Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Little Chihuahua with big ears and eyes of gold KIRKZ NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Kirkz and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (May 26th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!     Name:   Kirkz          Best Guess for Breed:   Chihuahua and terrier mix     Best Guess for Age:   1 year, 6 months as of 1/12/2024     SEX:    male   Approximate Weight:   12 lbs.   Gets Along With:    Other dogs. Kirkz cannot go to a home with kids under age 12 due to his breed. He also cannot go to a home with cats.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Check out this video of Kirkz: https://youtu.be/MK5RmRW8vmw.   Special adoption considerations:    No kids under 12 due to breed and no cats.   Kirkz is Looking For:   Kirkz can't wait to see what life in the big city is like. Chihuahuas are energetic little busybodies who keep their pet parents amused with their antics. They aren't meant to be running partners but Chihuahuas are happy to accompany you on frequent walks around the neighborhood to check out the exciting scents and meet new people. This adorable little guy is sure to break hearts with his big ears and soulful golden eyes.   Dog parks with a designated small dog area are best for these little ones. .Doggie daycare would be another great way for him to play and make new canine friends. Chihuahuas are known for having a bold, 'big dog attitude'  start training early with Kirkz. You will both have loads of fun as learns how to show you what a good boy he can be. What My Foster Says About Me: Kirkz is such a sweet, silly little boy! I can’t sit down without jumping onto my lap, and when I come near him in the house he rolls on his back and demands tummy rubs. He gets along beautifully with Gracie, my Chi/MinPin mix, who’s literally twice his size. When I have dinner he will lie down with his head resting on my thigh, patiently waiting for me to share with him. In addition to the usual, he loves broccoli, carrots, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, and pasta.  He loves his crate, and will often rest there during the day; when I pass by it, he’ll follow me around to make sure he doesn’t miss any new adventures in the house. Kirkz is a bit of a puller on walks, but at 15 pounds, it’s no biggie. He greets every human he meets like a long-lost relative, but he can be quite picky when it comes to choosing his doggie friends. He loves car rides, and will usually settle in and curl up after a minute or two. He hasn't had an accident in my house in almost a month. He’s a pup that you have to meet one-on-one to appreciate his many charms and attributes. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations. Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! MALCOLM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Malcolm     Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua/Terrier mix Best Guess for Age:   3 years 11 months as of April 2024        SEX: Male Approximate Weight:  12.6 lbs Gets Along With:  Malcolm does well with other dogs. We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested once he has arrived in the DC area. Due to his breed mix, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.  Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations:  Malcolm is from a hoarding/cruelty situation, and was very scared at rescue. He was placed in a short term foster home pending a hoped-for flight to the DC area on 4/13 (foster or adopter needed for that to happen!) and has been making great strides! We think he will benefit from being in a home with a welcoming resident dog or having numerous opportunities to be around other dogs in various environments - they will show him how to dog in new places! Extra patient and loving humans are definitely needed. Additionally, due to his breed mix, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12.    Malcolm is Looking For:  For a loving home that delivers all the sweet things his rescuers whispered in his ear.... 'You're safe now, sweet boy. The life you deserve starts now. You get lots of love, quality kibble, a cushy dog bed - and a warm lap if you'd like too. You're safe now, sweet boy.'   Malcolm was rescued from a hoarding/cruelty case and landed in a massive south Texas shelter that routinely has 1200-1500 animals in their care; his chances of being adopted in that area are, well, low to nil. Once he arrives in the DC area, he likely will be nervous in new environments. He is eager to get his own humans - ones who get that he might need extra support during his adjustment and give himall the love and patience he needs. And ones who take him for sniffy walks and all those adventures he's been missing out on - he's in his prime and has lost time to make up for! And what do his humans they get in return? An incredibly sweet and loving dog with an enormous stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship to offer the humans in his new chapter.     What do you say? Will you help him write it? What My Foster Says About Me:   Malcolm is super sweet and made great strides since arriving. He did not know how to walk on a leash at first (he would just stand there and not move) and now he loves going for walks! He also loves to stare out the window. He follows me around everywhere and loves to cuddle. We are working on learning to ‘sit’ and he’s getting there. He has gotten much better with the potty training and gets along with other dogs (though he does appear more shy at adoption events than at home). Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, his neuter and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Holly is a 13 year old chihuahua dachshund mix. I got her from an SPCA in Pennsylvania when she was 2 years old. She has no teeth and she had cancer on her ear and got the tumor and part of her ear removed in December 2022. The tumor was diagnosed as a high grade mast cell tumor, meaning it had likely spread to other parts of her body. The vet recommended chemo, which I decided not to do. She is old and needs to be taken out regularly to go potty. She occasionally has accidents if she is not taken out regularly. She is sweet and loves to cuddle. She likes to sleep under blankets and get pets. She likes to go for short walks as she cannot walk as long as she used to due to her age. I am moving and unfortunately cannot take my dog with me. I am looking for someone who can give her the time and attention she needs as a senior dog.

Story
Rodney is a very curious, mischievous little guy who gets into everything, just like a little puppy. They say this guy is around 8 years of age and weighs 12 pounds, but he acts like a kid and he shows it by running a lot out of pure joy and fun and he adores being outdoors and laying in the sun. He is not good on a leash yet and is not housebroken but we are working on both. Cats are not welcome in his world at this point because he finds them strange and annoying.  But he redeems himself with a family by loving to cuddle and snuggle.  Can you believe that underbite he has?  I mean it is the first thing you sort of notice about him.  It might make him look tough but Rodney is a 'softie' through and through.  He is just an adorable, sweet pup and he deserves a much better home than the hoarding conditions that he came from.  Maybe you want to help him see the blessings of a new home and secure lifestyle.  He will make you laugh, he will make you smile and he will make you feel loved!  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in giving him a forever home.  Please tell us the city and state that you live in when you write to us. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 25, 2024, 10:11 am

Story
Sam Silver is a handsome and most unusually colored Chihuahua boy that is only 5 years old and a perfect size at just 12 pounds.  This boy is an athlete and can climb any mountain and jump across any river.  Thus we call him .....a little escape artist. He loves being outside and laying in the sun where he is cultivating his summer tan.  This guy gets along with people, other dogs but has decided that cats are NOT his cup of tea.  He loves to terrorize the foster cats who are smart, fast and not about to get caught. If they leave his room then he is fine.  That is all he wants.  Sam Silver is good on a leash and we are working on housebreaking. He’s a snuggler both on the couch and as a bed bug under the covers at nighttime. He’s just so much fun to watch as he explores this new foster home after he escaped the tiny God forbidden shelter he was in because his owner was a terrible hoarder with a nasty environment.  He deserves a peaceful and fun family.  Is that you?  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  Please tell us where you live, city and state.  We transport from Tennessee to many places in the northeast.    PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 25, 2024, 10:11 am

Story
This is our boy that we call Grateful Gibbs and he is truly just that.  He knows that he spent his first year of life in a rather chaotic and barely attentive backyard breeder environment.  The woman finally admitted that she didn’t want to keep breeding and has allowed Critter Cavalry Rescue to take her leftovers that were never adopted as puppies. The woman had a baby and then had no time for the dogs she was supposed to be breeding and getting the puppies adopted.  Nothing wrong with Grateful Gibbs except that he lived a good deal of the time with little attention and mostly in a large crate.  Boy is he forever “grateful” to be out of that terrible house and being offered to a good family that Critter Cavalry Rescue has promised to find for him. He is just ONE YEAR OLD and only 10 pounds.  He is shy at first because he has had such limited exposure to people other than the woman and her family at the breeder home.   This boy call Gibbs, is not totally housebroken but a bellyband worn for a while will help in the learning process.  Once he has time to learn a new house routine and a bathroom schedule is established, then he will be fine.  Our boy is fully grown and will not be any bigger than 10 pounds.  Young and needing love we are seeking someone that can give Gibbs what he has never had.  Unconditional love and commitment.  Please write to us at Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Gibbs slowly warms up to you, but once he does, it is on.  This boy is your best friend.  He is super duper smart, catches on quickly.  Gibbs loves other dogs, gets along well with cats, and loves humans.  Riding in a car is one of his favorite things and he is always out for an adventure.  Gibbs is one years of age and with his breed and size, he has many years ahead.  He is neutered, UTD on all vaccinations, HW negative, and healthy as can be.  Gibbs uses the puppy pad, but foster mom is working on housebreaking. .  But as smart as he is – he is quickly learning to go outside. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 25, 2024, 10:11 am
