Story
~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam ***** Temperament: Meet Dezi, a delightful one-year-old Chihuahua/Min-Pin mix(our best guess) who is sure to warm your heart. At approximately 15 pounds, this small to medium-sized pup is full of energy and affection. Dezi has long legs and an even longer list of lovable qualities. She forms strong bonds with her humans and thrives on companionship, making her an ideal family pet. Friendly and respectful, Dezi loves to engage with other dogs and enjoys playful interactions. She demonstrates a gentle nature, backing down gracefully when corrected by her furry friends. With her playful spirit, Dezi would greatly benefit from a home with another friendly dog to share adventures with. Dezi is not just a great player; she is also highly intelligent. You’ll be amazed at how quickly she learns commands like “stay,” and she confidently uses a dog door. Equally at home during playtime or snuggling on the couch, Dezi has the perfect balance of energy and calmness. Though she is a door darter and might attempt to sneak out if given the chance, she responds well to training and can be trusted with a little guidance. A family or individual looking for a loving companion will find their match in Dezi—she's ready to fill your home with joy and affection as she settles into her forever family. --  Where did she come from: She was rescued off the streets right before the freeze. Sadly, no owners have come looking for her even though she was posted everywhere and the shelter was notified. Sadly, she was not chipped.  Adoption: ***** $400.00 ***** Weight: 14.3 lbs. Story
~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: ***** He has some hip/back pain at intake and on pain meds for awhile but now he just takes supplements for joints and he's doing well. ***** Temperament:  Flannel was a little spicy when he came into the rescue, so he's called Chili in his foster home as often as he is Flannie.  It could just be the chihuahua in him or his past.  He was found abandoned in a crate with two other dogs on a hot day in a rough part of town in San Francisco.  No food or water in a wire crate for days, hot and scared.  Luckily a homeless person hiked to a gas station to use their phone to call the local shelter who took them in.  He was a mess with matted hair and overgrown nails.  He was brave and defended his little buddy but once he was alone with the shelter workers he was a sweetie looking for cuddles. They called Recycled Poms and we made arrangements to pick him up.  He's done great here, and is a sweetheart.  He loves his foster dad and is usually on his lap, on his blanket on the couch next to him, or curled up on dad's blanket on the floor.  I don't think he left the couch for weeks, kind of got possessive for a bit, but he's one of the pack now.  Dad and couch still his favorite though.  He gets along with all the other littles in the house, and the cat, and the big dog but he tends to try to boss her around, and a little yappy at her.  Loves to chase her when she goes out to run.  As sweet as he can be he does not like to be surprised so he has bitten (sharp teeth!) when he's unaware of an incoming nudge or pick up.  Those have gotten farther apart though.  So, he will not be adopted to a home where there will be young children who can be unpredictable.  He needs an adopter that can read his body language because he will tell you if he's not liking something.  He likes to be carried so he'd be a good traveling companion, but car travel is best in a carrier or belted in the back seat because he likes to get in your lap.  He's very food motivated, loves treats and soft foods.  He's got a funny little bark and a bad habit of being very vocal about anyone leaving the house.  He needs patience with potty training, he wears a belly band now and will wee on just about anything.  But his foster home has many dogs now and over the years so hopefully consistency and just his own smells will be all it takes to make him a good boy.  He's such a little cutie awaiting his forever home!   -- Where did he come from: Stray in San Francisco California  Adoption: ***** $500.00 ***** Weight: 7 lbs.
