Story
fostered in King William, VA. Benjamin is a blonde-and-white fluffball with a velvety coat and the softest expression you've ever seen. At 4 years old, he’s mastered the art of charm. He’s the calm, gentlemanly leader of his bonded pair, always looking out for his sweet companion, Lemon. Benjamin is a friendly and affectionate little guy who loves to be the center of attention—but in a polite, irresistible way. He’s playful without being rowdy, and he enjoys short walks, light daily activity, and lots of snuggles. He’s content relaxing by your side or curled up next to Lemon, preferably in bed with his foster at night. This pup is quiet by nature—he rarely barks—and is perfectly crate trained and house trained, though he may occasionally mark his territory in a new space. He's also just getting the hang of leash walking and is making great progress. Benjamin is food and praise motivated, which makes continued training easy and rewarding. He gets along well with other dogs, strangers, and children of all ages, though he may prefer a home without loud or overly rambunctious kiddos. He thrives in a calm, loving environment where his affectionate personality and leadership role in the Benjamin–Lemon duo can shine. Benjamin and Lemon are looking for a home together where they can continue to thrive as the perfect pair—one a little bolder, one a little bashful, both entirely lovable. Included Veterinary Care: - Visit to veterinarian for health certificate - Up to date on vaccinations for her age - Neutered - Microchipped - Heartworm preventative - Flea and tick preventative - Worm/parasite treatments

Story
fostered in King William, VA. Lemon is a dainty, darling little lady with a soft black coat, sweet white trimmings, and a heart as gentle as her name. At just 8 pounds, this 4-year-old pup may be small in size, but she’s filled with quiet affection and grace. Naturally shy, Lemon takes her time to feel safe and comfortable in new surroundings. Once she does, her affectionate side blossoms—and her bond with you will be strong and sincere. She's especially attached to her best friend Benjamin, and the two of them are inseparable. Where Benjamin leads, Lemon follows, and together they make the perfect pair. Lemon has balanced energy—she enjoys playtime in the backyard, gentle walks, and quiet time snuggled up with her humans and Benjamin. She’s crate trained, working on her leash skills, and motivated by food and praise. Lemon is wonderful with other dogs, strangers, and respectful kids of all ages, though she would thrive most in a calm, steady home where she’s given time to warm up. If you’re looking for a loving duo to bring comfort, joy, and a little extra fluff into your life, Lemon and Benjamin are ready to fill that space—with a few tail wags, soft snuggles, and a bond that can’t be broken. Included Veterinary Care: - Visit to veterinarian for health certificate - Up to date on vaccinations for her age - Spayed - Microchipped - Heartworm preventative - Flea and tick preventative - Worm/parasite treatments

Story
Meet Fabulous Finnegan – The Southern Gentleman with a Heart of Gold   If you’ve ever wished for a loyal companion who greets you like you’re the best part of his day, look no further than Finnegan—affectionately known as Finn. This 5-year-old Pomeranian mix is the very definition of charm, resilience, and grace.   Finn’s story began with deep love—he was adored by his original owner, a kind human who gave him a peaceful and happy home. Sadly, when his person passed away, Finn’s world was turned upside down. Instead of comfort, he was forgotten—left alone in the hot sun, confined to a crate for endless days until a compassionate rescue stepped in and gave him a second chance.   Despite the neglect he suffered, Finn remains a gentle soul. He’s a 20-pound lap lover with a soft, plush coat and stunning coloring that makes him just as beautiful on the outside as he is on the inside. He gets along well with other dogs, but honestly? He’d be perfectly content being your one and only. Children are fine too—as long as they’re a bit older (10+), quiet, and respectful of his need for calm.   Finn is looking for a home that echoes the peace he once knew—where life moves at a slower pace, and his favorite activity is simply being with you. He’ll be the one waiting patiently at the door, the one curled beside you on the couch, the one who makes coming home the best part of your day.   Finn is proof that love can be rediscovered, and he's ready to give his heart again. All he needs is someone to offer theirs in return.   Are you ready to make Finn’s next chapter the best one yet?   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 12, 2025, 1:21 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm
