Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fostering is a very important part of rescue because it allows more animals to be saved. There is a capacity on how many dogs Peace Love & Poms Rescue can have at one time and sadly we can’t save every dog that needs our help. Every foster home that welcomes a foster dog, opens a space at the rescue so that another dog can be saved.  Fostering also provides an in-home experience, which makes the dog that much more adaptable.  Fostering is extremely rewarding and you are helping to save innocent lives.  PA Kennel License 17652 Lebanon, PAVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 12:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Steely is searching for his perfect home! This 7(we think) year old 14-pound boy is healthy, but he does have quirks. Not much is known about his background, but we know his history since March 2023. He was sent to a Pittsburgh shelter for emergency boarding. After 2 months with nobody coming back to get him or return calls, he was abandoned in the shelter. That’s when we were contacted. Shelter life was not good to him, and he was starting to act out and become aggressive to the staff and other dogs. Steely is easily excitable so we started medication to help him level out. After a month with his foster family, he has started to calm down, not be so reactive, and learn how to be a loved house dog. He needs a patient parent who will help build his confidence and not force anything on him. He does not like surprise sudden movements towards him, which has caused him to lash out. He responds well to praise and high value treats, but it has taken him time to warm up to new people and settle into a new environment. Steely is house trained to go on the pee pads, crate trained at night, rides well in a car, loves his chewies, and eats very well. He is great on a leash and will walk by your side. Despite his anxiety, he is good with grooming and tolerates vet visits. He does not like large dogs! He does OK with other dogs his size and smaller, but we think he will be best suited as the only dog in the house. He loves to have all of the attention on him, and will sit in your lap for pets. He can get a little nippy if he feels like you're not paying enough attention. Because of this, Steely cannot go to a home with children and would do best in a home that will continue to work with him and help him be the best boy he can be. Once Steely settles in, recognizes you, and trusts you, he will be your constant companion. To adopt Steely, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pogo is a stunning black and tan Pomsky who has found himself in several homes in his short life. In one home he did have a shock collar used which left him with a wound on his neck that has long since healed. He is 3 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Pogo takes time to adjust to a new home and new people so you must have patience during the transition phase. He will also need a spot that is his safety zone whether a crate or room that is designated for him to use when he gets scared or overwhelmed. This provides a healthy way for him to leave situations and calm himself. This boy is smart and HIGHLY ENERGETIC! Pogo does require a fenced yard as he needs a space to burn off his energy. He would be perfect for competitive agility or lure coursing because he is fast, healthy, and agile. Pogo needs a very active home that will fulfill his physical and mental needs. This boy is also HILARIOUS! He is so quirky, fun, and is sure to make you laugh everyday. Pogo is great with other playful dogs too; he plays just right with the super small furkids and the big furkids like him. He also loves to get the other dogs to chase him, that is his happiest time when he is in the lead with dogs on his heals. The downside to Pogo is he has a lack of impulse control so he likes to get into things (this is a work in progress), but a quick squeak of a ball and toss, he will drop what he is doing to fetch. He is also reactive to new people which is all vocal, but it can be scary for the person so he will need continued socialization and positive reinforcement to overcome his fear. In fact, once he bonds to his human he listens well and focuses on them which makes for a great time being out and about without him having issues. He is great for grooming with a little calming medication and the same for vet visits. He does enjoy car rides, and he has learned how to use a crate properly too. So if you are looking for a wild child, who needs a little help broadening his horizon then Pogo is the boy for you! We have sure enjoyed having him here in rescue, but it is time for him to find his forever home... To adopt Pogo, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), bloodwork, fecal, microchip, neuter, and all the love and laughs you can handle! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Miwak who is looking for his happily ever after! Miwak came to us from the NYACC a bag of bones, bald, and smelling of death. He was in such terrible condition we actually thought he was a Chinese Crested with severe skin allergies, but a DNA quickly showed that he is a Pomeranian with 9% Poodle in there. Turns out Miwak was suffering from EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), allergies, and a skin infection. We got him fixed up, on prescription food with added enzymes, and poof a fluffy coat appeared! He will need to stay on a prescription diet with added enzymes for life as well as a few medications for allergies, but besides that he is a healthy estimated 7 year old, 14 pound boy ready for a home of his own. Miwak has been sick for a long time so now that he is feeling better, he acts like a playful puppy again. He loves toys, walks, and other furry playmates to romp with. He does like to lift his leg and claim everything as his, but a bellyband is a simple tool to keep that pee contained while he continues working on housetraining. Miwak is shy with new people but after a few minutes he will be your best friend! This guy is truly a unique looking boy with so much life and love to share.... he just needs a family to do it with. Will that be you? To adopt Miwak, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle! Pippin is young, full of bouncing puppy energy, and eager to learn new things! Before coming to rescue, he lived outside and he found his way to us when the finder of his brother Gimli Ii discovered his owner was losing their home and he needed a new place to go. Pippin still learning life in a home as he lived outside so house training is a work in progress, but he's getting the idea quickly. Pippin is healthy, but was treated for Lyme disease and made a full recovery. He will require a securely fenced yard to burn of his energy in, and an active family who can keep up with him! He could definitely be a performance pom with agility or FastCat because he has the speed and drive to do amazing things in his life. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We are officially opening up applications for Chocolate Charlie! Charlie must have a kid free home because he does have a bite history outside of our care. He must have a fenced yard area to use during his settle in/decompression time, and he must have a room that is his in the home to decompress and escape to when he is overwhelmed. These things must be in place prior to the home visit! Charlie does like other small dogs, but the really young dogs that are bouncing on him are not cool and cause him to freak out. So dogs that are about his age of 3 and size around 8ish pounds are good, or older small dogs are good too! He really does need another dog in his new home as it has been a huge advantage in his behavior rehab! Charlie is house trained, leash trained, does well in a car, prefers an xpen, but will use a crate. Charlie thrives with a routine and boundaries! He isn't always a snuggly boy, so when he's done, he tells you by moving away, and you can not push him to continue being snuggly, or he will act out. We have used completely force free methods here and followed his cues, which proved successful for him and expect the same in a new home. Charlie can not take any meds for anxiety except gabapentin as anything else literally makes him crazy! He is on gabapentin twice a day, and it has been perfect for him. Chocolate Charlie is a highly trained little floof, so keeping him sharp on his commands is key to keeping him manageable and happy. He will need a patient home that lets him be while he settles in and learns to trust you! He isn't going to be a purse dog or your snuggle bug that you can dote on all day. He's independent, and seeks attention on his terms, which must be respected! He gives very clear signals of leaving the situation when he has had enough and should never be pressed further. If these requirements sound doable for you and your family, please complete an adoption application on our website! The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, and all the cuteness you can handle!
