Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 15, 2024, 12:36 pm

Story
Stop, look, listen! Ransom is adorable! But he is only available to someone who has extensive experience with dogs who have Ransom's behavior issues. Yes, he's as soft as a stuffed toy and just as cute and is a very smart, affectionate little guy. But he's quirky. Originally aged at 12 years old by the shelter where he was turned in as a stray, we agree with our vet team that he’s more likely about 8 years old. Ransom loves to keep watch over the neighborhood as much as he loves being cuddled. He’ll use his paw to pull your hand to his face to stroke him. We initially thought he needed to be an only pet but since he was neutered, he is doing much better. We have taken things very slowly with him and the other dogs here. When he first met the other dogs, he was territorial and showed resource guarding towards humans. We have worked with him and he has made great progress. He learns quickly and really wants to please. He knows sit, wait, watch, and come, walks nicely on the leash and is perfectly crate and house trained. Ransom needs a very special adopter. Please read our Senior Moments post to learn about him: https://www.flfosenioranimals.org/post/ransom-notes FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD. Thank you for understanding.

Story
Murphy was adopted from CVAS several years ago and was recently returned due to a divorce. He is 3 years old and weighs 32 pounds. Murphy is an active, lovable guy that would love to have a second chance at a loving forever home! Murphy does have a high chase drive so a home without cats and small animals would be best. He did reside in a home with other dogs and did well with them. He did live with older children and did well with them in his previous home. Murphy loves to get brushed! He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and loves going out to the play yard to run! Murphy is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped. Story
Braeleigh is a cute Pomeranian puppy who found her way into her foster's life back in February. They searched high and low for her previous owners, but had no luck. This sweet girl is playful and loves to interact with other animals. She gets along well with cats. Braeleigh is also a social butterfly with dogs, especially playtime with larger dogs. She's potty trained for the most part, with occasional accidents, and is making progress with crate training, settling down nicely at bedtime. Currently, Braeleigh is learning commands, she's already responding to her name and shows intelligence and eagerness to learn. Her favorite pastimes include chasing her tail, playing with plush toys, and enjoying a peanut butter-filled shin bone as a treat. Her foster notes that she doesn't chew on anything! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
