When I was born, I assure you I didn't want to grow up to be left in a high kill shelter, however, that is what happened to me. LUCKILY, the fates (and some awesome rescue folks) aligned and saved me from certain death and brought me to a safe place where I can find a REAL family and a REAL home. Let me tell you about myself, I am cute, happy, loving, nervous at times, but have the long legs of a pointer! I have lots of energy for running, jumping and playing and I have the handsome chiseled jaw that most actors would love to have! Now if you need a great looking chap, look my way!!! ADOPT...........DON'T SHOP!!! My LIFE depends on it!!! Local adoption fee is $300(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Cami is a sweet, affectionate German Wirehaired Pointer mix looking for her forever home. She came to the shelter through no fault of her own when her owner could no longer care for her, and it`s clear she was loved and well cared for. After being shuffled around a bit, she`s now settling into a foster home, where she`s showing everyone what a wonderful companion she is.Cami is a lover through and through. She adores attention and is always ready to share a kiss or two (or ten). She`s house trained, and doesn`t jump on people (although she does think she`s a lap dog). She`s gentle, smart, and eager to please.She`s also a dream with other dogs. She`s doing great in her foster home with three other dogs, happily letting the resident Chihuahua call all the shots and the two other big resident dogs tell her when she`s overstepped her bounds. Cami is easygoing and submissive, and so far, shows no observable prey drive. She doesn`t react to other dogs, squirrels, or distractions on walks, and she`s even lived calmly (albeit briefly) alongside a turkey! She hasn`t been tested with cats yet, but given her gentle nature, she may do well with a feline friend. While she enjoys canine company, another dog in the home isn`t a must.Cami is an energetic girl who needs plenty of exercise, and she would do best in a home with a fenced yard. She loves chasing balls and brings them right back! She`d be a perfect match for an active person or family who enjoys hiking and time outdoors, and she`s great in the car, so she`s ready to come along on adventures. She does ok in a crate or pen for short periods, but she isn`t a dog who`ll be happy cooped up for hours. She thrives on activity and companionship.Leash walking is still a work in progress, but Cami is food motivated and smart, which makes her highly trainable. She`ll be working on some skills while in foster, and she`ll keep learning quickly with a little consistency from her new family.Because she`s a larger, energetic dog, Cami would do best with older children who are steady on their feet.She`s just started living in a foster home so updates will come as we learn more about her.If you`re looking for a loving, fun, and loyal adventure buddy who will greet you with kisses at the end of every day, Cami might be your girl!

This sweet girl came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed. Unfortunately, she is not thriving in the shelter environment and would do best in a home where she can have plenty of space, enrichment, and activity. She is a smart girl who knows tricks and absolutely loves toys! She would thrive with an adopter who enjoys keeping their dog busy and engaged. A home with acreage would be ideal, but an active household that can provide plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and one-on-one time could also be a great fit. Because she is struggling in the shelter, she may experience anxiety in certain situations and will need an adopter who is patient, understanding, and willing to work with her as she adjusts to a new environment. We would not recommend a crate-based home or a situation where she would need to spend significant amounts of time confined to a crate. She has so much potential and would benefit from someone willing to give her the time, structure, enrichment, and patience she needs to feel secure. A committed adopter could make a huge difference in helping her become the happy, confident dog we know she can be.
