Story
Meet Copper, our handsome and distinguished gentleman, who`s been with us at Burlington Animal Services since May 2025. Copper knows how to take life slow and steady, but don’t let his relaxed pace fool you - he’s still got plenty of love to give!Copper is a sweet, low-key guy who’s all about the good things in life: tasty treats, squeaky toys, and car rides. He’s the perfect companion if you’re looking for a chill pup who enjoys life’s simple pleasures (he loves belly rubs)! While he may not be up for wrestling matches with other dogs (he’s a bit of a solo adventurer), Copper is as sweet as can be with his people. He’s been in a playgroup here, but it turns out he’s not the biggest fan of sharing the spotlight with other dogs. We’re not sure how he feels about cats or kids just yet, but if you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance buddy who’ll cherish your company, Copper’s your guy.Ready to give this sweet boy the home he deserves? Come meet Copper and see if you two are a perfect match!

Story
Meet Catcher— Your Future Adventure Buddy & Snuggle Queen with a Cute Tiny Underbite! Catcher is a young, vibrant, fun-loving girl who’s equal parts athlete and cuddle bug. She’s the kind of dog who will sprint at top speed after a squirrel... then melt into you for belly rubs five minutes later. What Catcher likes: Exercise and affection! She thrives with 1–2 hours of daily activity. Runs, brisk walks, soccer games, frisbee sessions, swimming in lakes, or just zooming (her zommies are legendary!) around the yard — she’s all in. Her "Good Morning" consists of melting into her human and asking for hugs and belly rubs, and she loves to get them throughout the day. Mental challenges. She’s very smart and loves puzzle toys and scent games (especially hunting for hidden treats!). Cardboard “projects.” Tearing up boxes is her part-time job, and she takes it seriously. People + dogs. Extroverted and social, Catcher greets everyone with a wagging tail and leans in for affection. She plays great with dogs of her own size or larger. Outings. She’s a polite companion at breweries, cafés, and restaurants. What She’s Good At: ✔ Happily relaxes and sleeps in a crate ✔ Potty trained (never any accidents) and crate trained ✔ Walks nicely with a no-pull harness ✔ Super affectionate ✔ Smart and eager to engage ✔ Knows “sit” and “stop” ✔ Can entertain herself with a toy, a wooden stick, or a cozy bed - making her an amazing work-from-home companion ✔ Catching a ball, frisbee, water waves, flies, flying leaves - and she is a great "catch" herself! What She’ll Need: A family that has an active and consistent lifestyle, a fenced yard is a huge plus, and has time for exercise and play, and understands the needs of a young, energetic dog with a high prey drive and high chewing drive. She’s not extremely treat-motivated, but she shines with squeaky toys, enthusiastic praise, and physical affection. If you are looking for a low-maintenance, low-energy dog or plan to crate her for long hours a day, she is not the gal, but if you’re hoping for a dog who will join you on every adventure, hiking, swimming, running and greet you like her favorite person in the world every day and watch a movie while hugging each other, Catcher is your girl.

Story
** I cannot be the only dog in the home! **Hello, I’m Eddie!I’m a playful, goofy, clumsy, happy, and lovable guy looking for my forever family. I’m a big guy whom would do best with older kids (teens) or an adult only home. I would love a home with an active family, a fence in yard to explore and play. I will need to have a doggy playmate who can romp around the yard with me, too! We can work together to get our zoomies out. I like to keep entertained and I loooooove playing with other dogs. I have a lot of puppy energy so I do tend to tire out older dogs but I respond very well to corrections when they tell me to leave them alone. I’m a pretty savvy guy! I love to bounce around; I’m 80 pounds but I’m a tall guy and a bit inquisitive; I’m working very hard on my manners training so that I can be on my best behavior around those tempting counter tops! Speaking of my training, I have already come a long way! I’m house-trained, crate trained, have good manners and I’m doing very well on leash. When I get excited I can pull a bit but we are working on this impulse control as well. I am definitely looking for a family that’s just as excited about continuing my training as I am about learning. If you’re looking for a fun loving, adorable, goofy, playful and sweet pup, I might be your guy! Fill out an application so we can meet! I am neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, have been dewormed, and am current on my monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Thank you!

Story
This is Baby girl... She has filled out and has put weight on since I rescued her. She is healthy and happy. Loves the attention. She is still a little skittish of a new person but warms up quickly. Please share this far and wide. She needs a forever home. I have done all I can for her to have a chance...but I do not have the room and my schedule changes soon and I will not have the time for this rescue. Someone please give her a chance. Thank you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application ›   Oh, hey there! I’m Walton—certified good boy, professional toy enthusiast, and a true comeback kid. I was this close to taking the Big Sleep at the shelter, but some amazing humans gave me a second chance. And let me tell you—I’m making the most of it! First things first: I am house trained, handsome, and hilarious. I LOVE toys—squeaky, bouncy, chewy, you name it. If there’s a game of fetch or a good ol’ tug-of-war, I’m all in! Humans are my favorite—I just want to be around my people and soak up all the love they’ve got to give. I can get along with other dogs, but honestly? I’d rather be the king of my castle. And when it comes to food, I prefer to keep my dinner mine, thank you very much. My dream home? A quiet place with some awesome humans who want a loyal, loving, and slightly goofy sidekick. No tiny humans running around, please—I prefer a more relaxed vibe. If you’ve got a couch, some snacks, and space for a four-legged shadow, I’m ready to move in. Let’s do this!     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 4, 2025, 11:58 am

Story
(DOB 10/27/2024) Are you looking for a dog for your playful pup? Harlow would thrive in a home with another playful dog who can keep up with her fun-loving energy. She’s the ultimate playmate and would be over the moon to have a canine sibling to romp around with. She needs a fenced in yard and the opportunity for regular walks, playtime, and lots of love and attention to keep her happy and engaged. Harlow is a young, happy-go-lucky pup with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This social butterfly lives to make new friends—both two-legged and four. She's playful, bouncy, and full of puppy charm, and she’s absolutely convinced that everyone she meets is her new best friend. She's still learning her manners—especially when it comes to using her teeth during play—so a home without small children is best while she works on her self-control. No aggression here at all; she is just has so much excitement in one wiggly little body! If you're looking for a fun, affectionate, and social dog who’s always ready for an adventure (or a cuddle), Harlow is ready to wiggle her way into your heart—and your home! She loves walks, and doggie day care is a whole lottta fun for her, and playing with toys, so be ready for fun times! She is a bit funny getting into the car and isn't quite sure what to think of the new thing, but she's rolling with it like a champ! Harlow’s also a bit of a chewer (hey, nobody’s perfect), so soft beds and plush toys might not last long around her. But with the right toys and some supervision, she’s well on her way to becoming the perfect pup. Crate trained already. Because of her energy level, giving her specific break times to potty and continuing to teach her to potty on a leash will be a task you can accomplish together. Want to meet an awesome pup with an amazing personality - that is Harlow!! As part of Harlow’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Harlow, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2425254##

Story
Jack is a 3 1/2 year old Bloodhound/Pitbull mix who is sweet, and very energetic. He was diagnosed with epilepsy about 7 months ago and needs ongoing medication to manage his seizures. Unfortunately I am unable to continue his medical care due to financial constraints. I am looking for a loving home where he can get the support he needs. Jack is a wonderful, loyal dog who deserves a family that can care for him.
