She has a naturally timid personality, but beneath that soft uncertainty is a sweet, curious pup who truly wants to connect.Mitzi loves treats, soft beds, ear rubs, and going for walks. She is friendly and gentle. She will need time to adjust to new expectations. She has never been in a house. She has only lived in a kennel, instead of doing the hunting she would rather run in the woods and play, so she needs to be a pet. She is sweet but timid and would love to have a family to love and play with. We do transport with Rescue Riders Pet Transport. One of the most animal friendly transports on the road. We transport every weekend alternating between the Midwest and the Northeast to a destination near you. Please click the "Ask about me" button on her profile to get an application.

Story
Hi my name is DIamond Lil and I am from Arkansas! From her foster: Diamond Lil is a super sweet, smart, and curious pup who’s really starting to blossom as she comes out of her shell. She’s picking up potty training quickly and learning simple commands like “sit.” She’s only had one accident—on her very first day with her foster. She’s discovering the softer side of life and learning to love cuddles. She is still timid but once she gets to know you, she’ll greet you with the cutest little wiggle butt. She rides great in the car and enjoys spending time in her crate. It’s definitely her safe space. Diamond Lil has lots of energy, so she’d do best with an active family. She’s been friendly with other dogs we’ve met on walks. She does have a bit of separation anxiety that shows up as barking, but she’s already making progress and getting more comfortable being left alone.

Story
Hi my name is Ace and I am from Arkansas! If you're looking for a four-legged friend to cuddle, Ace is your perfect fur baby. When you take a seat, he's eager to snuggle in, making sure that there's at least three points of contact at all times. He will have a snore of approval when he's all set and ready to nap away on your lap. Ace might adore you so much that he can be a little jealous in the presence of another dog, so he'd appreciate your patience as he practices those boundaries. He is friendly around other dogs but hasn't engaged in play yet. He is potty and crate trained, and ready to get settled into his forever home!

Story
3 years old. Divorce & relocation. Zoey is a BEAUTIFUL and wonderful pup with a BIG BIG heart, TONS of energy and needs a loving home where she can be given lots of hugs and love. She is a PLOTT hound first so she is naturally an ALERT dog, who is led by her NOSE and needs strong boundaries and authority. 1. She is cautious around other dogs; but the right dog she will LOVE to play with and buddy up with 2. Cautious around strangers, but will snuggle and love (needy almost) with her "people". 3. VERY protective of her food.

Story
Meet Piper, a sweet little survivor with a bright spirit and a spunky personality. Like her brother Cole, Piper came from humble beginnings. Her mom bravely cared for her puppies outside, sheltering them under a shed during bitter cold weather until a kind Good Samaritan brought them to safety. Because of that second chance, Piper is now thriving and ready to find a family of her own. While she shares her brother’s sweet nature, Piper is the most outgoing of the litter. She’s confident, curious, and always ready to be part of whatever is happening around her. She loves to follow her person from room to room, just to make sure you don’t forget about her. And once you scoop her up, she melts right in for some snuggles. Piper is still a young puppy, so she’ll need basic training and continued potty training as she grows. With her friendly personality and eagerness to connect, she has all the makings of a wonderful, well-rounded companion. She enjoys playtime, loves attention, and balances her puppy energy with plenty of sweetness. Piper would thrive in a home ready to guide her, love her, and include her as part of the family. In return, she’ll offer devotion, cuddles, and the joyful presence only a happy, outgoing puppy can bring. Piper is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*

Story
Introducing Winny , our incredibly sweet and gentle 7-year-old Coonhound lady! At 97 lbs, Winny is a big girl with an even bigger heart, ready to find her forever couch. Winny is the epitome of a homebody. She absolutely adores people and just wants to relax by your side, whether it's cuddling on the couch or enjoying slow, leisurely walks. This gentle soul is a big foodie, and a regular routine, along with a weight loss plan, will help her feel her best and put a spring in her step! Initially a little shy, Winny quickly blossoms with love and patience. She thrives on human connection and yearns to bond, promising to be the most loyal companion. While she has some sweet anxiety, it's easily overcome with affection, routine, and possibly some anti-anxiety meds, as recommended by her vet. She's a pro at being housebroken and has impeccable manners indoors. Winny is too playful for cats (they wouldn't appreciate her enthusiastic "fun"), but she's not a hunter. She loves a good squeaky toy shake but might plant herself if she's not keen on an activity – nothing a little coaxing and a tasty treat can't fix! Take a look at the side eyes we got when videoing sweet Winny with her squeaky toy! :) Winny truly deserves a comfortable, happy, and relaxed life filled with love. Could your home be the soft landing this deserving girl dreams of? She's ready to be your best friend! Winnie is from a local impound.

Story
Meet Cole, a sweet little guy that loves to give sad puppy eyes to get what he wants! It’s clear that he’s simply happy to be safe, warm, and surrounded by people. He greets everyone with a friendly hello, soaking up attention and affection like he’s been waiting his whole life for it. Cole’s story started out a little rough. His mom gave birth and cared for her puppies outside, eventually taking shelter under a shed during very cold weather. She did everything she could to keep them alive and protected. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan found the little family and brought them inside to safety until rescue could step in. As a young puppy, Cole is still learning the basics. He’ll need continued potty training and all the normal puppy lessons—manners, routines, and guidance to help him grow into a well-rounded adult dog. The good news is that he’s eager to please and has a naturally gentle temperament that will make training a rewarding experience. He does well with everyone he meets and has a calm, sweet nature. He tolerates being in his crate and is learning that it can be a safe, cozy place to rest. Like any puppy, he enjoys playing with toys and exploring his surroundings, but he isn’t overly wild—his personality leans more toward tender and affectionate than rowdy. Cole is ready for a forever home that will be patient, consistent, and excited to help him learn. In return, he’ll offer a lifetime of loyalty, sweetness, and the quiet joy that comes from watching a once-chilly little survivor grow into a beloved family companion. Cole is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon.
