Story
Current location: Parkville, MD Maggie is an incredibly smart, high-energy girl who is always ready for her next adventure. She loves people and thrives on human companionship. While she may take a few minutes to warm up to someone new, once she does, she’s all about snuggles, pets, and plenty of sweet kisses. This girl is eager to learn, making her a great candidate for continued training. She is already crate trained, potty trained, and walks nicely on a leash, giving her a strong foundation for success in her forever home. Maggie loves to run, play, and stay active. Whether she’s zooming around the yard, exploring on walks, or engaging her brain with training and enrichment activities, she’s happiest when she has an outlet for her energy and intelligence. On the other hand, she also loves to lay at your feet and relax while you watch a movie with the family! Maggie could excel as a working dog, farm dog, or active companion for someone looking for a partner in adventure. If you’re looking for a smart, fun, and loving dog to share life’s adventures with, Maggie may be the perfect match!

Story
River is an old soul looking for his soulmate - could you be his person?  River had a tough start in life and came to PAW quite frightened of the world.  With the endless love and dedication of his foster family he has begun to feel secure - and to blossom.  Now he needs to find his forever home where a loving adopter will continue the process to help him to become the dog he is meant to be. River is a gentle giant.  At 2 & 1/2 and 70 pounds, he is a big fluffy love bug.  At first River can be anxious around new people and in new environments - but once warmed up, he loves people (including children) and other dogs. In fact, River must have another dog in the house as he follows the lead of his current foster brother and has learned so much from him! River loves running and playing in the yard.  Because he is still working on leash walking, River's forever home must have a fenced-in yard.  It will be important to continue leash training and exposure to new situations. This is the best way to build River's confidence and to teach him that the wide world is a fun place to explore!  River's daily medication helps calm him down, and this is something that his forever person will need to continue for River's benefit and comfort.  If you think you could be the one for River, apply to adopt today! PAW places animals in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##1836418##

🐾 Loving Home Needed 🐾 We are searching for a wonderful new home for our sweet, playful dog. She has a loving personality, enjoys being around people, and is always ready for a game of fetch, a walk, or some cuddle time. She is very affectionate, and brings so much joy to everyone she meets. Making the decision to rehome her has been incredibly difficult, but due to changes in our circumstances, we can no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. Our top priority is finding her a safe, loving home where she will be treated like family. If you're looking for a loyal companion and think you can provide her with the love, care, and stability she deserves, please reach out. We would love to tell you more about her and find the perfect match.

Story
Frank was given to our family as a puppy, now almost 2, and this is a very difficult decision for us. Unfortunately, he has grown too large for our current living situation, as we do not have a fenced yard. Frank is very strong on walks and tends to pull. If he gets loose, he will run through the neighborhood for about an hour before returning home. This has unfortunately led to concerns from neighbors, and we’ve been warned that animal control may be contacted if it continues. He has been a wonderful dog and was a great companion to our older chorkie before she passed. He also does well with our cat and is very good with children. We have three young kids, and while he can be big and occasionally jumps during play, it is never aggressive—just due to his size. He is especially gentle with our small grandchild, who he is very patient and affectionate with. Frank truly needs more space to safely run and thrive, ideally a fenced yard or secure area where he can move freely.

Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Young boy ISO love and fresh start!COLTON Come meet Colton and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (8/16) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church (6100A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!   Estimated Age: 3 years as of June 2026     Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd/Malinois mix       Approximate Weight:   49 lbs   Gets Along With:  Colton does well with other dogs! We have tested him with some of the cats at the shelter, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Colton could live with a cat, he/she has not done so to our knowledge. We haven't seen him with kids and are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently available for adoption in the DC area! Check out cute photos and videos of Colton on our foster Instagram account: @luckydogrescues   View more cute photos of Colton here:  https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBU9TT;    Check out these videos of Colton:https://youtu.be/vdXH_XBNHfk, https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iAqlI3UmaJ4?feature=share, and https://youtu.be/wFFbTPUP3Eo.   Colton is Looking For:    His forever home! Colton wants nothing more than to trot through the world with all the confidence of a well-loved dog.  Thing is, he hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and right now he's shy. He needs extra loving and patient adopters who will help him explore at his pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog.   What My Foster Says About Me:   Colton is a really funny and silly dog. He absolutely loves to play and enjoys running around. Once Colton gets to know other dogs, he loves being 'one of the dogs' and thrives in the companionship of other dogs. Just like with dogs, Colton needs a little bit of time to warm up to people before feeling comfortable, but eases in quickly. He has learned to sit, crate, and if you pat your chest and say 'Colton hug' he will jump up and wrap his arm around your neck. Love it!  He has excellent house manners and will ask to go out if he needs to.  If you are looking for a goofy and loving addition to your home, Colton is the dog for you. He loves cuddling up by the tv and will definitely watch cartoons if it’s playing! Loves going for walks and running and playing in big open areas. He loves giving hugs and kisses. He can be a bit shy once you get to know him but once he opens up he’s great, same goes with other pups. Overall he is a very sweet boy who just wants cuddles!   TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .  Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training. August 17, 2026, 11:32 pm
