Story
Shaggy and Dakota are excited for their next adventure - together! They're hoping to find a new family who can help him build their confidence through positive experiences, love, and time. Shaggy is shy with new people, but he likes pets and cuddles when he trusts you. Dakota is more outgoing of the pair and helps show Shaggy there's no reason to feel shy! Both Shaggy and Dakota do well with other dogs, but we don't know if they've ever met cats. Any introductions to resident pets should be done slowly. This pair will likely do best with dog-experienced teens and adults. A busy apartment environment may be too much for them. If you're ready to welcome home this dynamic duo, make an adoption appointment to meet them today!

Story
Ginger Sesame has lived some life, raised some babies, and has arrived at this new chapter ready to be where the people are. All the people. Always. Her foster says her theme song should be "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and having read everything about her, we're not arguing. She wants to be on your lap, or at your feet, or following you through every room of the house. She has decided that humans are her thing, and we support her in that. She takes a minute to decide someone is trustworthy, but once she's in, well…you get it. She loves calm children who are willing to get on her level, and does well with other dogs as long as she doesn't have to interact with them (she's not rude, just…indifferent). She prefers to be carried up stairs and does best in a home without a lot of them, or with people happy to do the carrying, thankyouverymuch. She freezes a little when approached from above, so a slow crouch and letting let her come to you goes a long way. She circles three to five times before she poops, which we just thought you should know because it’s funny. With her coat cut short, she apparently resembles a chihuahua or possibly a house elf, and her ears are wildly expressive. She is, in short, the perfect pooch in the perfect package. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. ANDY is a 10# male, DOB 2/15/26. We anticipate that his is possibly a Papillion mix. He is loving and affectionate. He is a little bit anxious about what other dogs are doing…but he gets along with them and loves to play with them. He also leaves my 4 cats alone. Andy is a picky eater. He was quite skinny when he came to us and we found that he particularly loves Pet Fresh. There are a few others to keep him up to par. He also walks on a leash. He does not appreciate a kennel. He sleeps on a cushion on the floor at the side of my bed…his choice. He can bark when he feels he needs to announce his attendance but once you call him down on it, he will be quiet. He is not yet house trained but he has learned to enjoy going outside. He is leery of strangers at first…but quickly comes around. I would not recommend him for young children. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You will receive the dog's folder with all the printouts proving the medical treatments received. You can ask us about how pre-adoption works and our "trial period." Adoption Fee: Includes all of the vetting and transportation. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. Story
Meet Patrick: The Head-Tilting Senior with a Puppy Heart! Don't let the 12 to 14 years fool you— Patrick is a highly active Papillon mix who completely forgot he’s a senior dog! Rescued as a stray by Senior Dogs and Friends, this resilient, low-riding gentleman acts like a dog a fraction of his age. He is a total shadow who loves following you around, tilting his head intently when you speak, and claiming his rightful spot on the couch for cuddles. Watch Patrick in Action! Want to see his youthful spirit for yourself? Check out our website to see videos of Patrick strutting his stuff on walks, playing with his favorite toys, and mastering the art of couch relaxation! The Perfect Roommate: Social Life: Loves meeting new people, gets along great with friendly dogs, and is comfortable around calm, respectful older kids. (Cats are a mystery for now!). Favorite Hobbies: Daily walks, rolling around in the grass, and listening to your daily stories. Health & Pampering Requirements: The Diet: Because Patrick has lost most of his teeth, he enjoys a delicious, human-grade soft/moistened diet. No intense daily brushing required, just routine vet checks! Fitness Plan: He is currently on a gentle weight-loss plan to keep his low-riding frame sleek. He takes daily joint supplements to stay spry, which his adopter should continue. Medical Status: Neutered, fully vaccinated, and beautifully groomed. Adoption Timeline & Details: Patrick is ready to head to his forever home this week (the first week of October) ! We are actively reviewing applications to set up meet-and-greets. Adoption Fee: $395.00 How to Apply: Head over to www.smalldogrescue.org to submit your application. Our team reviews applications within 3 to 5 days to schedule a meet-and-greet, followed by a home check. The whole process takes about 1 to 2 weeks. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Izzy came to us after her Mama passed and family wasn't able to take her in.  We were told she had no teeth but at her exam, she did have a few rotten molars still so we took care of that and now she is toothless.  She's in good shape for a 14 year old and gets around great with the dogs in her foster home!  She's very social with people and other animals but loves to hang with her people.  She needs a fenced yard or she will roam.  She barked a lot when she first arrived and was probably just confused where she was at as it's subsided to normal Pom barking.   She needs a soft landing with someone who's home most of the time and will keep her coat brushed (it was an awful mess too when we got her with a lot of bald patches from chewing fleas).  Since she has no teeth, we feed her canned food, Nature's Domain, from Costco.  She's done great on it and is in much better shape than when she arrived.   Who can give this doll a well loved and cared for rest of her life? Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 11, 2026, 4:58 pm
