Meet Boston – Your Future Loyal Sidekick! 🐾 Boston is a charming, one-of-a-kind pup who’s ready to win over the heart of a patient and understanding adopter. This squeaker-seeking, fetch-loving goofball thrives on scent walks, car rides, and cozy nights watching TV by your side. He’s a pro at chew toys, a true foodie, and loves nothing more than the company of another canine companion. Boston is crate, house, and leash trained. Once he trusts you, he becomes the most loyal snuggle buddy you could ask for. While he takes time to warm up to new people, especially men, he bonds deeply with his person - ideally a calm, dog-savvy female. Although he’ll need continued support and structure to thrive in his forever home, the reward is a devoted best friend for life. No cats for this guy, please, but if you’ve got another friendly dog, Boston will be thrilled to have a furry sibling. Are you the right match for Boston’s big heart and playful spirit? Story
Meet Rubix - a lovable, playful one-year-old mixed breed weighing 59 lbs. Rescued from NYCACC, his past remains a mystery, but we believe he once had a special boy in his life whom he dearly misses. He’s particularly drawn to his teenage foster brother, showcasing the affectionate bond he can form with older kids. One thing is for sure and his foster family can attest to this: he makes a wonderful companion. Known for his bright personality, Rubix is an absolute sweetheart and so smart with an impressive command of tricks. He responds to commands like sit, down, settle, wait, search, drop it, and is a jokester who can even play dead! He’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go outside (and boy does he love playing outdoors). Whether he’s cuddling up for a nap like a full-body pillow with the nearest human or racing around the yard, Rubix brings joy to everyone around him. At the heart of it all, he simply just loves to be loved. This sweet boy is perfect for a family with older kids or empty nesters who can appreciate his energy and love for play. He adores other dogs and enjoys playing with them, though he may need an active family familiar with larger breeds (though in his head, he thinks he's a little guy not aware of his size). Rubix is the quintessential pup who loves toys and is always ready for adventure—whether it’s hiking, beach days, or jogging alongside you. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who thrives on love and play, Rubix is your guy! Let’s give him the fresh start he’s been dreaming of. Apply today to adopt Rubix at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application using a computer or laptop. Together, we can make a difference for this amazing pup. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Birthdate:  03/08/2023Breed: One of a kindWeight:   75 lbsWatch My Video: Catch Game on PointImagine a stroll through the park, the sunshine beaming down, when suddenly, spots of joy come bounding your way. That's Roscoe, your future best friend! Roscoe isn't just any dog; he's a walking, barking sundae cone with his wonderful white coat sprinkled with black jimmies. His tail wags to the beat of love and excitement, painting smiles wherever he goes.  This boy likes treats, but LOVES toys!In a world full of ordinary pets, Roscoe stands out not just for his unique look but for his heart that's brimming with affection and loyalty. This cheerful pup is on a quest, not for the juiciest bone, but for a family in need of a dog named Roscoe. His ideal day? That's simple: sharing laughs, embarking on adventures in the backyard, or snuggling up for some cozy nap times.A note from Roscoe's Volunteer Rescue Buddy, Andrea:"When I decided to meet Roscoe, it was love at first sight! Roscoe is so smart and so kind. He has grown so much living at Paws Crossed. He works so hard to make his human people happy. All he wants is to be a good boy and make his humans proud.  He gets very excited, happy and even scared and anxious. But he really works so hard to control those emotions and to learn to trust. When I first started walking Roscoe he would get so scared easily, scared of bikes, new people, noises. I think he still gets a little scared, but knows he is safe and how to control his emotions. Treats help a lot. Roscoe is very treat focused. He isn't picky either! He no longer reacts to bikes, he actually doesn't even notice them. He is a dream on the leash and loves a long walk. He is the best walking partner. He will always walk at the speed you want. He likes it when I talk to him during the walk. He likes to be engaged and to know I am there. Roscoe knows so many commands now too - sit, down, stay and look. He will also take a treat so gently from volunteers and always sits first. Then he is so proud of himself. It does take some time for Roscoe to build trust. He doesn't have a lot of volunteers that walk him, but the ones he does have love him so much and vice versa. One of my favorite things about Roscoe is that I truly believe he looks out for me on our walks. He always goes extra slow when it's rainy or snowy and when we are on a hill. I can use him as a brace, so I don't fall. He has never pulled me, ever! In the warm weather he loves to walk in the stream, but always goes in, so slow, so I do not get pulled in. Roscoe also loves a cuddle and pet on the couch. I call it Couch Time and he gets so excited. He showers me with kisses. When Roscoe feels he is in a stressful situation he looks up at me and I know he is asking for his squeaky, plastic football toy. When he has that toy in his mouth, he is relaxed and feels safe. It would be important to have plenty of soft, squeaky plastic dog toys for him. Ones he can put pressure into without breaking. They help his anxiety! Stuffy toys are no match for him! Roscoe would need an owner with patience in the beginning. He is the best buddy to chat to if you are having a rough day or just need to get something off your chest. I know he listens to me."Ready for doggie playdates and all the love you can give, Roscoe promises to sprinkle a little extra happiness into your life. Will your home be the one he fills with joy? Dive into a world of tail wags, play, and endless cuddles. Roscoe's ready. Are you? Walk-ins are welcome! If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
Birthdate:  02/24/2017Breed: One of a kindWeight:   56 lbsCheck out my Video: Digging up the good stuff!Meet Liam – A Gentle Soul with a Heart Full of Love Liam hasn’t always had the easiest start. When he was rescued, he was malnourished and weak—but thanks to some incredible people in Georgia, this brave boy got his second chance. Now, Liam is thriving, and he’s ready to find the loving home he’s always deserved. This sweet, sensitive guy is the full package: a total gentleman on leash, a connoisseur of quiet walks, and a fan of wading into the stream to blow little bubbles in the water (yes, it’s as adorable as it sounds). What really melts hearts, though, is how he checks in during walks—stopping just to look at you with those soulful eyes, offer a gentle boop or kiss, and flash his charming little chicklet teeth.Beneath Liam's soft exterior is a kind-hearted, affectionate pup who just wants to feel safe and loved. He’s looking for someone who understands that the best relationships are built on trust, patience, and a whole lot of love.Could your home be the soft place Liam has been waiting to land?A note from Liam's Rescue Buddy: "Liam is the friend everyone needs in their life. He is a fantastic listener, and his gratitude for time spent with him is palpable. While his communication is wordless, it's easy to feel his love and comfort, and it's difficult not to feel a sense of calm and peace when walking or snuggling him!" Walk-ins are welcome!
