**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Betty. I'm about 12 weeks old and I weigh about 20 lbs. My sister Dusty and I are both extremely sweet, smart pups looking for our loving new families. We are doing great with potty training and crate training, but like most pups our age, we will likely need a little more work. We are still babies, so you will need to teach us our basic manners as well as obedience training. We are very good with other dogs and we're super friendly with people. If you're looking for a sweet pup to add to your family, please consider adopting me! Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Meet handsome Lamar....this 2.5 year old plott hound/lab mix is 72 pounds of sweetness! He was picked up as a stray in St Thomas in February 2022 and spent months in the shelter where he shut down, not wanting to eat, walk or play. Neil, a volunteer at the shelter, fostered him and loved him until Neil left the island to work stateside. Instead of placing Lamar back in the shelter, the Pets With Wings Program brought him to Pet Search! Lamar loves other dogs and will thrive with a fur-sibling or two! and once he becomes comfortable, he will join and play, almost to the point of exhaustion! Lamar is very skittish when first meeting people and will bark out of anxiety, and will back away. After several weeks in foster care, he is warming up to his foster parents. Lamar needs time to adjust to new surroundings and will have accidents while feeling comfortable. He loves to sleep in bed or on a sofa, but is crate trained also. Lamar has shown no reactiveness to cats and would be a great playmate for older children due to his size and weight. Applications can he found at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog

Story
I am currently fostering Chapo with his bonded friend, Blacky. I would really like them to be adopted together, as their bond is strong and they have been on a long journey together. Both boys were saved from the euthanasia list in San Antonio, Texas. Chapo lived his life outside prior to arriving at my home, so he is working on potty training, but is making wonderful progress. He is learning how to be a dog and trust humans. Reluctant to trust at first, he is really coming out of his shell. He loves treats, gets along with other dogs, and does well with children also. He deserves the best life with someone who will spoil him and his best friend, Blacky.

On the roadside they melted, two souls in need, Scared and sweet, a tale of destiny to heed. Chips Ahoy and Oreo, abandoned but strong, Lab mixes of love, in the world, they belong. Together they dance, like cookies in delight, Found on the road, under the pale moonlight. Names that echo love, like a sweet melody, In a world so vast, they find harmony. For an active family, with hearts open wide, Chips Ahoy and Oreo, stand side by side. A duo of joy, in a furry embrace, With paws of love, they quicken life's pace. If you have a canine companion to adore, These lab mixes will give you even more. Adopt, don't shop, let their tails tell the tale, Of how love rescues, and fears assail. Story
Meet Tilly, she's a bit quirky at first but let me tell you about how amazing she is if you give her a little time to get to know you. She's a cuddle bug and loves to sleep right next to you at night. When you come home, Tilly is so excited her wiggle butt makes her whole body shake side to side. She's crate trained, housebroken, plays well with other dogs, and great on walks. She knows sit, down, stay and her release word. Loves to carry a stuffed animal around with her, she will need a few as some will not last very long. Tilly loves to chew on empty water bottles she steals from her foster sister. She signals at the back door to let you know she needs to potty and will sunbathe outside when you let her. The quirky, she needs time to get to know you. She is nervous around new people. Will need a slow intro to her new family with older kids. Tilly doesn't like fast movements when she is anxious until she finally warms up to you. Tilly is a local adoption only. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
