Story
Keenai was given to me after their previous owner could no longer take care for him. He lived with one adult, 4 kids, and three other dogs. I volunteered to try and take care of Keenai. I’ve had Keenai for less than a year. My work schedule is busy. I work 12 hour shifts, 4 days a week. I had someone helping watch him, but they couldn’t help anymore. I’ve been leaving him alone at home, but unfortunately has trouble the first hour being home alone. I’ve realized I don’t have enough time to take care of Keenai. I don’t have a family for him to love and play with. And he only gets good exercise on my days off. When he’s home alone, he is bored even with all his toys. Sad he has no one to play with. He’s a good dog. Has a lot of energy and loves walks. Likes to be outside but also likes being inside.

Story
If you grew up reading about dogs who were man's best friend, a companion for adventures, a sidekick through and through, Sydney might be the dog for you. Sydney is a delightful mix of fun-loving, adventurous couch potato. Sydney loves to play with toys and shred her stuffies. She is working on learning the rules of fetch and LOVES running through the pool. She can get a little worked up when playing and forgets to keep all four feet on the floor, but we are working on that. When out on walks, Sydney can get concerned about being left behind, so she prefers to be in the middle or the front of the group. She's been practicing her loose-leash heel work to help her orient to her handler during walks. Sydney will try anything for her friends, at least once! She's been building confidence in our training center, working on obstacles there and out on walks. She loves to climb up where she can be closer to you, like the picnic tables. Once her needs are met with exercise, training, or enrichment, Sydney is content to doze nearby. As far as her suggested breeds, we think this is pretty calm for a husky mix. Sydney's FOMO and fear of being left behind isn't limited to walks, as she can sometimes be distraught when left behind during lunch break at the kennel. However, she is much more content when she has had a fulfilling morning. While we have not had any instances of Sydney escaping, the shelter noted that she would climb fences to go find her own entertainment when left alone. She is more handler-orientated than escape-focused. If you are interested in learning more about Sydney, you can submit an application at https://www.pooch.org/adoption-application, and we will call you to talk more about her and if you are interested, we can setup a meet & greet. Our kennel is located inside Maclaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn.

Story
Meet Xanadu, a 10-month-old Australian Cattle Dog who is essentially a lightning bolt wrapped in blue fur! ⚡ At just under a year old, she is a high-octane athlete with a heart of gold and a serious obsession with anything round and fuzzy. If you have a tennis ball in your hand, you are officially the most important person in her universe! 🎾 She doesn't just play fetch; she lives for the "job" of retrieving, and her focus is nothing short of legendary. When she isn't mid-sprint, she is a social butterfly who is genuinely thrilled to meet new people, greeting every stranger like a long-lost best friend. 🌟Being a young Cattle Dog, Xanadu is a "work hard, play hard" kind of girl who hasn't quite mastered the art of the leisurely stroll yet. Currently, she views a leash as a harness for a sled-she pulls hard with the determination of someone who has places to be and balls to find! 🏃‍♀️ She will need an active adopter who is ready to work on her leash manners and provide the mental and physical exercise this brilliant breed craves. If you're looking for a smart, spunky, and intensely loyal partner for hiking, training, and endless games of fetch, Xanadu is ready to bring some "magic" to your world! 🎡✨ Primary Color: Fawn Secondary Color: Black Weight: 60.6 Age: 0yrs 11mths 0wks

Story
Meet Milo, a 110-pound "gentle giant" with a heart just as massive as his paws! 🐾 This handsome German Shepherd mix is a true nature enthusiast who spent much of his life mastering the art of the great outdoors; while he's currently finding the indoor kennel life a bit overwhelming, his resilient spirit shines through the moment he meets a friendly face. Milo is an Olympic-level socialite with people once he gets to know them and a connoisseur of all things yummy - though he's currently trading in the "junk food" for some healthier snacks to keep his physique in tip-top shape. 🥦 He is dreaming of a dedicated forever family and a kingdom of his own: a home with a securely fenced yard where he can lounge in the sun and sniff the breeze to his heart's content. If you have room in your heart (and on your rug) for a loyal, soulful companion who just needs a little extra love to feel safe again, Milo is ready to meet his match! 🏠✨ Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Weight: 109.5 Age: 5yrs 2mths 0wks
