Rachel’s write up: Meet Rachel! 🥰🌲 If you are looking for a soft, sweet companion with her head playfully in the clouds, meet Rachel! At 1.5 years old and at 17 lbs, this happy-go-lucky Pekingese/Pug mix is looking for her loving furever home and is ready to be your ultimate loyal shadow. Rachel’s story started at the Yakima Humane Society before she made her way to Happy Tails Happy Homes Rescue. She takes a little bit of time to evaluate new people when first meeting them, but she attaches very quickly. Once she knows you, she thrives on companionship—while her foster sister is off enjoying solo napping time, Rachel prefers to be right by your side, showering you with affection. ☁️✨ She is also an avid outdoor explorer who absolutely loves all the sniffs. You can frequently find her investigating molehills, munching on a few fresh blades of grass, and getting the absolute most out of every acre she gets to roam! 🌳🐾 Her Current Stats: House Manners: She is fully potty trained and a total champ in her crate! She settles down right away without a single complaint. 🏡💤 Social Butterfly (With Intros): With a slow, proper introduction, she does well with most dogs. Her history with cats is unknown, but given her sweet, gentle nature, she could likely thrive with a patient, managed introduction phase. 🐕🐈‍⬛ Road Trips: Rachel does get a little drooly and carsick on rides, so she’d love a patient, empathetic family willing to take corners slowly and help her comfortably adjust to the road over time. 🚗💦 Smart & Treat-Motivated: Training and bonding with Rachel is an absolute joy because she is incredibly food-motivated! She is currently picking up on sit, off, and recall. Walks well on a leash. She will thrive with a family who has the time, energy, and consistency to keep showing her new cues using positive reinforcement. 📈🍖 ✨ Special Foster Perk for her Adopters! To set Rachel and her new family up for a lifetime of fun, her foster family is offering a lifetime, free Sniffspot code to their property! She will always be welcome to come back to run, play, explore, and sniff around familiar places. Perfect Match: Rachel knows she is a total star and wants all your love to herself! She is looking for a sweet snuggler of a human who is ready for a devoted, sidekick companion. 👉 Note: Rachel and her sister Phoebe came into rescue together, but they are not bonded and are looking to be adopted independently so they can each be the shining star of their own furever home! Story
Phoebe’s write up: If you're looking for a dog with brains, beauty, and just the right amount of independence, meet Phoebe! At 1.5 years old and a sturdy 21 lbs, this dark-coated, incredibly soft girl has serious "main character" energy and is ready to find her furever loving home. Like her sister Rachel, Phoebe came to Happy Tails Happy Homes Rescue from the Yakima Humane Society. She carries that classic, endearing mix of initial shyness and fierce loyalty. She might take a brief moment to open up during a first meeting, but once you’re in her inner circle, she loves with her whole heart! Phoebe is a thoughtful girl who likes to make sure everything is in order. She’s a natural protector and appreciates her solo time, happily wandering off to take a quiet nap in her own space or catch some rays sunbathing outside. But don't let her independent streak fool you—she wants to know she's your number one, and you’ll frequently catch her throwing you an adorable signature side-eye just to make sure you're still paying attention to her. 🌟 Her Current Stats: House Manners: Phoebe is completely potty trained and does wonderfully with her crate training, settling down to rest beautifully the moment she goes inside. 🏡💤 Friends & Companions: With proper, slow introductions, she gets along well with most dogs and loves people! We don't know how she is with cats yet, but her sweet disposition means she could likely adapt well to a dog-savvy feline with the right management. 🐕 Travel Vibes: She is down to go places, though she does get a bit carsick. She is looking for an empathetic, respectful co-pilot willing to take corners slowly and help her build confidence on the road! 🚗 Smart & Playful: When she isn't napping, she loves to play! This girl is highly treat-motivated, which makes training and bonding with her a deeply rewarding experience. She’s currently picking up on sit, off, and recall, walks well on a leash, and she will thrive with a consistent handler who enjoys positive reinforcement and setting clear, loving boundaries. 🧸🎾 ✨ Special Foster Perk for her Adopters! To set Phoebe and her new family up for a lifetime of fun, her foster family is offering a lifetime, free Sniffspot code to their property! She will always be welcome to come back to run, play, explore, and sniff around familiar places. Perfect Match: Phoebe is the ultimate choice if you want a sweetheart who loves hard, snuggles deep, and has a wonderful, soulful personality. 👉 Note: Phoebe and her sister Rachel came into rescue together, but they are not bonded and are looking to be adopted independently so they can each find their own spotlight! Ready to give Phoebe the beautiful furever life she deserves? Reach out to Happy Tails Happy Homes today to learn more and apply! 🐾

General about info for the dogs currently listed in this group: Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. Due to this: Adoption fees are all $300, but will be returned once proof of dental is given. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Senior Dog Veterinary Care Acknowledgment (Required signature by the time of adoption) Meet Humphrey! Howdy y’all!!! My name is Humphrey. I am from good ole’ Houston, TX.. though I live in the Seattle area now!.. Y’all are so much sweeter to us little ones!!! About me: I am super snuggly, so my rescue mom calls me “Humphrey the Hugger.” I am about 16 lbs and am ABSOLUTELY the perfect size for snuggling!!! I will push myself very hard against you to be sure we are snuggling ABSOLUTELY perfectly! I am about 8-10 years old, and about 17 lbs, and due to my age, many people have overlooked me. I have been 2nd choice more times than I can count. I am first choice, until my age comes up. I am sorry, I cannot control this. If I could be younger for you, I ABSOLUTELY would be. About you: I like to be around my person 27/9… aka ALL OF THE TIME!!! I am ok with you going away for your errands etc (if you must), as long as I understand you will be back… and we will snuggle again soon! Aka… he can have separation anxiety to begin with, but settles quickly if you set a routine. We have TONS of tips.. Like leaving the radio or tv on soft music whilst you are away. He truly just needs to feel safe based on all of the changes he has been through along the way. I was originally rescued from a high kill shelter many years ago, on my last day (aka I was going to be put to sleep within 30 min). Back then, I was young, but I was male. My female partner got saved. My person saw me and noticed I was left behind, and they grabbed me within that 30 min window before I was to be put to sleep. Fortunately my rescue mom loved me, but she had too many of us. I was cared for, but never had my own mom really. So, what I know: I need a calm, stable person(s) to be my forever family. I am older and calmer now. So, I will be happy as long as you have lots of snuggles and food…. I like food too. I also need a dental appointment. The last time I had one is unknown. Please forever family! Pick me! I promise I will give you lots of love and snuggles! My rescue offers a 2 week trial. It can be shorter or longer based on your needs. PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE! I am FULLY vetted: fixed, 3 year rabies, DDAVP, microchip, heartworm tested negative multiple times, including recently, and current on heartworm and flea preventative. My stuff comes with me (crate, bed, toys, hw flea prev for 3-6 months depending on where I am in between vet visits). Still needed: dental, and lepto if you plan on taking me outside in any possible standing water your yard or other places. This wasnt a thing in Houston, but apparently is here.
