Story
General about info for the dogs currently listed in this group: Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. Due to this: Adoption fees are all $300, but will be returned once proof of dental is given. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Senior Dog Veterinary Care Acknowledgment (Required signature by the time of adoption) Meet Humphrey! Howdy y’all!!! My name is Humphrey. I am from good ole’ Houston, TX.. though I live in the Seattle area now!.. Y’all are so much sweeter to us little ones!!! About me: I am super snuggly, so my rescue mom calls me “Humphrey the Hugger.” I am about 16 lbs and am ABSOLUTELY the perfect size for snuggling!!! I will push myself very hard against you to be sure we are snuggling ABSOLUTELY perfectly! I am about 8-10 years old, and about 17 lbs, and due to my age, many people have overlooked me. I have been 2nd choice more times than I can count. I am first choice, until my age comes up. I am sorry, I cannot control this. If I could be younger for you, I ABSOLUTELY would be. About you: I like to be around my person 27/9… aka ALL OF THE TIME!!! I am ok with you going away for your errands etc (if you must), as long as I understand you will be back… and we will snuggle again soon! Aka… he can have separation anxiety to begin with, but settles quickly if you set a routine. We have TONS of tips.. Like leaving the radio or tv on soft music whilst you are away. He truly just needs to feel safe based on all of the changes he has been through along the way. I was originally rescued from a high kill shelter many years ago, on my last day (aka I was going to be put to sleep within 30 min). Back then, I was young, but I was male. My female partner got saved. My person saw me and noticed I was left behind, and they grabbed me within that 30 min window before I was to be put to sleep. Fortunately my rescue mom loved me, but she had too many of us. I was cared for, but never had my own mom really. So, what I know: I need a calm, stable person(s) to be my forever family. I am older and calmer now. So, I will be happy as long as you have lots of snuggles and food…. I like food too. I also need a dental appointment. The last time I had one is unknown. Please forever family! Pick me! I promise I will give you lots of love and snuggles! My rescue offers a 2 week trial. It can be shorter or longer based on your needs. PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE! I am FULLY vetted: fixed, 3 year rabies, DDAVP, microchip, heartworm tested negative multiple times, including recently, and current on heartworm and flea preventative. My stuff comes with me (crate, bed, toys, hw flea prev for 3-6 months depending on where I am in between vet visits). Still needed: dental, and lepto if you plan on taking me outside in any possible standing water your yard or other places. This wasnt a thing in Houston, but apparently is here.

FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Taffy! Taffy is a 1-year-old, 10 lb Pekingese/Chihuahua mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded CA shelter. This little girl is all personality—bouncy, confident, goofy, and full of charisma! She loves to play with other dogs and can be a bit of a “boss lady” during play, but always in a fun, spirited way. Taffy has a soft, fluffy coat, bright expressive eyes, and a zest for life. She’s an active young dog who loves going on walks, exploring, and joining her people on adventures. Because she has a good amount of energy, she’ll do best in an active home that can keep her engaged, exercised, and enriched. She’d be a great match for a home with another playful dog, but she could also do well as an only dog with adopters who keep her well-socialized. She has not been tested with cats or children; we recommend dog-savvy kids 10+. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big personality and an adventurous spirit, Taffy is your girl! Taffy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Lunala! Lunala is a 4-year-old, 21 LB Pekingese with a soft, fluffy coat and sweet brown eyes! She’s a gentle girl who loves to go on walks with her people and curl up for cuddles afterward. Lunala is still building her confidence with the world, so she’d do best in a calmer environment—somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of city life. She’ll thrive with adopters who understand shy dogs and can help her continue to blossom at her own pace. She could happily be an only dog with continued socialization, or she’d do well with a friendly canine companion. Either way, Lunala is ready to be a loving, loyal part of her new family! Lunala is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Say hello to Klink! He is a 5 year-old, 14lb, Pekingese/Shih Tzu mix who came to us from a hoarding situation in CA. Klink is sweet and once he knows you, is very loving. Due to his past, he can be fearful and nervous in new situations. He will thrive in a patient and calm home that can help him decompress, and build trust and confidence. Klink is not used to walking on leash, and will need a secure leash/harness set up and he can get scared and try to pull out of his collar/harness. He would be bested suited in a home that is in a calmer neighborhood, and not a busy city environment. Klink is good with other dogs and would do well with a dog companion, or fine as an only dog soaking up all the love. We are looking for a home without children. Klink is UTD on shots, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Kartana! Kartana is a sweet, spunky 1 year old, 11 lb Pekingese who came to us from a hoarding situation in CA before making her way into rescue. Despite her past, she’s a happy little goofball who’s ready to enjoy life to the fullest! Kartana is playful, silly, and loves romping around with other dogs. She would thrive in a home with another dog to be her full-time playmate and companion. When she’s not playing, she’s all about the cuddles—she loves being held, rolling onto her back for belly rubs, and soaking up affection from her people. She’s treat-motivated, a little stubborn in classic Pekingese fashion, and always entertaining. Kartana is still gaining confidence on leash and will need adopters who are patient and encouraging as she continues to build her walking skills and confidence. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, slightly nutty little dog who loves both playtime and snuggle time, Kartana is ready to be your new best friend! Kartana is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

🌼Meet Yeonu— Once Abandoned, Now Happy, Hopeful, and Ready for a Forever Family! Here are more photos and videos of Yeonu: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTHefmckcPj/?igsh=amdoajdkdTM0ZWJh Yeonu was abandoned this winter in a village in Icheon, Korea. After someone reported him, he was taken to a shelter and placed on the euthanasia list. Fortunately, he was rescued and is currently being cared for by his foster family. However, his time there will be for a short time, as they are unable to foster him for too long. He would love to come to the Seattle area to meet his forever family! Name: Yeonu Breed:Bichon Frise Estimated Age: 4 years Gender: Male Weight: 20 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Energy Level: 3–4 Yeonu loves plushie toys and enjoys playing fetch when toys with them. Otherwise, he is generally calm and relaxed. On walks, he does not show excessive or reactive behavior. At dog parks, he does not run wildly or rush other dogs. Instead, he greets politely and calmly explores the environment on his own. Good with dogs? Yes, Yeonu gets along well with most dogs. He greets dogs he meets on walks with a wagging tail. At dog parks, he sniffs and says hello politely but does not actively engage in rough or energetic play. He seems to have a more introverted personality. Good with cats? Unknown. Good with kids? Gentle children Sociability with people: Friendly with everyone When Yeonu first arrived at his foster home, he approached each family member sitting in the living room one by one to greet them. He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds outside or if someone suddenly appears wearing dark clothing, but he calms down quickly. He approaches strangers happily and wags his tail. Potty trained? Yes. Both on wee wee pads and outdoors. Leash manners: Yes. He may pull a little at the start while sniffing and marking, but it’s easy to manage. After a short time, he usually matches his handler’s pace and walks calmly. Barking: He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds but stops quickly when reassured. Separation anxiety: Yes. Yeonu has difficulty being completely alone and may bark or howl when left by himself. If at least one person is home, he does well, though he may whine briefly when his primary caregiver leaves and then settles. Mouthiness/nipping: No aggressive behavior. He loves plushy toys and gently mouths them during play. He takes treats well from an open palm, but when offered with fingertips, he may grab eagerly and accidentally catch fingers. Behavior: Occasionally, he may wake up and bark at a sound in the house, but he calms quickly when reassured. Aside from separation anxiety, no major behavioral issues have been observed. Health Notes: X-rays show a possible issue with the left hip. He has mild patellar luxation, with the right knee graded 2 and the left knee graded 1. When he was rescued, he had kennel cough and mycoplasma, completed treatment, and has fully recovered. Additional Notes: He rides calmly in the car and has been comfortable on rides up to 2 hours. He is comfortable in a dog stroller and relaxes in it. He loves treats very much and sometimes needs calming cues like “sit” before receiving them. He enjoys being petted and likes staying close to people he loves, but he is also comfortable resting on his own at a short distance. When people are eating foods he does not recognize as his own, he calmly lies down under the table or nearby. He enjoys fruits and vegetables such as apples, lettuce, and sweet potatoes. When people become excited, dance, or jump around, he gets excited and may attempt mounting behavior by holding onto legs. He behaves very well during grooming. He has completed hygiene grooming sessions of about 40 minutes. He was slightly sensitive during nail trimming but manageable. Ideal home: A family where at least one person can spend most of the day with him. Additional Comments Yeonu was very attached to his foster mom at first and became anxious when she left, even if others were home. With time and some distance created, he improved a lot. After 3–4 weeks, he only whines briefly when she leaves, though being completely alone is still hard for him. Despite this, he is a very relaxed and easygoing dog. The day after arriving, he was already comfortable lying on the sofa, sleeping on his back with his belly up. He accepts baths calmly, though he may shake off water once or twice. He doesn’t like the hair dryer, but will stay still if it’s on a stand and he’s brushed while drying. Tooth brushing is still being trained; he doesn’t enjoy it but tolerates it well without growling or biting. He knows several commands, including sit, paw, high five, nose touch, V sign, and wait. Food allergies have not been confirmed. Like many Bichon-type dogs, he has tear staining that causes discoloration around his mouth and paws. With proper care and identifying the allergens, this should improve over time. He will also need regular maintenance and grooming, like most Bichons. 🌼Yeonu is a sweetheart and is ready to find his forever family to shower him with love and cuddles!💖 For adoption inquiries, please email/ fill out an adoption application via our link on our instagram bio.🌸

Story
Meet Lilikoi – shy, sweet, and learning to trust Lilikoi is a gentle little pup who’s slowly coming out of her shell. She’s still a bit timid, but every day she gets braver—whether it's trying new things, going up and down stairs, or learning to trust someone new. She’s come a long way already and is full of love for the right person. She sleeps soundly at night and much prefers cuddling up with her person over spending time in a kennel. She's shown signs of being potty trained and hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home, but learning her cues (like sniffing and circling) will help her stay on track. Lilikoi does great with calm, respectful kids and has lived peacefully with another dog—but it’s clear she prefers to be the one and only. She thrives when she has her person all to herself and really just wants to be someone’s shadow. While she’s not aggressive, she’s sensitive and deeply attached to her people. She’s also working through some separation anxiety and tends to bark when left alone, so she’ll do best with someone home more often than not. Her ideal home is quiet and patient, with someone willing to go slow and help her continue to build confidence. Once she bonds, she’s incredibly loyal and affectionate—a true companion dog who wants nothing more than to be close to the one she loves. If you’re looking for a soft, steady presence who will blossom with time and care, Lilikoi might be your perfect match. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
