Story
Cirrus is an estimated 4-year-old, 7-pound Pomeranian with a beautiful, fluffy white coat and a personality that's as unique as he is. He was named Cirrus because he looks like a little floating cloud, although this particular cloud has some opinions and isn't afraid to share them.
Cirrus was found wandering loose in Missouri City. His finder went above and beyond trying to locate his family, putting up posters, posting on social media, and even walking him around the neighborhood hoping someone would recognize him. Although Cirrus had a microchip, it was never registered, and despite everyone's efforts, no owner ever came forward.
Cirrus is a sweet, independent little guy who enjoys companionship but also appreciates having his own space. He gets along well with other dogs, although he isn't particularly interested in playing with them. He's perfectly content doing his own thing and relaxing nearby. He also has some opinions about cats and will bark at them, but hasn't shown any aggression toward them.
He walks well on a leash, rides nicely in a crate in the car, and has good house manners. Cirrus will even bark to let you know when he needs to go outside to potty. At night, he sleeps comfortably in his own dog bed at the foot of his foster's bed, happy to be close without needing to be the center of attention.
Cirrus tolerates baths, trimming, and having knots removed from his coat, but brushing is another story. He would like everyone to know that he did not personally approve of this particular grooming activity. Unfortunately for Cirrus, maintaining that magnificent cloud-like coat requires regular brushing, so his future family will need to be patient and work with him on making grooming a more comfortable experience.
Cirrus can be particular about how and when he's handled. He has done well with his foster family but did snap once when a child attempted to pick him up. Because of this, we feel he would do best in an adult-only home with someone who understands canine body language and respects his boundaries. He's not a dog who wants to be constantly picked up or fussed over, but he makes a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a more independent personality.
Cirrus arrived with a small cut on his nose that has since healed beautifully. He was also cryptorchid, meaning one of his testicles had not descended normally, but this was addressed during his neuter and he has recovered well. Interestingly, he also has a faded tattoo on his abdomen that may have been used for identification in his previous life, although his history remains a mystery.
Cirrus is fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm negative.
Cirrus is looking for a loving, patient home where he can enjoy his favorite things: leisurely walks, a comfortable bed, a predictable routine, and the freedom to be his slightly opinionated little self. He may look like a delicate cloud, but he's got just enough sass to keep life interesting.
