Story
Meet Loki 🤎 Loki is a 1-year-old pug terrier mix looking for a loving new home. This is an incredibly hard decision for our family, but due to personal and mental health challenges while navigating life alone with a baby during my husband’s military deployment, I need to relocate back home to Florida to be closer to family support. Unfortunately, managing everything on my own here in San Diego with the dogs and baby has become more than I can handle. Loki is a playful, affectionate, loving little guy with so much personality packed into a small body. He absolutely adores people and brings so much joy wherever he goes. He also has an older brother, Odin, a 2-year-old Rottweiler Shepherd mix, and they are very bonded. I would absolutely love for them to stay together if possible, but I understand that may not be realistic, and the most important thing is finding safe, loving homes for them.

Story
FTA app: https://form.jotform.com/201793643882060 The girl with the winning smile! Hey guys! I am Sussie, Sussie Q. I am a 4 year old, female Pug mix, spayed and about 11 lbs. Heard of the Chandler 55 case? Yes, I am a part of the disabled hoarded dog pack that was rescued from the monster house. With my sweet spirit and smile, you'd never guess what I have gone through. But only when you see my vet report! It's manageable I pawmise. I have Congenital Angular front limb deformity and Chronic orthopedic condition that affects mobility in hind legs that may have been caused by soft tissue injury that has healed. I do take dasuquin  for help. As long as I am being medically managed for mobility issues no surgery is necessary, but will not know know more until later. Surgery will be my adopter's financial responsibility if it is determined it is needed later by our future established vet. Regarding my training, I am leash trained for the 5-10 min walks I take due to leg deformities. The stroller with a soft blankie is my friend! I am pee pad trained. I am not crate trained. Now coming to my personality, the best part! My mama says that I am an absolute perfection! I love playing with dogs and toys, chewing on bones and sometimes your stuff haha but being all cute about it! I am a lap dog and you'd love my snuggles. If I could climb up on your shoulders and into your skin, I would do it! We can be best mates watching tv, all cuddling and being adorable. I am quite fond of dogs, but they have to have a sweet temperament because I can be the big mama. No cats please! I am very good with kids! I do get separation anxiety where I get anxious and scream, but having another dog completely calms me. I am obviously not a hiking dog, but I do make a good cafe date in my stroller. I am always grateful for my rescue and leaving behind that house of horrors. I do a lil dance when I get a new soft blanket and my zeal is infectious. I am the absolutely cutest little nugget that everyone falls in love with when they meet. I am looking for only the best home that will spoil me rotten because that is what this little princess deserves. If there are no dogs in the home I will need humans around for companionship. Any DINK couple around that likes to bring their dog everywhere with them? I am looking for a home with the best chew bones, softest blankets, and good sunbathing spots. If you think you have that X-factor, let's go get a drink together! My adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Meet Dillinger: A Gentle Soul Finding His Brave 💚 Age: 1 Year Weight: Under 20 lbs Status: Crate & Potty Trained Dillinger is the definition of "worth the wait." This sweet boy traveled all the way from a vet clinic in Mexico to find his forever family, and he is making incredible strides every single day. While he may start off a little shy, once he knows he’s safe, he transforms into the most affectionate, cuddly companion you could ask for. His Personality: Dillinger is a gentle soul who is currently blossoming. He is learning how to play and is discovering that the world is a fun, kind place. He is a "velvet dog" who thrives on physical affection—if you’re looking for a dedicated snuggle buddy to keep your lap warm, Dillinger is your man. Social Life & Training • Dogs: He does very well with other dogs! He would be happy as an only dog or would thrive with a confident "big brother or sister" to show him the ropes. • Children: He is slowly and gently learning to trust kids. • The Basics: Dillinger is already crate and potty trained, making his transition into a home much smoother. • Confidence Building: He is currently working on his leash skills. New environments can be a little intimidating for him, so he’s looking for a patient human who will lead with positive reinforcement. The Ideal Home 🏠 Dillinger would do best in a home that understands the "slow and steady" approach. He needs a family that will celebrate his small victories—like the first time he initiates play or walks confidently down a new block. In return, you’ll get the loyalty and love of a dog who truly appreciates being rescued. Ready to help Dillinger continue his journey? Dillinger is ready to leave his shell behind and move into your heart. Apply to meet this resilient, sweet boy today!

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Do you have a heart for animals who have had a rough start to life? Meet Mocha, a 10-month-old, 17 pound pug mix. We don’t know what conditions she lived in before coming to us, but they have left her timid and scared of humans. She needs someone who will be patient and help win her trust and heart. It will not be a quick process. One tip to winning her heart is treats in a quiet location. She is a very sweet dog who is house-trained and crate-trained. She is not leash-trained at all. She gets along well with other dogs, but young/active kids will add to her fear.  She needs a quiet house that is calm. Despite her fear, she does not bite. She will just run and hide. She does not like being picked up, but it is so rewarding when you win her trust, and she finally relaxes next to you and nudges your hand to be petted. She is Spayed and up to date on vaccinations for her age.  Her adoption fee is $350.  A refundable training deposit of $100 will be also due upon adoption. Training must be provided in a timely fashion to ensure our pups become the best canine citizens. The training deposit will be refundable within 3 months of the adoption date. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  March 7, 2026, 5:42 pm

Story
This girl smiles with all her teeth when she gets excited. We think she's a 2ish year-old pug mix who radiates pure joy. She's potty & crate trained, a quick learner, loves her toys, and is equally happy snuggling up close. Shy at first, but once she warms up, she's your shadow for Life.
