad 83) found this dog in Kenmore Ohio. He was maybe 3 months when they found him. A homeless guy was trying to feed him cigarettes because "he had worms". So they brought the dog home. My parents are too old for a puppy. This boy is so sweet and just wants love and attention. I believe he is at least part pit bull. My parents have an older small dog that Scout gets along with great. This dog needs a home with people who will not clearly out live him. We are willing to pay for his shots and for him to be neutered. We really just want him to go to a loving forever home. I will even travel a reasonable amount of time to get him to you.

Story
My girlfriend and I rescued Dash from her 19 year old niece who was neglecting him when she had her baby. We have had him for 7 weeks but can't keep him because we're already maxed out for dogs with our buildings downtown. Dash is a sweet loving dog who is about 6 months old. He loves all people and animals. He's great with kids and gets along with all other dogs, even small yorkies. He loves to cuddle (he jumps up on my lap at my desk or couch, to snuggle and give kisses and get pet), play fetch and tug of war. Never mean and rarely, if ever, barks. He does get excited, in a playful way, when he meets new people/animals but calms down. He's housed trained, had initial shots (including rabies). He grazes when he eats and loves chewing on bones.

Story
Meet Manny! He is a 6 month old, 16 pound SUPER WONDERFUL Cavapoo puppy.  We have had him in foster for a few month.  He has been the easiest puppy we've ever had... ever!  He is sweet and calm.  He does not use his mouth - zero nipping.  He loves to play but is very respectful with our 3 dogs; big, medium and small.  He is content to play with toys by himself if there are no one interested in playing with him.  He is fine with the cats but our cats do not run.  Manny even likes to be combed and has never once tried to bite the comb.  Yes, he is the perfect pup! Manny is crate trained and house trained but will need transition time as we have a doggie door that he uses on his own.  He will need to get into the routine at his new home.  Manny walks on a leash but has not been "walked" for any distance.  Poor little guy does get car sick, so he will need more short rides to get him accustomed to the car.   If you have known any Cavapoos, they are most likely to have an off and on switch.  On is the Poodle and off is the Cavalier.  Manny's switch is 100% working.  Pick him up or set him on your lap and he is willing to snuggle there as long as you want.  He is also game for racing in the yard and hopping (it's a Poodle thing) through the grass looking for toys.  He likes ball throwing but not for the ball. He likes chasing his foster sibs.    Manny will need these things in his new home....  a safely fenced yard or area that leads directly from the living area of the home with enough room for him to run and play.  He will need another dog in the home that is friendly.  Size doesn't seem to matter.  It is possible that Manny can live as an only dog. It will depend on how active the household. Manny will need someone who is not working away from home and is allowed to have a dog in their work space, someone who works very short parttime hours or is retired. He can live with older respectful children but remember there needs to be time for the puppy so if your life is filled with kids' activity, this is not the puppy for you. Puppies need a whole lot of attention.  I will guarantee that, many times over, you will say "WHY did I get a puppy" .. even when you have the perfect puppy. Puppies are a huge commitment and Manny deserves the very, very best.  And what you will get from your commitment is the very, very best dog. He will need an ACTIVE home to be an only dog. We are natural care providers.  This means that we feed a species appropriate, vital nutrient diet; a fresh grind (frozen) there are a number of them, or a frozen prepared from Primal or Instinct or a freeze dried by SmallBatch, Open Farm, Primal or Instinct.  We do not feed kibble as it is a completely processed food.  We vaccinate minimally; core vaccines only - never electives. We use no toxic "preventatives" for flea, tick or mosquito.  We use all natural products that work.  We don't use chemicals in our yards, in our homes, our laundry or cleaning supplies.    We adopt to those already following natural care or those that are eager to learn and commit.  The millions of dog owners that are caring for their dogs at this level are sharing their lives with dogs that are regularly living into their 20's.  Please go to Star-Mar Rescue facebook page and click on "more" at the top of the page and then on "videos".  There is a 7 part series called The Truth About Pet Cancer. Pleas watch this series!!  It will help you to understand what we do and why we do it. The people being interviewed in this series are at the top in holistic, integrative, homeopathic and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the top researchers in dog food and vaccinations.  We believe in protection without harm.  Unless you are already caring for a dog at this level you will have a lot of questions. Happy to talk with you.   Puppies should not be spayed or neutered until they have reached skeletal maturity.  Makes sense right?  We follow Dr. Hart's spay/neuter protocol from UC Davis, following his 35 years of studying the negative affects of early spay/neuter.  It is done by breed or breed mix.  This significantly reduces the chances of joint disease (especially CCL tears and arthritis), cancer (especially lymphoma), Cushings and Adisons disease, etc.  Manny cannot be neutered until he is 11 months old to help ensure his future health.  He has a hernia that can be removed at that time.   Our adoption process is as follows:  We adopt within a 1.5 hour drive from Wooster, OH. which includes Cleveland and Columbus. First a visit with the dog at the foster's.  Then a home visit at the potential adopters where the dog is left for about a hour to help them acclimate.  The dog is then taken back to the foster home where the adoption is completed. That way when the dog leaves us, they are going with someone they already know, to somewhere they have already been.  We've found this to be the most compassionate and respectful way to rehome dogs that have suffered from neglect, rejection or being lost.   Star-Mar Rescue is registered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture as required by law.
