Story
We found Cele (pronouced Celly) wandering in our neighborhood at the end of February this year (2026). He seemed scared but let me approach him. He had no collar and we discovered he was not chipped and he was not neutered. Vet told us he was 7-8 months at the time, so that would make him a little over a year old now. He looks and has the build of a Plott Hound. Potentially another breed, but unsure. He has been good around people and no issues with other dogs thus far, but gets very excited, impulsive and does not know how to behave when around other dogs. However, he has been living with 2 small Dachshunds since we found him with no issue. He has a lot of energy, very fast, strong and when excited he seems to have tunnel vision and not listen to commands. He is very loving and loves attention. He knows sit well, but has struggled with getting other commands to stick. As much as I would love to keep this sweet boy, our schedules and yard are not condusive for him to thrive.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Introducing Waylon Jennings! This young guy came to DASH from a rural shelter in Kentucky when he was on the short list for euthanasia for overcrowding. He's a big boy and very energetic, so he will need a very active person or family who is willing to make sure he gets the exercise he needs so that when it's time to relax that he'll be ready. He is very friendly with all of the people and dogs he has met so far, but his play style is a little rough so a bigger dog sibling would be the best fit for him (no little dogs). The same goes for kids, he would do best in a home with older kids who he can't knock down when he's wanting to play. He is currently in our DASH Prison Program where he is learning basic commands and working on his crate training (will sometimes bark when left alone) and walking on a leash. He is housebroken in the prison setting. He is very affectionate and goofy and just wants to play and run. He is not a fan of thunder or loud noises, but he is working on that. This boy needs adventure and a forever family dedicated to helping him to continue to become the best companion he can be. (FTA: Waylon Jennings is a part of our Foster-to-Adopt program. If you are interested in bringing Waylon Jennings home to test how he would acclimate to your environment, apply today!) Story
Hi, I’m Raja. My owners adopted me from the shelter in 2021 when I was only 7 months old. I am now almost 6 years old but I still love to play and love cuddle time. I’m a sweet and silly girl. I’m not really one for mud or the rain, I prefer to keep my pearly white paws pearly white. I hate storms and need some extra cuddles if it’s thundering and lightning outside. Unfortunately, my owners have to move and their place doesn’t accept dogs which is heartbreaking for my owners. I’m just looking for someone that will give me all of the love. I love to sleep in cozy spots like the bed and the couch and if you want to bring me a pup cup now and then, I don’t mind if you do but I’ll love you regardless. My owners want what’s best for me and are hoping to send me to a loving home that will give me time and attention. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I am also spayed and potty trained! I hope to bring love and joy to your home.

He’s still learning the ropes of being a trained dog, but he has all the makings of a great family pet or #1 buddy. He loves toys and fetch, rides easily in the car, gets along well with other dogs, and does great with small children. Canoe has plenty of stamina to keep up on runs, bike rides, and other adventures, then happily crashes for a nap afterward. He can sleep in his crate or is happy snoozing at the foot of the bed. Story
Mavi is an 8 1/2 year old Plott hound. I found her as a stray in Panama City Florida during my time in the military. She’s fantastic with people, the sweetest loving dog you can find. Unfortunately she had a minor back injury a few years ago and this has caused her to be slightly aggressive towards other dogs and cats when her back pain flares up. She is a dog that would thrive in a situation where she’s the only pet in the home or an environment where she has the opportunity to stay separated from other animals.Mavi loves to run and play fetch, but sometimes she just likes to run away with her toys. But she’s more than happy to lay on the couch with you all day and night. She loves to shake paws with you, and smother you with kisses. Mavi is great with everyone except other animals, and sleeps in her kennel every night and does well in her kennel when you're away. I’m looking for someone who will love her like I do, and ideally give me updates on her health as the years go by.

Story
Roxie is back with us to find her a home with NO CATS/NO OTHER SMALL ANIMALS OR CHICKENS. Roxie graduated from a training program at ORW. She is housebroken, loves to sleep in your bed and even likes carrying her own dog bed. She is a sweetheart and is very smart. She will need a fenced in yard but one taller than 4 feet because she will jump a shorter fence. Roxie enjoys playing at the dog park. If you have another dog in the home, we will need to do a meet and greet. Roxie would probably do better with a medium to larger size dog. If you are interested in meeting Roxie, please fill out an online application.

Meet Patty Melt! Patty Melt is about 7 years old and a 50 pound female Catahoula mix. She is blind but learns to navigate her surroundings very well. Patty Melt loves her people. She can be slow to warm up to strangers and needs a good sniff first, but once you’re approved she’s all love and belly rubs. She is content to hang out all day and sleep, snore, and play with toys. She happily sleeps in her crate, and does not cause any trouble left alone in the house out of the crate. Patty Melt is currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. She would do best in a home without young children or fur siblings. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Your brilliant, big-hearted adventure buddy. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, loyal companion who can keep up with your energy and your couch cuddles… Aquarius may be your girl. Aquarius is a 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard mix weighing 85 pounds of love and personality. She’s crate trained, potty trained, and already knows an impressive list of commands. This girl is incredibly intelligent and thrives when she has something to learn or do. Training sessions? She’s in. Puzzle toys? Absolutely. A treat-filled Kong? Say no more. She loves to run, play, and stretch her legs, so a home with a tall, secure fenced yard is a must. After she’s had her fun, Aquarius is more than happy to curl up beside you for hours of well-earned snuggles and belly rubs. Aquarius grew up as the only dog in her home with three young human siblings, so she’s used to being the center of attention. Because of that, she can be a little protective of her toys and would likely do best as the only dog in the home. She loves people deeply and bonds closely with her family. Her foster mom shares that Aquarius experiences some anxiety in new situations, and she takes a daily medication that helps her feel her best. She’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will continue building her confidence and celebrating her progress. With consistency and love, she truly shines. And here’s a bonus: Aquarius knows exactly when it’s mealtime. She’ll even bring you her bowl as a gentle reminder. Your very own furry personal assistant! Aquarius isn’t just looking for a home.. she’s looking for her person. Someone who will appreciate her intelligence, her playful spirit, and her big, devoted heart. Could that be you? She is being fostered in Grove City, Ohio. She is spayed, UTD on all vaccines and prevention. Story
Name: CASPERAge:     Born: 04/25/2019              Current Age: 7 yrs/ 4 mthsBreed:  Catahoula Leopard DogSex:       Female - spayedWeight:  75 LbsImpairments:  Legally Blind & DeafSuspect she SEES shadows & she reacts to LOUD noises.  Extremely intelligent. Has the whole house mapped out, including the outside pen.  She NEVER runs into anything. Extremely independent. Her disabilities are hardly noticeable. I have had company that didn’t realize that she was blind or deaf. However, she does rely heavily on her scents. If a stranger is here. She will smell them & then retreat to one of her family members until she is certain they are safe toBe around.  She has NEVER shown aggression to anyone stranger or anyone else.Potty Trained:  YES. Uses doggie door - goes down 2 flights of stairs into a fenced in area. Comes back up stairs & back thru the doggie door effortlessly!  Crate Trained:  when adopted bought LARGE house shaped crate. The door was left opened during day unless we went somewhere.  She eventually got to a place that she never used it. She stays in the house even whn gone. She has a doggie bed she lays on & likes to sit & sleep in her daddy’s recliner.Good w: other dogs:  she has ALWAYS lived with many other dogs.  Currently lives with a Pit Bull service dog, 14 yr old Shar Pei, older Maltese, 3 yr old Jack Russell/Chahuahua, and two pit bull puppies.  Absolutely no problems there. Good w cats:  Don’t  know. Currently have a smallKitten.  Casper shows noInterest in it at all.  Suspect would get along w an older cat that is used to being connected with a dog already. Good e kids:  My children are 14 & 15. Casper adores them.  She LIVES attention and especially butt scratches . She will throw her head back and with a soft pretty voice will slightly howl. A sign she is in TOTAL approval!!  Small children I suspect she would be fine either way as long as they didn’t get too rough where she felt like she was in danger.  U have never had problems with friends w children. Commands:  at feeding time, I have taught her to sit & give me a law. Will also sit n give paw for a doggie biscuit.  You can stamp on the floor and she will come. She is extremely intelligent & very capable of learning new things!Fenced yard- YES!  For her own safety - being deaf & blind - WOULD NOT CONSIDER A HOME WITHOUT A FENCED YARD !!!!!!Need another dog in home - not necessarily.  However, she LIVES attention & just enjoys a lot of attention & love!  She has always been in my home with many other dogs.  She gets along with all dogs I have ever had.  She is very non/aggressive.  So she will be happy in either situation. Her being the only dog - or with another dog. Location:  Mt Washington, KY                              40047 - suburb of                    Louisville, KYEnergy Level - Loves to lay around with her human. Likes to lay on doggie bed & chew on bones. Often will lay on her back and roll around. Always alert & with other dogs. May play with toys if worked with. She IS careful because of her disability. I would say she is mainly low - medium energy level. Story:  Casper was introduced into my home as a puppy. I was unsure how she would do. I have had dogs w disabilities- but never a dual disability- like blind & deaf. My husband and all my friends said I was crazy and was getting not a difficult situation.  I went and met Giggles ( her name while at Speak for the Unspoken).  I went by myself from Ky to Oh to meet Casper.  I fell in love w her.  I brought her home.  She proved EVERYONE who said she would be a problem was wrong!! She fit in with my herd. Was potty broken in no time & when I had a doggie door installed - she was the FIRST of my dogs to figure out how to use it! She never bumps into walls or the fence in the yard.  She is incredible!!  Non agressive, extremely intelligent, loves to live on her humans. Likes to be involved w her family.  Does get kiddish whn on leash in unfamiliar locations - but does fine as long as she knows one of her family members are w her. She has no health issues other than being blind n deaf. A WONDERFUL DOG THATVWOULD BE A HREAT ADDITION TO A LOVING, CARING FAMILY!!! Casper has vet appointment August 21stwith the rest of my dogs.  She IS up to date on vaccinations- however is due for Rabies vaccine & will receive that day.  She is on heartworm preventative & flea & tick preventative.   ##2819417##
