Story
Meet Milkshake
At just 10 years old, little Milkshake has already faced more challenges than most dogs do in a lifetime.
When she arrived at Satchel's Last Resort, she was carrying several enormous mammary tumors, horrible teeth, and a cherry eye. This could have all been prevented by spaying her at a younger age. Despite everything she had been through, Milkshake remained sweet, gentle, and trusting. Thanks to our veterinary team, her tumors were successfully removed, her cherry eye was repaired, she had a dental, and she was spayed.
Unfortunately, one of the tumors was found to be cancerous.
Recently, Milkshake returned for a recheck after developing a cough following surgery. While we had hoped it was something minor, further diagnostics revealed that she has a collapsing trachea and evidence that her cancer has spread to her lungs.
The truth is, we don't know how much time Milkshake has left. It could be months, it could be longer, but what we do know is that she deserves more than a shelter kennel for whatever time remains.
Milkshake is a loving little Chihuahua who enjoys soft beds, gentle affection, and simply being near her people. She isn't looking for much—just a warm lap, a cozy home, and someone willing to love her through this chapter of her life.
Opening your heart to a dog at this stage of life is never easy, but it is one of the greatest gifts you can give. Milkshake has spent years carrying burdens she never should have had to bear. We'd love nothing more than for the rest of her story to be filled with comfort, kindness, and the love of a family.
If you've ever considered fostering or adopting a senior dog in need, Milkshake is waiting to meet you.
