Story
STOP RIGHT HERE! You’ve found your next BFF, and I am SUCH a DUDE. I mean, right?
I can really strut myself, and with my big feet, I walk like nobody’s business. And man, can I run!
I came from a house of 60 cats in Central California, and my caretaker lost her home. I came to my long-time foster mom’s home in the OC, and I have loved it here. It’s just that with a few other cats in this rescue, I would like my OWN attention.
I will really thrive in a home with just one other kitty, or maybe I am your only cat love.
Why am I special needs? Look at my eyes. I have had $5,000 in eye treatments, one entropion surgery and recently, another to remove two hairs in my lower lid. Entropion in cats is a painful condition in which the eyelid rolls or folds inward, causing the eyelashes to constantly rub against the eyeball. This continuous friction irritates the delicate surface of the eye, leading to significant discomfort, corneal damage, and, if left untreated, potential vision loss. My vision is good.
My current mom isn’t really sure how old I am—no older than six, but probably five. I get stressed and my herpes virus flares, just like in your humans. Most cats are exposed to it as kittens, and once infected, the virus stays hidden, with about 80% of us cats becoming permanent carriers. NO, WE CANNOT TRANSMIT THIS TO HUMANS LIKE YOU! My flare means clear, red drops may roll out of my eyes, and please wipe them.
If I have a herpes flare, I might need antiviral medication drops in my eyes for a week. Can you promise to do that, and hint: I DO NOT LOVE THIS, but once you hold me, I’m good. After all, my eyes have been messed with a lot. I do need a dental once a year or every two years, just like you humans. Please brush my teeth? Cats’ teeth are important, too.
About my wonderfulness: When I am resting on the indoor patio chair, if you knock on the window, I’ll chirp at you, raising my lips like one-two-three. I “bark.” Yep. I LOVE to have my back scratched…and my hair groomed with a pebbly glove. I am gentle and can be so loving, but I’m finding it hard to blossom with more cats around me.
I love to eat (Can’t you tell?), but please don’t free-feed me, or I’ll gain weight. More questions? Please ask away. I mean, I am so handsome, right? Maybe we will be best friends. I'd like that a lot. I'm an awesome cat.
