Story
Aldo is a sweet, loveable, goof who is looking for a home of his own. We found him wandering one night in February and hespent a week at the local shelter in hopes that his family would locate him. When no one claimed him or showed interest, we went back for him as most big dogs don't make it out of that shelter. He is about 2yrs. He's not tall but he's solid - 80lbs of love and peace. He has all his vaccinations, is neutered, and is microchipped. He loves people and he loves giving hugs. He enjoys leisurely walks, car rides, pup cups, playing fetch and hanging out - in the garden, on the couch, basically wherever you are. And he likes cuddling. He is house trained and crate trained and makes a great house hippo. Aldo is leash trained but sometimes needs firm reminding as he can easily get distracted by squirrels and dogs that talk smack or give him attitude. He doesn't like cats.He would do great as an only dog but might be fine with another big dog given a proper introduction.

Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
Meet Harley B Breed: English Pointer Mix Sex: Female DOB: 1/13/2021 Weight: 40 Pounds Health: Healthy and spayed Harley B is a beautiful medium-sized girl with a gentle soul, a playful spirit, and a heart ready to give her whole love to the right family. At five years old, she has the wonderful balance of maturity and energy — she’s past the puppy chaos but still full of life, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the world around her. Harley may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her affectionate and loyal personality shines through in the most wonderful way. Personality, Breed Info & Expectations As an English Pointer / Terrier Mix, Harley will be an intelligent, affectionate, and energetic companion with a wonderful balance of athleticism and loyalty. This breed mix often combines the English Pointer's friendly, eager-to-please nature with the Terrier's confidence, curiosity, and spirited personality. They are social dogs that enjoy being part of the family and thrive when included in everyday activities. These dogs are naturally active and benefit from regular exercise, outdoor adventures, and opportunities to explore. They are quick learners who respond well to positive reinforcement training and enjoy activities that challenge both their mind and body. Whether it's hiking, playing fetch, or simply spending time with their favorite people, they are happiest when they have a job to do and plenty of companionship. An English Pointer / Terrier Mix would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and outdoor adventures Continued positive reinforcement training Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of companionship and family interaction A lifelong commitment to their emotional and physical well-being With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, an English Pointer / Terrier Mix grows into a loyal, well-mannered, and devoted companion who enjoys both active adventures and quiet time with the people they love. Breed & Lifestyle Traits Harley is an active, intelligent dog who thrives with regular exercise and mental stimulation. Dogs like Harley enjoy structure and routine, and they tend to form strong bonds with their humans. She does best when she has opportunities to move, explore, and interact with the world around her, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Training & Home Life Harley is already fully potty trained and crate trained, which makes her transition into a new home much smoother. She knows her basic commands and has a great foundation to continue building on with positive reinforcement training. She does well with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions around. However, Harley would do best in a home without cats or young children, as she thrives in a calmer, structured environment where she can feel relaxed and secure. ‍♀️ Activity Needs Harley loves movement and activity. Walks, outdoor time, and play sessions are some of her favorite things. A home with a yard would be ideal for her so she can stretch her legs and enjoy the outdoors. She would do wonderfully with an adopter who enjoys walks, light adventures, and spending quality time engaging with their dog. ⚠️ Things to Consider Before adopting Harley, it's important to consider your lifestyle and long-term stability. Are pets allowed where you live now and in the future? Do you have the time to provide daily exercise and companionship? Are you prepared for routine veterinary care and long-term financial responsibility? Are you ready for a commitment that lasts for the rest of Harley’s life? Adoption means providing a safe, loving home through every stage of life. Vet Care Although Harley is healthy and already spayed, it is important to establish care with your own veterinarian soon after adoption. This helps maintain her health through regular checkups and preventative care. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule Like most rescue dogs, Harley will need time to adjust to a new home. The first 3 days she may feel unsure or overwhelmed while she decompresses. The first 3 weeks she will begin learning your routine and feeling more secure. By 3 months, her confidence will grow and her loving personality will truly shine. Patience and consistency during this transition will help Harley thrive. Why Harley B Is So Special Harley B is a wonderful dog who simply needs the right environment to shine. With patience, love, and an active lifestyle, she will become an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. She is ready to share adventures, daily walks, and quiet moments with someone who will appreciate her sweet nature and gentle heart. For the right person or couple looking for a loving, active companion, Harley B could be the perfect best friend. Story
Name: Taki Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Pointer mix Color: White & Black Weight: 16 kg Height (shoulder): 57 cm   Rescue Story Taki entered a municipal shelter in December 2025, wearing a collar, which suggests he may have been abandoned. He was rescued just before euthanasia and transferred to our care in March.   ‍‍ With People Taki is an affectionate and social boy who loves being around people. He happily approaches both familiar and new people, leaning in for pets and attention. He is comfortable being handled and can be picked up by placing arms under his belly. Once he bonds with you, he will even roll over to show his belly.   With Other Dogs Taki is friendly and eager to interact with other dogs. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and invite them to play. If other dogs don’t engage, he may bark to express his desire to join in. He tends to be more comfortable with dogs of similar or smaller size and will avoid overly energetic or confrontational dogs. While he enjoys playing with dogs, he generally prefers people over other dogs when given the choice.   With Cats When he sees cats during walks, he shows curiosity but can be redirected easily and follows his handler well. Cat testing is available upon request.   Energy Level Taki has a moderate energy level. He enjoys outdoor activities and playtime, but he settles down nicely afterward. He loves to play, but his stamina is not very high—he often lies down to rest during play sessions.   ‍ Walks Taki is curious and enjoys sniffing, so he tends to move side to side during walks. He may pull occasionally when excited, and he is currently learning to walk calmly beside his handler.   Other Notes   Not possessive over food with people or dogs, but has a strong appetite and may try to take others’ food May show mild separation-related barking at first, but settles down after a while Uses barking to express wants, especially toward other dogs during play Very responsive and perceptive—he reads human emotions well and quickly understands boundaries Calm and quiet in a kennel Rides well in a crate and gets in and out of the car on his own Currently does outdoor potty   Personality Taki is a simple, pure-hearted, and joyful dog who brings warmth and happiness to those around him. His innocent and loving nature makes him incredibly endearing. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram!
