You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Ludwig is recently back with Last Day Dog Rescue after 8 years due to no fault of his own and is still settling into his new surroundings, but we've already learned a few things about him. Ludwig is a dog who loves the company of adults and would thrive in a calm, quiet environment. He's not a fan of young children and would be happiest as the only canine companion in the home. Ludwig has a lot of love to give to the right person and he’s very well behaved. He's looking for an experienced dog owner who will understand his needs and is willing to provide him with patience, and a safe, predictable routine. A fenced yard would be a bonus, allowing him to explore safely.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. December 5, 2025, 8:44 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139Loki is looking for a special home! When he is around people he knows and trusts, he is extremely sweet and well behaved. He builds strong bonds and loves to snuggle up and play. He consistently proves the idiom about old dogs wrong as even at 9 years old he is great at learning new tricks. He even seems to understand English and knows phrases like “go get your toy” and “can I have it”! He is very well behaved in the house and has free roam while alone — he never has any accidents or gets into things he isn’t supposed to. He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night. Despite being a senior shepherd, Loki still LOVES to play. His favorite pastime is playing fetch and he would play for hours if it was up to him. He’s very good at fetch, too, and will keep searching until he finds his toy and then bring it right back. However, since he is a senior, Loki has bad arthritis that causes him a lot of pain. He doesn’t let it slow him down, but takes pain meds and joint supplements to keep him comfortable. He is also prone to slipping on hard floors, and would benefit from a house with a few rugs. While Loki is a great dog with people he is familiar with, he has a lot of anxiety around meeting strangers and will require very slow introductions to new people. If someone he doesn’t know were to approach him or try to pet him, he will growl to warn them away. Because of this, he will need an adopter who is not only willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust to them, but also to anyone new he may meet in the future. In order to best set him up for success, we are including a training package for him and his new adopters so they can continue working with him to be the best he can be. He may take a little extra time, but once he trusts someone, he shows them that he is an incredible dog with a lot to offer anyone willing to meet him at his level.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Layla, one of two new residents at the Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue.  Layla is a beautiful Shepherd Mix, she’s medium sized at about 45 pounds, she has a beautiful coat, and stunning stand-out ears. She thrives on human companionship and she seems somewhat stressed living in a kennel environment. The more one-on-one time she gets the calmer she is. Just talking to her softly and being in her kennel makes Layla more content.  Layla does very well meeting new people, and she walks nicely on leash. She enjoys the outdoor play area and taking long walks. I believe Layla will thrive in a home as the only dog where she can enjoy all the attention and love the family can give her. She enjoys closeness and cuddle time and it seems to make her feel safe.  If you would like to meet Ms. Layla, please submit an adoption application under her name at  happydaysdogandcatrescue.org . If unable to adopt, please consider sharing  Layla’s bio with your friends and family.  Thanks! Dan DePew Mikey & Me     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
