We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Dipsy, 1.5 years old, neutered male, black mouth cur and plot hound mix, 64lbs. Dipsy is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Dipsy is a tall, dark, handsome introvert with perfect natural eyeliner, soft soulful eyes, and fur so smooth you’ll want to pet him (please do—he loves a good brushing). He’s a mysterious-but-goofy boy who proudly digs through toy boxes like an archaeologist on a mission to select the perfect one and rolls in the grass like he’s checking into a luxury spa. Dipsy takes time to bond, but once he trusts you, he’ll wake you with gentle paw taps and his deep “Barry White” morning voice. He loves to play—sometimes a little too enthusiastically—so he appreciates help remembering to take cooldown breaks. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes, plays politely with cats when he’s bored, and does best with kids 10+ since he’s still working on toning down his excited “love pinches.” Dipsy is housebroken, crate trained, respectful around food and toys, fantastic in the car, but might steal a snack off the counter. He also loves sliding himself under your desk like a big furry foot warmer, “talks” when you come home like he’s giving you a full recap of his day, and once in a while stares dramatically into the distance as if he’s in an indie film. His ideal home has adults or older kids, ideally another dog friend, and people who enjoy walks, playtime, and letting an introvert unfold at his own pace. Gypsy came in as a stray from a woman who said she spotted her along the road while driving. Freshly named, she is 60 lbs and a gorgeous reddish brown brindle, with amazingly white teeth, giving way to a guess that she is no more than 2 years old. She is a strong but a decent walker, but not happy to be confined in her kennel, where she cries. However, once in the trailer, she is a different dog; calm, likes to play fetch, and well-behaved. Her underside speaks to her having puppies in the past. Her kennel is clean each morning which indicates a housebroken dog. Gypsey would rather be with people than in her kennel, but seems to be fine around some of the dogs.

Meet handsome Lamar....this 2.5 year old plott hound/lab mix is 72 pounds of sweetness! He was picked up as a stray in St Thomas in February 2022 and spent months in the shelter where he shut down, not wanting to eat, walk or play. Neil, a volunteer at the shelter, fostered him and loved him until Neil left the island to work stateside. Instead of placing Lamar back in the shelter, the Pets With Wings Program brought him to Pet Search! Lamar loves other dogs and will thrive with a fur-sibling or two! and once he becomes comfortable, he will join and play, almost to the point of exhaustion! Lamar is very skittish when first meeting people and will bark out of anxiety, and will back away. After several weeks in foster care, he is warming up to his foster parents. Lamar needs time to adjust to new surroundings and will have accidents while feeling comfortable. He loves to sleep in bed or on a sofa, but is crate trained also. Lamar has shown no reactiveness to cats and would be a great playmate for older children due to his size and weight. My foster family says that I am the most appreciative and loyal of all the fosters they have ever had. I’m just so happy to be in a warm, safe, and soft place after almost a year at shelters and in boarding! A little bit more about me…I’m about 3 and a half years old and am a Plott Hound. This means I love to smell all the smells and really enjoy being outside. I would love a fenced in yard to explore, but it isn’t necessary as I’m pretty laid back and willing to chill with you on the couch if you’d prefer - again if you’re petting me, I’m there! I enjoy when people visit the house and do great with company. I’m a people pleaser! I also do well home alone when you need to leave for work or events without me and am fully house broken. My fosters say I’m smart - I’ve learned to sit, stay and give a paw in a short amount of time! I love these treats they give me and am happy to do as you wish for one! My foster mom says I have a history of being dog selective. I’m not sure what that means really, but she thinks I would do best in a home with no other male dogs. While I love the kiddos at my foster house, I need a house with no kiddos. I would be a great house protector for a single person or a third wheel to a couple.
