Story
Ginger is an amazing dog and would make the perfect lone-pet...meaning, NO OTHER PETS! For the most part, she gets along with our other dog and xxxx@xxxx.x we had first. On occasion, however, she'll go after the other dog (German Shephard), and last night went after the cat. Which sadly, lands us here. So again, Ginger would make an absolute awesome lone-pet addition to a loving, caring home! NO OTHER PETS!! Ginger is a Designer Breed. She's half Pomeranian and half Shiba Inu. She's beautiful. She was a very expensive dog. She's 6 years old and weighs roughly 14 pounds. She is house-trained, immunizations are up-to-date, loves long walks, loves to nap, loves people...she's a lap-dog for sure! Ginger is crate trained, and spends time in her crate when we are going to be out of the house more than a couple hours, and sleeps in her crate at night. She does perfectly fine out of the crate, and the crate would not be necessary if she were a lone-pet, but that's completely up to you.

During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Banzai, affectionately known as "Buddy" is believed to be a Pomeranian and Cairn Terrier mix. He's an adult dog, exact age unknown, as he was found running stray. Buddy is potty trained, walks well on leash, and sleeps in his crate. He is a true velcro, usually found in his foster mom's shadow. He is spry, likes to run and play outside and does puzzles and plays with his kong too. He guards his food from other dogs,  so he needs to be fed separately from other pets or to be an only. He gets protective of his fav person, so adopters will need to understand that and work with him to be comfortable with others. He is great with house guests and warms up quickly with treats!   The groomer says he is always well-behaved and we know he enjoys being brushed. He will jump in the car anytime you open the door and quickly settles in for the ride. He's the perfect companion, always up for a walk or to snuggle up near you for a snooze on the couch. He loves to be near his people!  Banzai would probably be happiest in a home with no or older kids that will give him space when he needs it. He barks when people come to the door, and rarely barks otherwise now that he knows the all the sounds in his foster home. Banzi is available through One Dog At A Time. Thank you for considering adoption through ODAAT. Our dedication to our animals goes beyond finding them a home; we aim to match them with families where they will thrive and receive the love and care that they so desperately deserve.  We believe in finding not just homes, but forever families for our beloved animals. Our thorough adoption process is designed to ensure that each furry friend finds the perfect match based on their unique needs and personalities. Please know that we do not rush this process, as we prioritize compatibility over speed. Your patience and understanding as we work towards finding the ideal match for both our rescues and your family means the world to us.
