Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Roxy Heart A18670137 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old -She had so much fun running around the yard and exploring. She chased after several toys but didn’t pick any up or engaged in play.-She took a treat nicely that I offered before spitting it out. Inside she was more receptive to treats though. -She knows “sit” and takes them gently.-Inside, she briefly played with a stuffie a couple times-She enjoys pets but doesn’t sit still long. Total puppy vibes!-Walks nicely with minimal pulling-An active girl looking for a family to provide exercise and mental stimulation-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Charlie A17198562 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old 💔 Charlie has clearly had a rough life… but somehow, he’s still just a good boy who wants to have fun. 💔-This sweet boy arrived looking like life hasn’t always been very kind to him. He’s very dirty, and he’s missing the tips of his ears from previous fly strike. It’s hard not to wonder what he’s been through or how long he had to fend for himself. 😔-But Charlie doesn’t seem to hold any of that against the world. -He was quietly resting at the front of his kennel when I came in, but as soon as he saw me, he hopped right up to say hello. He leashed easily and walked beautifully outside.-And then we got to see the real Charlie come out.-This boy LOVES toys! 🎾 He will fetch a tennis ball, bring it right back and drop it for you. He gets the cutest little zoomies and enjoys playing tug, too. Even when he’s chewing on his toys, he likes to bring them close so you can be part of the fun.-Charlie is also a good little gentleman for treats. He likes snacks, knows “sit,” and takes them gently.-His outside appearance may tell a story of neglect and hard times, but his sweet personality tells us there is still so much life and happiness left in this boy.-Charlie deserves a chance to finally know what it feels like to be clean, comfortable, loved and safe. To have a soft bed, full meals, toys to play with, and someone who will never let him be forgotten again. He’s been through enough. Now it’s Charlie’s turn to be someone’s very good boy.Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Story
Jefferson A18671548 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -This sweet boy may be a little timid at first, but underneath that initial hesitation is a total cuddlebug! He quickly decided that being pressed right up against me was exactly where he wanted to be. Anytime I paused the pets, he would wiggle around in a little circle, press himself back against my legs, and politely ask for more. He’s gentle, calm, and absolutely loves affection, complete with some very sweet kisses.-Once he started feeling comfortable, his playful side made a brief appearance. When I ran around the yard, he joined in with some adorable pouncing and play bows before deciding cuddles were probably more his speed. Inside, we discovered that he’s also a fan of snacks! He sits nicely and takes treats very politely.-When I got down on the floor with him, he curled right up beside me and soon completely melted for belly rubs. If I stopped, his legs would start flailing and he’d paw at me for more. Clearly, he knows how to make sure the belly-rub service stays open!-He isn’t showing much interest in toys right now, but with his sweet, affectionate personality, I think he has plenty of potential to blossom as he becomes more confident. And to top it all off, he walked beautifully on leash. This gentle boy is happiest when he’s close to his person, soaking up love and giving plenty right back.-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.
