Story
Elmer is a sweet, silly, and adorable dog who is ready for his forever home. He has received extensive positive training, and is fluent with skills such as sit, stay, down, heel, loose leash walking, hand targeting and knows a few cute tricks. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and non-destructive when left alone. Elmer enjoys playing games like fetch and tug, and he is a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a cuddly "ride-or-die" partner for walks and playtime. On leash, Elmer is a well-behaved walker who prefers a relaxed pace that lets him stop to smell the roses. While he is not reactive (no barking or lunging) when seeing other dogs on walks, he is uncomfortable around them and needs a home where he is the only dog. He currently lives in a home with 2 other dogs from whom he is kept mostly separated. To help manage his anxiety in this environment, he takes an inexpensive medication (approximately $20/mo). He may not require this once he is settled into an only-dog home.

Story
I believe Irwin would do best in a quiet home with at least 2 people, at least one who works at home, and ideally, another dog. I love him, but cannot give him what he needs and am willing to rehome him for him to thrive. Irwin presents with extreme separation anxiety. He runs out of the apartment when I try to leave. As a temporary measure I have to take him to stay with a friend who works from home so I can go to work or on errands. Medication does not seem to be helping enough. I adopted Irwin from the Multnomah County Animal Shelter on November 8, 2025. He was found abandoned in a trailer with 5 other dogs after a neighbor called the cops. Irwin is playful and a snuggler who thinks he is a lapdog. He has some anxiety around meeting new people when on leash and seems more comfortable and quicker to warm up to new people off leash especially if the go slowly and have treats. He loves other dogs and will play chase and also wrestle. He does not appear to guard resources.

Story
Mary Jane is about 4.5 years old. We have two kids (ages 6 and 9) and she does great with them (has lived with us for almost 4 years), but she is anxious around other kids. She is very sweet with us and likes to cuddle up. She likes to play fetch, go on hikes, and is a great running partner. She is smart, has completed obedience training, and is crate trained. She is nervous when meeting other dogs but does fine at the dogsitter's home with other dogs after she gets a few minutes to warm up. She has become territorial in/around our home with our kids' friends, strangers, and visitors (barking, jumping) and needs more socialization training than we can offer her. She will come with her beds and crate. We are willing to waive the fee and pay for a home visit with a trainer to get her acclimated to a new home. We just want a good home and family for her that gives her the attention and patience that she deserves. She is microchipped and up to date on all shots.
