Story
DOB: 3/7/2026                         Current Weight(as of 8/12/26): 30 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Meet Laney, an almost 6-month-old Husky/Shepherd mix who was right around 30 pounds at her spay surgery on August 12. While we can't predict exactly how big she'll be when fully grown, we're expecting her to be a large dog. Laney and her siblings came to Furry Kids after their owner was no longer able to care for them. We were also able to spay their momma, so there won't be any more accidental litters. Laney can be shy when she first meets you, but she pays close attention to what's happening around her. Once she sees her siblings getting pets and attention, she quickly realizes she's missing out and decides she wants her share too! Underneath that initial shyness is a puppy who truly craves human interaction and affection. Laney loves toys, playing with the other dogs and—perhaps most of all—playing in the kiddie pools! These puppies are such water babies that their foster family has to limit their pool time. Otherwise, they would happily spend their entire day wet! Laney is playing wonderfully with the other Furry Kids in her foster home. We haven't seen aggression or dominant behavior from any of these puppies. They even eat only a couple of feet apart and don't fight over their food. Having another confident dog in the home could be wonderful for Laney, giving her a buddy to play with and someone to help show her that new people and experiences aren't so scary. She could also thrive with a very active and interactive family willing to spend plenty of time with her. Laney is still a young puppy and will need continued training, socialization and work on her house manners. With patience and lots of positive experiences, we think this sweet girl will continue gaining confidence.   A securely fenced yard would be best for Laney. Please no apartments. If you have a little patience, plenty of love and maybe a kiddie pool waiting in the backyard, Laney would love the chance to become part of your family! Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
DOB: 3/7/2026                        Current Weight(as of 8/12/26): 29 Lbs.  Adoption Fee: $275 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness.  Meet Lincoln, an almost 6-month-old Husky/Shepherd mix who weighed right around 29 pounds at his neuter surgery on August 12. We can't guarantee his adult size, but we're expecting Lincoln to grow into a large dog. Lincoln and his siblings came to Furry Kids when their owner was no longer able to care for them. We were also able to spay their momma, making sure there won't be any more accidental puppies.  Lincoln can be a little shy, especially when he's surrounded by his siblings, but get this sweet boy alone for some one-on-one attention and you get to see a completely different side of him. He absolutely melts when someone takes the time to love on him. Like all of these puppies, Lincoln truly craves human interaction and touch.  He also LOVES toys and playing with his siblings and the other Furry Kids in his foster home. And then there's the kiddie pool! Lincoln and his siblings think splashing around in the water is about as much fun as a puppy can have. They love it so much their foster family has to limit their pool time so they don't spend the entire day soaking wet!  Lincoln plays very well with the other dogs in his foster home. We haven't seen aggression or dominant behavior from these puppies. They even eat just a couple of feet apart without fighting over their food.  A confident canine companion could be especially beneficial for Lincoln and may help him continue building his confidence. He could also do well with a very active, interactive family willing to give him plenty of attention, socialization and new experiences.  Lincoln is still very much a puppy, so his new family will need to continue working on training and house manners as he grows. A securely fenced yard would be best, and please no apartments.  Lincoln may not always be the first puppy demanding your attention, but give him a little individual time and you'll discover what a loving, sweet boy is waiting underneath that shy exterior. We can't say for certain how big she will be as an adult, but we're expecting Lolly to grow into a large dog.  Lolly and her siblings came to Furry Kids when their owner was no longer able to care for them. We were also able to spay their momma, so there won't be any more accidental puppies!  Of the 'L' puppies, Lolly is the most outgoing and confident. This sweet girl absolutely craves human interaction and touch. She doesn't just want to be in the same room with her people—she wants to be right there with you! Don't be surprised to find her standing between your legs or leaning her whole body against you. Lolly is definitely a girl who wants to feel close to her humans.  Like her siblings, Lolly LOVES toys and has discovered that kiddie pools are one of the greatest inventions ever! The puppies love splashing and playing in them so much that their foster family actually has to limit pool time, otherwise they'd happily stay wet all day!  Lolly is doing wonderfully with the other Furry Kids in her foster home. These puppies play well with other dogs, and we have not seen aggression or dominant behavior from them. They can even eat just a couple of feet apart without squabbling over their food.  Lolly may really enjoy having another confident dog in her new home, but an active, interactive family that includes her in their daily life could also be a great fit. She is still a young puppy and will need a family committed to continuing her training, socialization and house manners as she grows. Because she's going to be a bigger, active girl, a securely fenced yard would be best for Lolly. Please no apartments. If you're looking for an affectionate, playful pup who will happily lean against you one minute and splash in her pool the next, Lolly might be your girl!  Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty.
