Name: Frappe Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of July 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 11.5 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special adoption considerations: Because Frappe is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. Frappeis Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own but she has closed that chapter and is eagerly looking forward to the next one, where she once again has her own humans for sniffy walks, world exploration, and snuggles! She also needs extra loving and patient adopters who understand she has not seen enough of the world yet, and is shy right now. A welcoming resident dog who shows her the ropes will help too! Most of all, though, she wants to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved. In exchange, she promises loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Does she have a spot in your lap and your life? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has spent time in foster care. Heartworm information: Frappe is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now!
