Story
**Potential adopters must fill out the questionnaire at the end of the bio and forward to graciabutter@gmail.com. Fall in love with Josie’s picture? She certainly has the cutest little face! In addition to her adorableness, she has the most curious sniffer and the longest tongue. Truly a character. But beyond her looks is an adult dog who likely had little to no interaction with people. Feral would be the most suitable word to describe her when she first came to ARR. She is not aggressive but fearful. Over the last few months, Josie has learned that it’s ok to be touched, that people offer tasty treats (that she’s happy to take when she gets to know you), how to walk on a leash, and she even jumps in a lap and is ok with being held. What does Josie enjoy? Lying on the couch watching everything. Following her favorite person around (the cutest little shadow following close behind). Seeing her favorite person (makes your heart happy to see her excited). Learning and working for treats. Small happy dogs; but she’s comfortable with big dogs too. Men over women; but she makes the most progress with the person who takes her out of her comfort zone. And she is even starting to enjoy being pet. She is still a big work in progress but she wants to love people; she just needs the next person who can continue teaching her that the big world isn’t so scary, and people are actually pretty cool. She’s one of those dogs you just have to meet to understand. Josie is currently being fostered by a local trainer. Her adopter will need to be dedicated to continuing her training and socialization. If you are not comfortable with having her on a leash 100% of the time for several weeks then she likely is not the dog for you. It will take weeks to months for Josie to learn a whole new house and get comfortable, but in the long run, she will be your biggest fan and is the easiest little shadow to have around. ****Answers to the questionnaire must be emailed to GraciaButter@gmail.com. Please tell us a bit about yourself/family • What city do you live in? • Do you rent or own? • Any children in the home? What ages? List all family members living in home • What is your work schedule? Family schedule? Will your schedule change? • How many hours per day would the pet be left alone? • Where is pet kept when left alone? • Where does the pet sleep? • Any other pets in the home? If so, what type/breed? • How often will the dog be exercised? • If the dog becomes ill or injured are you financially prepared to provide medical care? • Are you prepared to care for this dog for its life span of 10-15 years? • Do you have a training plan? Please explain. • Do you have a plan in place in the event that something happens and you are no longer able to care for the dog? • Prior to adoption, an up-close video of your fenced yard will be required - the entire perimeter including gates and the bottom of the fencing. Yard must be free of foxtails and fully secured. • Home check may be performed • If "meet & greet" is scheduled, all household members, dogs included, must be present.

Story
I am a super sweet dog, good with dogs, kids, and cats. I am quiet and low energy and just want to snuggle. my dad went in to a nursing home and his kids wanted to just kill me because I was an inconvenience in their life. I don't take up much space, and I promise to love you~ I have very strict home requirements as I am an older gentlemen, I do not want a home with young children or lots of noises. My foster family want the best home for my golden years

Story
Copper is a very active, intelligent, and curious young dog. I've had him for about a year and didn't realize how much energy he had. He'll require some space to run around to let out his pent up energy. He'd be perfect for an active person or couple who want furry buddy to accompany them on all their adventures. He's potty trained, microchipped, knows basic commands and leash etiquette. He doesn't like to be left alone and will cry-howl for a while before tiring himself out, which might not be great if you live in an apartment or townhouse. He loves to be pet and combed, loves to play tug of war and fetch, and likes to snuggle up with his people. He has a drive to stash things. He'll hide bones, toys, and socks under beds, shoved into corners, buried under clothes. He's really is an amazing dog, but my lifestyle no longer fits his needs and I wanted to find a home that he would be able to thrive in.

Story
Beautiful Nellie is waiting to be your new best friend! She is a gorgeous, 2-year-old, 13 pound, golden colored, silky, coated, Papillion / Terrier mix ?. This pretty girl has light warm brown eyes. Her pointed ears add so much character to her face. Her gorgeous coat is soft to the touch. She will require regular brushing and occasional professional grooming. She was surrendered to AFC with her 3 puppies: Billy, Brutus and Graham, when their owner went off to college and left this little family behind. Nellie has been well loved and is an amazing companion. She wants to go everywhere you go. She gets excited when she sees the car keys come out! She loves to go for walks and enjoys riding in the car. Nellie is a special girl and will need an active, loving family. She is housebroken. She gets along well with other dogs her size or smaller. She would be fine as an only dog, as she loves to be the center of attention, though you would need to work from home. She is scheduled to be spayed and is microchipped and up to date on shots. Ready for the perfect girl? Nellie is ready for you! Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5.
