Story
Kashka is a young, joyful, people-loving girl who combines playfulness, intelligence, and deep affection. She has a big personality and a big heart — the kind of dog who greets you with a wagging tail, leans into your legs for love, and happily curls up beside you after a day of engagement and enrichment. Kashka has recently been diagnosed with hip dysplasia on both hips. Her condition does not stop her from playing and enjoying life, but she will be undergoing surgery for a FHO followed by PT, the costs of which will be covered by IAR. With rest and daily PT exercises following surgery, she can resume her normal activity level. She is still available to be adopted now, and IAR will work with her new home throughout his surgery and recovery. 💖 What Kashka Loves Balanced activity, movement, and connection. Kashka is a high-energy dog, but due to her hip dysplasia, her exercise currently needs to be thoughtful, structured, and controlled until her medical treatment plan is complete. She thrives with: • multiple short, low-impact walks • gentle play sessions (rolling a ball, light fetch, interactive toys) • swimming, which she absolutely loves and is one of the best and most important exercises for her going forward • sniffing, exploring, and engaging her environment at her own pace Her favorite way to start the day is melting into her human for hugs and belly rubs — affection is her love language, and she happily asks for it throughout the day. Mental challenges. Kashka is highly intelligent and truly shines with mental enrichment. Puzzle toys, scent games, and searching for treats hidden in toys help meet her needs while keeping physical impact low. Cardboard “projects.” Supervised box-shredding remains one of her favorite hobbies, approached with enthusiasm and focus. People + dogs. Kashka is extroverted and social. She greets everyone with a wagging tail and leans in for affection. She does best with calm, well-matched dogs, particularly those her size or larger. Outings. She’s a polite, well-mannered companion at cafés, breweries, and other dog-friendly spaces. ⭐ What She’s Great At ✔ Fully crate trained and relaxes comfortably in her crate ✔ Potty trained with no accidents ✔ Walks nicely on leash using a no-pull harness ✔ Extremely affectionate and people-oriented ✔ Smart, curious, and eager to engage ✔ Knows “sit”, "down", "come" and “stop” ✔ Can entertain herself with toys or a cozy bed — a wonderful work-from-home companion ✔ Enjoys gentle catching games, floating toys, and water play 🩺 Medical Note Kashka has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is currently awaiting a veterinary treatment plan. While she is naturally energetic and athletic, her activity is being carefully managed to protect her joints until treatment is complete. Her care focuses on: • low-impact, joint-friendly exercise (especially swimming) • appropriate rest and recovery • mental stimulation • following veterinary guidance, which may include medical management, physical therapy, or surgical options With proper care and structure, Kashka remains a happy, playful, and affectionate young dog who loves life and people. 🏡 What Kashka Needs Kashka will thrive with a family who: • understands that she is high energy, but needs controlled exercise for now • enjoys enrichment, training, and companionship over high-impact activity • can follow a veterinary care plan and adjust routines as needed • values affection and connection as much as play A fenced yard or access to safe swimming opportunities is a big plus, but not required with thoughtful management. If you’re looking for a dog who will bond deeply, brighten your days, enjoy gentle adventures (especially in the water!), and happily snuggle up at the end of the day, Kashka could be your perfect match.

Story
(DOB 10/27/2024) Are you looking for a dog for your playful pup? Harlow would thrive in a home with another playful dog who can keep up with her fun-loving energy. She’s the ultimate playmate and would be over the moon to have a canine sibling to romp around with. She needs a fenced in yard and the opportunity for regular walks, playtime, and lots of love and attention to keep her happy and engaged. Harlow is a young, happy-go-lucky pup with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This social butterfly lives to make new friends—both two-legged and four. She's playful, bouncy, and full of puppy charm, and she’s absolutely convinced that everyone she meets is her new best friend. She's still learning her manners—especially when it comes to using her teeth during play—so a home without small children is best while she works on her self-control. No aggression here at all; she is just has so much excitement in one wiggly little body! If you're looking for a fun, affectionate, and social dog who’s always ready for an adventure (or a cuddle), Harlow is ready to wiggle her way into your heart—and your home! She loves walks, and doggie day care is a whole lottta fun for her, and playing with toys, so be ready for fun times! She is a bit funny getting into the car and isn't quite sure what to think of the new thing, but she's rolling with it like a champ! Harlow’s also a bit of a chewer (hey, nobody’s perfect), so soft beds and plush toys might not last long around her. But with the right toys and some supervision, she’s well on her way to becoming the perfect pup. Crate trained already. Because of her energy level, giving her specific break times to potty and continuing to teach her to potty on a leash will be a task you can accomplish together. Want to meet an awesome pup with an amazing personality - that is Harlow!! As part of Harlow’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Harlow, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2425254##

Story
(DOB 12/16/2023) Fezz, also known as Fezzi or, if you’re feeling fancy, Fezziwig (yes, named after Scrooge’s boss, but don’t worry, Fezz is nothing like a Scrooge!). This adorable boy is looking for an amazing place to call home where he can live his very best life ever full of love, comfort, and companionship. Fezzi is a total love bug with a happy, wiggly body that tells you exactly how excited he is to see you. He’s gentle, sweet, loyal, and wonderfully snuggly, especially when it’s time to curl up on the couch with his people. He adores attention, pets, and belly rubs, and his calm, submissive, and sensitive nature makes him a joy to have around. While he enjoys playtime, he’s also perfectly content being a bit of a couch potato, balancing fun and relaxation beautifully. This social butterfly gets along great with people, other dogs, and kids and loves making new friends. He enjoys playing with his foster dog pals, chasing squirrels, and zooming after tennis balls — he’s even working on bringing them back! Fezzi is polite and shares his toys nicely, enjoying squeakers, chew toys, and stuffed toys alike. He’s smart, food-motivated, eager to please, and easily redirected, with solid recall and continued progress on his basic commands. He has not had an opporunity to meet cats but he does love to chase squirrels so there is that.  Fezzi is crate trained but prefers the finer things in life like snoozing on a chair or sofa during his afternoon siesta and overnight. He’s mostly quiet, rides wonderfully in the car, and would be over the moon to join you on errands, adventures, or outings whenever possible. He truly shines as an all-day, everyday companion. Because Fezzi is a sensitive soul, he does best in a kind-hearted, quieter home and is not a fan of loud voices/screaming or lots of chaos. A home with older kids or a more relaxed environment would be ideal. He would love a fenced yard (4’+), another playful dog (he loves his furry foster brothers and sisters!!), and a human who absolutely adores him but those aren’t deal breakers. Another dog friend is preferred, but with the right lifestyle; things like doggie daycare, playdates with friends’ pups, and plenty of social time Fezzi would be just as happy. (We do not encourage open dog parks.) With a dedicated adopter who commits to daily walks, regular playtime, outings, and continued potty-training consistency, Fezzi could also thrive in a condo, apartment, or townhome. If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, loyal, gentle companion who will brighten your days and warm your couch, Fezzi is ready to steal your heart! As part of Fezz’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Fezz, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2618298##

Story
(DOB 04/17/2025) This big softie is definitely a water baby — he loves anything to do with swimming or splashing around! Hercules is great with other dogs and adores kids. He’s a smart pup who already knows his basic commands!  While he has his playful bursts of puppy energy, Hercules is mostly a laid-back boy who loves to follow his people around and soak up attention. Because of his size, he’s not built for long walks or hikes, but he does enjoy short strolls and does great on a leash. So for the not super active person/family what a great addition Hercules will make! Hercules would do well as an only dog or with other canine companions. He’d probably love a fenced yard to romp in, but he’d also do just fine in a home that keeps him on a regular short-walk routine. He’s ready to find his forever home where he’ll be loved as much as he loves back.  A work-from-home setup or a job that lets you bring him along would be perfect. While he doesn’t need a fenced yard, having one would be pawsitively awesome for zoomies and play. Hercules is super cute and cuddly, and he adores everyone he meets—If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a lovable, lively little pup who’s eager to learn, Hercules can’t wait to meet you! As part of Hercules's $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
(DOB 08/12/2024) Lexi - The Energetic, Playful Pup Ready to Join Your Family! Lexi is a fun-loving ball of energy who thrives on playtime! She’s a fetch enthusiast, a tug-of-war champion, and loves running around with other dogs. Whether it’s chasing toys, playing with her favorite canine pals at doggie daycare, or zooming through a fenced-in yard, Lexi’s idea of a perfect day is one filled with action and fun. Being house-trained and crate-trained, she’s already settled into good habits at home. However, she’s happiest when she’s outside getting her energy out, so a home with a big, securely fenced yard would be ideal for her to run, play, and burn off her puppy energy. An active family with time to play, and a doggie sibling around her size (or a bit bigger), would be a great fit. Lexi would do best if there is someone home a good chunk of the time. She’s great with people and loves everyone she meets; however, Lexi's energy level is best suited for a bit older kids (she may accidently knock over young ones) and she'd probably "bother" older/laid-back dogs. She’s especially great with older kids or teens who can match her enthusiasm and playfulness without getting knocked over during one of her zoomies! Lexi has not had an opportunity to meet little kitties at this time, so we aren't sure about them. Lexi is a sweet, spirited young pup who’s almost full-grown and will be the perfect mid-sized companion, weighing in around 35 to 40 pounds. With her wiggly, tail-wagging excitement, it’s impossible not to smile when she greets you—this girl’s joy is absolutely contagious! Lexi is also happy to "tell you about" how happy and how much fun she is having with her distinctive and unmistakable Husky-like voice. It is absolutely adorable! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun dog to keep you on your toes and fill your life with love, Lexi might be just the perfect match. She’s ready to grow up with a family that’s ready to give her the attention, fun, and love she deserves. Ready for daily zoomies and endless cuddles plus she is a cuddler and a very sweet loyal dog, perfect for someone who wants a dog they can bond deeply with. Lexi’s waiting for you! As part of Lexi’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Lexi, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2340213##

Story
Sonny has been a huge part of my life and the life of my family. I originally adopted him from the SPCA at the age of 6 weeks in 2011. He was essential for quite along time for my emotional well-being and kept me physical activate. While he has been a huge part of my family - more recently we had a new child and he is allergic to the dog which has made life unfair for the dog as his housing situation has changed. As we want to do what's best for the dog and our family we have decided to rehome him.
