Story
Some dogs steal your heart with big, bold personalities. This sweet 5 year old 40 pound Pomeranian/Husky mix does it with her quiet spirit. She may be shy when meeting new people, but beneath her timid exterior is a gentle, loving soul just waiting to blossom. All she needs is a patient family willing to let her move at her own pace and show her that the world can be a safe, happy place. Her biggest source of comfort is other dogs, so she must have a confident canine companion in her forever home. She looks to her furry friends for reassurance and gains confidence by following their lead. With another dog by her side, she’s already learning that people can be kind and life can be full of good things. She enjoys peaceful days, soft beds, quiet walks, and the simple joy of being near those she trusts. Every small milestone—a wagging tail, a curious glance, or choosing to come over for affection—feels like a huge victory. If you have a loving home, a friendly resident dog, and a heart full of patience, you’ll have the incredible privilege of watching this beautiful girl transform into the happy, confident dog she was always meant to be. Sometimes the most rewarding adoptions are the ones that take a little time. She is more than worth the wait. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK/EWR💟 The prices listed are based on USD, and the adoption fee will be calculated in CAD according to the exchange rate. Meet Ruki🌟 💙 Name : Ruki 💙 Gender : Male 💙 Age : Estimated 1 year old (Born in May 2025) 💙 Weight : 5.1 kg / 11.2 lb 💙 Adogs News Account: @_adogs_ 1. Health Condition * Neutered. * Microchipped and heartworm negative. * Due to consistent treatment, Ruki has completely recovered from his skin disease and the darkened skin has become pink again. 2. Rescue Story * Ruki, a puppy of #AdogsMiso was rescued from a hoarder’s home in Gimje, and was transferred to the Gimje City Shelter. Ruki already had a skin disease and wasn’t able to get proper treatment at the shelter, so Adogs rescued him before it worsened. 3. Basic Information * With People: Is shy with new people but doesn’t bark or show signs that he dislikes them. Isn’t comfortable with human touch yet, so he must be cornered before he can be petted. However, he accepts it nicely once you actually touch him. Still needs more time to become comfortable since he’s timid. Lives and moves around comfortably around familiar people. Lately, has been opening up a bit; when called, he comes over, takes a quick sniff, and then walks away. * With Dogs: Got along well with no issues with the other dogs at our center. * With Cats: Unknown because he hasn’t met them yet. * Separation Anxiety: Stays calm when he’s left alone at his foster home. * Potty Training: Currently potty trained indoors at the foster home. Since he has coprophagia (eating poop), medication is being administered. A training method that gradually narrows down the potty area works best * Grooming & Hygiene: Accepts baths and brushing very calmly. However, during a vet visit for a nail trim, Rookie got scared and had a potty accident. The vet recommended managing nail care at home as much as possible, as Rookie is cautious and easily frightened. * Leash Walking: Since outdoor walks haven't been experienced yet, it's hard to say for sure. After wearing a harness/leash for about 3 hours once, Rookie seemed to develop a fear of leashes—reluctant to move and shedding tears whenever a leash is put on. The foster home is currently working on helping Rookie get comfortable with the leash. * Car Sickness: Has a bit of motion sickness so care is needed. * Biting: Since he is very fearful, he may nip defensively depending on the situation. Caution is required. May nip when having his bottom wiped. With familiar people, he doesn’t tend to bite, even in defense. When having his hind feet touched, he gets mouthy, but endures it despite not liking it, if you act hurt. * Biting: Might whimper if you try to hug him against his will. Also tends to "cry" or whine to let you know when he has had a potty accident and need it cleaned up. Has only barked once after moving to his foster home when he became startled from the sound of the alarm clock. * Likes: Likes treats but the vet suggested to cut back on them. So he’s only being fed a small amount. Likes to be touched on face. * Dislikes: Is scared of loud noises and becomes afraid if you move your hands downwards suddenly. Whines and expresses discomfort if you try to hold him forcibly. May have potty accidents if you set him down on the floor in areas with many people or at the vet. If you hold him with his bottom well supported, he feels safer. Is uncomfortable with having his front paws touched. * Personality: Is extremely gentle and sweet natured. Tends to be fearful and timid, but has adapted well to a home environment at his foster home. Is accepting of touch once he becomes familiar with the environment.
