Story
Ralphie is one of those dogs who makes you wonder how anyone could not fall completely in love with him. He is incredibly sweet, calm, and loving, and his favorite place is simply right next to his people. Ralphie has some mobility challenges with his back legs, but he is getting stronger every week! Most of the time he scoots around using his front legs, and with encouragement he is walking more and more. He doesn’t act like he’s in pain and is always happy to be part of the action. He is great with other dogs and absolutely wonderful with children. He has a gentle “big brother” personality with his foster siblings and does well with his foster's young child.. He’s also food motivated and takes his medications and supplements like a champ. Ralphie will need a home with minimal slippery flooring, plenty of rugs for traction, and ideally few or no stairs. He may need help with potty breaks and can have occasional accidents, so his forever family will need to be willing to give him a little extra care. He may need a little more help than the average dog, but Ralphie gives so much love in return. He’s a gentle, happy boy who just wants to be near his people—and he is absolutely worth it. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

LOCATION: Main Shelter Kennel Meet Buddy! He`s a petite lil guy who loves to be with his person. He can be a bit shy at first, and it takes some time for him to build trust with new people. He`ll bond hard once he knows you`re his person. He would benefit from a patient adopter who will let him come around on his own time. Come meet him today! The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more. Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information. ** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate you`re understanding and patience. ** ** Third-Party Websites ** Sites like Petfinder and GetBuddy may not show our current available animals. Please check our website for the most up-to-date list and verify that the pet you are interested in is still listed as available: https://www.seattle.gov/animal-shelter/find-an-animal/adopt ** Online Applications via Third Party Websites ** Applying through a third-party site does not reserve an animal or secure a place in line for that animal.
