HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Very sweet cat who welcomes attention and wants to be near her humans- Will cuddle up close to you when you sleep- She likes to look out the window to see what is happening outdoors- Her purr is very soft and will start almost the instant you start petting her- Is not a fan of other cats, and will be happiest as your one and only- Young, busy children will likely be too much for her, so she is looking for a more mature home that is calmer - Will be a wonderful friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does- She will likely be shy when you first bring her home, and will need to be set up in her own quiet room at first, and then gradually allowed to explore the rest of her home at her own pace- She is a cat who will bond closely with her humans, and will be a devoted friend for lifeThis cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life! This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. Story
This cat is participating in our Camp Purr working cat program, which is designed for feral or semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as working cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to their new environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are available by appointment only to ensure our team has adequate time to assist you. To get started, please answer a few questions here and a Camp Purr Counselor will email you soon. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 9.44 Age: 1yrs 0mths 0wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ----The absolute sweetest boy who is very friendly and enjoys sitting next to you- When he went to his foster home to take a break from the shelter, he confidently came right out of the carrier and made himself right at home!- He loves head and chin scratches, and rubbing all over you- Has the cutest little meow when he wants attention- He definitely just wants to be your buddy and hang out with you, but he will also relax and is not overly needy- When feeling playful likes toy balls - Loves looking out the window! - Is currently eating Hills Science C/D We suspect this cat has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), inflammation of the bladder with unknown cause. FIC is fairly common in highly stressed cats. During routine urine screening microscopic amounts of blood were found. Radiographs showed no evidence bladder stones. FIC cats may be prone to bouts of inappropriate urination when stressed. Things you can do to reduce flare ups are increase water consumption, by either feeding a canned diet or using a water fountain, environmental enrichment, such as climbing trees, perches, brushing and new toys and litter box hygiene. Recommend that the litter box is cleaned frequently (some cats may require it daily), in a location that is low stress and easily accessible. Having multiple boxes in various locations may be needed. Any future needs are at the adopters cost and discretion. Please consult your veterinarian prior to adoption. If you choose to give this cat a chance then you will need to sign a waiver indicating you understand the aforementioned information. All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Grey Weight: 13.52 Age: 5yrs 2mths 3wks
