Story
I adopted Johanna from the KC Pet Project back in April. She is five years old, but otherwise I don't know much about her history. She was found as a stray. She is VERY smart, excited, and eager to please her owner. She needs problems to solve and lots of exercise. She loves cuddling and being in your space. She is not good with other dogs, so she needs to be in a home where it's just her. I do not know how she does with kids, but she really loves people and wants to play - walks, tug of war, tearing up a stuffed animal. She is house trained and picks up on commands quickly. She has a lot of energy. I would otherwise keep her, but have found I don't have the space or time in my day to day life to give her what she needs.

Story
Girvyn is a great dog, We’ve had him since he was a puppy, and it breaks our heart to do this but our lives have changed in a lot of unpredictable ways that has led to us not being able to give him the attention and exercise and stimulation that he needs and I can tell it’s affecting him. He knows his basic commands, is great with my kids, and really loves to play with other dogs. He is just very high energy being a Pitsky and needs someone that can spend a lot of time taking him to parks or on walks and hikes or some kind of exercise. He deserves more than sitting in the house most of the time. We’re willing to keep him until we find the perfect home for him.

Story
Really good with kids I have a 3 year old and 2 year old and he is really gentle and not aggressive at all and is very gentle when taking treats or playing. He does get over excited sometimes and runs fast and will knock over things and people but he is very sweet dog for his breed and very respectful and loves attention!!!

Story
Pony Girl (so named for the Stay Golden Ponyboy line from The Outsiders) has had a very tough life so far. When you look at her eyes in the photos, cant you just see it? This girl has been thru hell, and may never fully regain her coatbut doesnt she deserve love? A home? We were told this girl was left locked in a crate in a basement for days on end. Her skin got worse and worse due to this neglect and then the lady who was doing this to her was kicked out and the senior guy who owned the home brought her upstairs into his home, but he never took her to the vet either. He was in poor health and had multiple strokes but was trying to take care of the dog. He ended up going to a nursing home and the dog was left home alone. He had a doggy door set up so she could go in and out. Neighbors stopped by to feed her and then the landlord reached out for help. Pony Girl spent several weeks at our vet getting some much needed medical attention. Then she went to a boarding place to continue with medicate baths and treatment. We were lucky enough to find her a foster home and learn a bit more about Pony Girl. Unsurprisingly she has some separation anxiety and crate issues to work thru. Her ideal home has someone who is home predominantly and has another dog. Pony Girl loves other dogs and LOVES people. When you are home shes chill and wants affection. Shes housebroken and leash trained. PonyGirls skin condition continues to improve! She's gained so much of her fur back and is doing wonderfully! She was cat tested and was unsure but willing to be nice to the cat. So with the right cat/situation I think she'll be ok. PonyGirl could totally use sponsors for her care. Its $510 a month between her boarding ($360) and her medications. We are a 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deductible. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. Story
Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals.
