Story
Short Legs Don't Care has a equally awesome personality to match his name! He is carefree, happy, and his excitement is contagious. He loves to play with toys with or without you. If you are busy, he will throw the toy up in the air and catch it. He's super silly and is a little bit clumsy due to his abnormally short legs for his body size. When meeting other dogs, he just wanted to play and have a party! He is a Plott Hound mix, around a year old, and weighs 52 lbs. If you are interested in meeting this pet, please call us at (804) 748-1683, option "2", to schedule an appointment. Our hours are Monday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 52 Age: 1yrs 7mths 1wks

Story
Vinnie is an estimated 1.5-year-old pup with a big smile, a playful personality, and so much love to give. We’re guessing he may be a Dutch Shepherd/Plott Hound mix with his gorgeous brindle coat and athletic build. This handsome boy is friendly, dog friendly, house trained, crate trained, and already knows “sit” like a pro. He’s the kind of dog who makes life easier while still bringing plenty of fun and personality to the table. Vinnie is young, active, and eager to be part of a family. Whether it’s walks, playtime, learning new things, or just hanging out with his people, he’s happy just being included. He has such a happy, approachable energy and has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite. Now all he needs is a home of his own. To meet Vinnie, email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com

Story
Maggie is a beautiful Plott Hound mix who has come an incredibly long way in foster care and continues to impress everyone she meets. Maggie is a deeply affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her people. In foster care, she has become increasingly cuddly and confident, happily seeking out attention and affection. When invited, she’ll come over for kisses and even wrap her paws around her favorite people in the sweetest way. She loves spending time outdoors soaking up the sunshine, watching birds, and exploring the yard. In a secure area, Maggie enjoys off-leash time and reliably returns to the door when she’s ready to come inside. She also has a playful side and loves chasing sticks and interacting with her people. One of Maggie’s biggest accomplishments is her dedication to training. She recently graduated from a beginner obedience class and did so well that her trainer highly praised her behavior and progress. Maggie is now enrolled in an advanced training program that includes additional obedience classes and private sessions to continue building her skills and confidence. Maggie is house trained, crate trained, and settles nicely into a household routine. She enjoys being part of the family while also being able to relax independently when needed. Because of her prey drive, Maggie is not a fit for homes with cats or small animals. She can also be reactive to some small dogs and will need thoughtful introductions to canine companions. With proper management and continued training, she has shown that she is capable of making excellent progress. Maggie is looking for an adopter who will appreciate her intelligence, loyalty, and loving personality while continuing the training and structure that have helped her thrive. She has already come so far and continues to blossom every day. To learn more about Maggie or arrange a meeting, please contact adoptpetersburg@gmail.com.

Story
Penny is thriving in her foster home. This gorgeous Catahoula Leopard Dog mix runs twice a week with KB’S K9 Fitness LLC, snuggles like a pro at home, and even curls up under the desk while her foster mom works. She is proving she’s the perfect mix of athlete and cuddlebug. Penny is currently working on her manners around other dogs. She gets very excited to make new friends (she just loves to play!) and is in training to help her stay calm and focused on walks. Because of this, she would do best as the only dog in the home for now while she continues building those skills and learning to share her toys.   If you want a ride-or-die partner who’s insanely intelligent, athletic, and just as sweet and snuggly as she is sporty, apply for Penny through Ring Dog Rescue.   Penny is one very loved girl, and she comes with training support for life! Let’s get this girl into her perfect home!   If you are interested in adopting Penny, please fill out an application today!June 8, 2026, 2:30 pm
