That’s all Spirit had left when we rescued her from the shelter where she’d been waiting for weeks. A staff favorite and the undeniable queen of doggy playgroup, Spirit was adored— but as the days passed and the noise, isolation, and lack of stimulation wore her down, she started to panic. With only an hour a day (at best!) outside of her kennel, she grew desperate, even injuring herself trying to get out (you might notice the healing mark above her eye). But the moment she landed in her foster home, Spirit’s true self began to shine— and oh, what a spirit she has.   Spirit is a 2 year old, 48 lb English Pointer mix who is playful, affectionate, and wildly full of life. She's the kind of dog who wakes up ready for joy and doesn't slow down until it's time to cuddle up and snooze. She starts her day around 6:30-7am, has a hearty breakfast, then spends the day zooming around the backyard, playing tag with the resident dog, and collecting as many toys as possible—soft, squeaky, chew, ball—she doesn’t discriminate. If it’s a toy, it’s her new favorite.   She is especially playful and loves to romp with other dogs, always reading their cues and knowing when to dial it down. After a good game of chase or sunbathing session, she’ll snuggle up on the couch (or right on top of you) for a nap. In the evening, she enjoys relaxing with her people, then heads to her crate around 10pm where she sleeps through the night like a champ.   Spirit is also wonderful with kids— especially older ones who are steady on their feet and can keep their electronics (and snacks!) out of reach. She's friendly and gentle, always excited to greet her human siblings in the morning with kisses and tail wags. During a recent pool party, Spirit happily patrolled the pool perimeter, licking water off kids’ heads and making sure everyone was having fun. She even tried a quick dip herself (once was enough!) and decided that lifeguard duty suited her better.   Is she perfect? Not quite— but close. Spirit is strong, food-motivated, and highly trainable. She already knows “sit” and responds to “no,” but she’ll need continued structure and supervision— especially when it comes to chewing and counter surfing. She walks on a leash but could use more practice; a harness helps, and she prefers a brisk pace with lots to sniff and see.   Spirit is crate-trained, house-trained, and a wonderful companion for an active home with a big yard, older kids, and another dog to play with (though she’d be fine as a solo pup, too—with plenty of people interaction and exercise).   This beautiful, goofy, snuggly, joyful girl was days away from being forgotten. Now, she’s unforgettable. If you’re looking for a dog who brings energy, heart, and a whole lot of fun to the table, Spirit is your girl.   Her name is Spirit for a reason—she never gave up, and she’s ready to live her best life.June 12, 2025, 5:01 am

Story
MEET LITTLE DUDE & PRINCE! This very unusual bonded pair of seniors lost their home in 2022, when the landlord said they had to go, for no fault of their own. They need a foster or forever home and have patiently waited for some wonderful person or people to adopt them. Little Dude is an 11-year-old pointer/pit mix, sweet as can be. He weighs about 60 lbs. Prince is a 14-year-old Pomeranian mix, and he is good with other dogs, though he is starting to get dementia. Prince weighs about 25 lbs. They are both people friendly, but Little Dude only wants to be with Prince -- so they need a home together as the only pets if possible. They are gentle, loving dogs who deserve a second chance in life with people who will love them through the rest of their years. They really need a home now! They are in good health and happy, and would do well with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. Please email for an application. We are looking for a foster or forever home for this wonderful pair.

Story
**Meet Elsa Saturday, May 31st from 11 to 1 at Dublin Petsmart west, 6960 Amador Plaza Rd.** ELSA is a 52 pound pointer mix with one of the sweetest faces you’ll ever meet. ELSA’s demeanor, like her namesake, has thawed considerably since her arrival at the shelter. It did take a while to get her used to getting on leash, but now she enjoys her walks, doesn’t pull and she should make a great exercise partner to help you get your daily steps in. At the shelter, the Pointer in her was fascinated by the birds coming to the feeders outside the yard she visited. Now in foster care, ELSA’s tail is always wagging to greet her foster family. She gets along with her 67 pound lab bud and her 10 pound chi bud and has expressed a willingness to play with them. Relationship with cats has not been established, but she hasn’t gone squirrel bonkers on her walks. She is still hesitant to get into a vehicle, but we’re working on that. Once she’s in the car, she rides fine. At the shelter, ELSA was given recommended canine vaccines, including Rabies vaccine needed to license her, and deworming treatment. TVAR has provided flea treatment and has arranged for her to be spayed and micro-chipped at the vet. ELSA is ready to leave her fur-now foster home and go on to her fur-ever home. Is it yours? If you're interested in Elsa, you can submit an application by clicking the "Apply For Adoption box " located below her photos on the right side. Story
Introducing this gorgeous brindle girl, Riley, to you! She is 11 months old, weighing in at about 33 lbs. She will probably be 40-45 lbs fully grown. You'll notice that she is missing her left eye. We had to have it removed as she had quite severe glaucoma and it could not be saved. The vets say that the other eye is fine and shows no signs of the same issue and requires no medication. We think she looks like a gorgeous pirate.  Riley is an active dog and will need an active family to keep her exercised and happy.  Riley is crate trained and smart, friendly and playful. She has some growing to do and like all puppies will need some further training. She is potty trained to pads.  If you'd like to adopt Riley and rent, please provide proof with application that you can have a dog who will be 40+ pounds.Riley will come to you spayed and completely vetted.Applications are available on our website www.4dogsfarmrescue.org under ADOPTION.ADOPTION FEE: $475.00 ##1532409##

Story
Amaya is a sweet, attentive girl who came to us from the Stanislaus County Shelter where she had run out of time. She's friendly and affectionate once she knows you, taking a minute or two (and some treats) to warm up to strangers. But when she does, she's great at giving hugs and kisses both on your hands and face if you'll let her. She knows a couple of basic commands but would love a home where she can learn more! She can be a little mouthy, but it's always very gentle and comes from a place of play, so a home that can work on this behavior with her would be perfect. She also LOVES squeaky chew toys, so she'd love some toys to call her own! Amaya needs some patience as she gets used to living in a home, learning what's expected of her. But she's already made great progress in training at Milo, and now happily sits on a bench and watches the world go by. With a little work on socialization (she prefers slow intros to other dogs), acclimatizing her to the human world, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation and she'll be a loving and energetic family member!
