Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Little Chihuahua with big ears and eyes of gold KIRKZ NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Kirkz and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (July 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!     Name:   Kirkz          Best Guess for Breed:   Chihuahua and terrier mix     Best Guess for Age:   1 year, 6 months as of 1/12/2024     SEX:    male   Approximate Weight:   17 lbs.   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We do not recommend Kirkz for a home with cats.   Special Adoption Considerations: We would be cautious placing Kirkz in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Check out this video of Kirkz: https://youtu.be/MK5RmRW8vmw.   Kirkz is Looking For:   Kirkz can't wait to see what life in the big city is like. Chihuahuas are energetic little busybodies who keep their pet parents amused with their antics. They aren't meant to be running partners but Chihuahuas are happy to accompany you on frequent walks around the neighborhood to check out the exciting scents and meet new people. This adorable little guy is sure to break hearts with his big ears and soulful golden eyes.   Dog parks with a designated small dog area are best for these little ones. .Doggie daycare would be another great way for him to play and make new canine friends. Chihuahuas are known for having a bold, 'big dog attitude'  start training early with Kirkz. You will both have loads of fun as learns how to show you what a good boy he can be. What My Foster Says About Me: Kirkz is such a sweet, silly little boy! I can’t sit down without jumping onto my lap, and when I come near him in the house he rolls on his back and demands tummy rubs. He gets along beautifully with Gracie, my Chi/MinPin mix, who’s literally twice his size. When I have dinner he will lie down with his head resting on my thigh, patiently waiting for me to share with him. In addition to the usual, he loves broccoli, carrots, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, and pasta.  He loves his crate, and will often rest there during the day; when I pass by it, he’ll follow me around to make sure he doesn’t miss any new adventures in the house. Kirkz is a bit of a puller on walks, but at 17 pounds, it’s no biggie. He greets every human he meets like a long-lost relative, but he can be quite picky when it comes to choosing his doggie friends. He loves car rides, and will usually settle in and curl up after a minute or two. He hasn't had an accident in my house in months. He’s a pup that you have to meet one-on-one to appreciate his many charms and attributes. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations. Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is puppers! is not predatory cat! LYNX NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Lynx       Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix  Best Guess for Age:   6 years as of July 2024       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:   9.2 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested.  We would be cautious placing Lynx in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home    See this sweetie enjoy some pets in the shelter in this video! - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iIkbc62MRDE All about Lynx:“Oh my. What a love. What a sweetie.” That was her foster’s first reaction upon meeting her. Her foster says that Lynx is a gentle and calm little pup who loves snuggling up on soft bedding. She is very chill in the home, simply curling up next to her foster’s lap when on the sofa, at her feet while her foster is working - the perfect WFH companion. She doesn’t demand attention, but stays close and shows deep gratitude when she gets pets and scratches.  She sleeps quietly overnight in her crate and often goes in on her own during the day. She knows outside is for potty and finds her spots within a few minutes of going out on leash. She took a few days to get to know her foster's resident dogs and then started playing with - and initiating - sweet play with the one that is close to her size. She also loves the variety of plush dog toys in her foster's home and takes big ones - half her size! - back to her crate to snuggle.  Lynx loves her sniffy walks and is eager to explore. Her foster lives in the city and Lynx gravitates to grassy patches and triangle parks for sniffing.   Her body - the (healed) ragged tips of her ears, the stretched out nipples - shows she likely had it hard earlier in her life. But her spirit and the absolute love and trust she shows in her humans shows she likely lived in a wonderful home with kind humans after that. “What a love. What a sweetie.” That is still her basic essence.  Lynx wants nothing more than to be safe and loved for all her days - to be a loyal, loving companion. What do you say? Are you the soft landing this sweetie deserves? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and transport from the shelter. Currently Living At: DC area foster home Check out this video of Tory: https://youtu.be/v_sZh6rorqI. Tory is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Sure, she's not a young pup any longer but you know, small dogs can live quite a long time and Tory will have plenty of energy for quite some time to come! You may notice that Tory has a cherry eye in the photos. The good news is that will be fixed while by the time she arrives in the DC area. What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she's under her own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and little tail wags and to always make you smile. What do you say? Is Tory the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: Tory is doing great! She’s incredibly sweet and fun to have around! I haven’t seen her around kids yet but she adores everyone she meets. She’s smart and clearly well behaved. I was impressed by how much she sped along on our walk. I left her in her crate for a few hours and she seemed to handle it well. She loves playing with her toys and cuddling up on the sofa. Story
Female, 1.5 years old, 31 lbs Personality: snuggler, smart, playful, loyal, goofy/funny, trustworthy, energetic, and affectionate. Nugget is such an affectionate little girl who loves to sniff and snuggle and kiss her friends. She's incredibly smart and playful, and enjoys adventures! She is such a fan of playing with dog toys that she finds digging in the toy bin to be an exciting activity. Nugget also enjoys playing with other dogs at the dog park and trying to chase the occasional squirrel while out on a walk. She also loves human attention of any kind, especially belly rubs. She is loyal, bonds quickly to her human, and provides endless cuddles. Chewing on bully sticks is an essential part of her pre-nap ritual! Nugget is a smart girl who hasn't had accidents inside the home. This good girl is well behaved and can be left alone with free run of the house -- Nugget simply waits by the door for her humans to come back home and greets them with a tail wag! She's food-motivated and is doing well with learning words like sit, down, and of course treat! Nugget takes a little while to warm up to new people and places, but once she does, she's so affectionate. This gal thrives on a predictable routine that includes lots of walks and mental stimulation to get out her energy. Because of this, she would do best in a home without young children. Nugget can't wait to find her furever humans! Apply today to meet her! If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Story
Rodney is a very curious, mischievous little guy who gets into everything, just like a little puppy. They say this guy is around 8 years of age and weighs 12 pounds, but he acts like a kid and he shows it by running a lot out of pure joy and fun and he adores being outdoors and laying in the sun. He is not good on a leash yet and is not housebroken but we are working on both. Cats are not welcome in his world at this point because he finds them strange and annoying.  But he redeems himself with a family by loving to cuddle and snuggle.  Can you believe that underbite he has?  I mean it is the first thing you sort of notice about him.  It might make him look tough but Rodney is a 'softie' through and through.  He is just an adorable, sweet pup and he deserves a much better home than the hoarding conditions that he came from.  Maybe you want to help him see the blessings of a new home and secure lifestyle.  He will make you laugh, he will make you smile and he will make you feel loved!  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in giving him a forever home.  Please tell us the city and state that you live in when you write to us. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
My name is Prince Charlie and I am truly a dog with some royal habits in my everyday life.  I was found on a rural back road in Tennessee and I just think that somehow my owners were misguided in dropping me off in the middle of nowhere.  They didn’t explain but I think it was financial problems.  But apparently the vet says that I am an adorable 8-year-old cream-coloredPug/Chihuahua boy with a heart of gold! I really don’t weigh much at all and the scales at the vet said 13 pounds.  What I can say is that I am a strong and “bounce back “ boy that is ready to make your life happier and more loving with me by y our side. But listen up.  I may be 8 years old, but I have a whole lot of energy to spare and so “senior” movements are not what I am all about at all.  I can have the zoomies like the best of the youngsters out there.  Hey…maybe they guessed my age wrong.  Anyway, calling me a senior is maybe just in age but I don’t act like one and I don’t intend to.  I am a boy that you can take out on walks, hikes, or social events outside and I will help you make more friends than you could ever imagine.  I love all the dogs and cats at my foster home.  I just love anything and everyone!  The one thing that I am still learning after a short time in my foster home, is the house-training skills.  But I can say that I am eager to please and so I am a great student trying to pass my house training exam.  I am ready to be your fun machine, your love machine and your friendship matchmaker.  Consider adopting me and you won’t regret it.  Just email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   They will quickly send you an application for adoption.  You don’t want to miss out on me.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 26, 2024, 2:09 pm
