Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Layla is a very shy, timid dog who will require a patient and understanding adopter. She came from a hoarding situation and has not had the opportunity to experience the stability and consistency of a normal home. As a result, she can become overwhelmed by excessive movement, activity, or commotion in the household. Layla is a very sweet dog, but she is not an immediate-confidence dog. Her adopter must be prepared to give her the time she needs to decompress, adjust, and build trust. She may initially be fearful and reserved, and she should never be rushed or pressured into interactions before she is ready. Layla would do best in a quiet, calm home with another small, friendly dog who can provide companionship and help her feel more secure. A busy household would not be appropriate for her. A securely fenced yard is required for Layla.  Layla is a sweet girl who deserves the opportunity to feel safe and learn what a loving home is. She will need an adopter who is willing to respect her boundaries, allow her to progress at her own pace, and give her the time she needs to become the dog she is meant to be. REQUIREMENTS: Another small dog,  Fenced Yard Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
I got Gizmo as a puppy. Since I have gotten him, I have had to have multiple foot surgeries and have been unable to provide him with the training and physical exercise he needs.Gizmo is a stubborn and sassy dog who loves to play. Sometimes he tries to playfully bite your hand. When he does this, I tell him to go get a toy and he typically does listen to that. Sometimes he likes to have his own time and sometimes he likes to be as close to you as possible. He has a difficult time respecting the space of others, including pets and children. He can be very vocal. He doesn’t like to be left alone. In terms of house training, I have trained him to use a doorbell to go out. Sometimes he doesn’t want to go out when it’s raining, but he loves the snow. I do have an issue with him marking and sometimes he does do this in the house.I think he would benefit from one on one attention. I’m unable to provide that as I have another dog in the household too. But he does love to play with her.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lewistown, PA  Kennel License # 18167,  Sophie is a young pug, possibly mixed with chihuahua, who came to ODAAT painfully skinny. With good care and love, she is now back to a healthy weight and full of joyful energy. She is a high‑activity girl who loves movement, car rides, and being part of whatever is happening. Sophie gets super wiggly when held and is often too excited to sit still, but that enthusiasm comes from a heart that is ready to bond deeply once she knows she is truly home. She would happily play with toys and needs help with potty training, especially after previously being kept in a crate for long hours. Surrendered by her owner, Sophie is discovering what real companionship feels like. She has every bit of potential to grow into a snuggly, devoted little shadow for the right family. She would thrive in a home that enjoys activity as much as she does and can help her channel her energy in positive, fun ways. With patience, structure, consistency and love, she will blossom into the wonderful companion she was always meant to be. When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are reviewed prior to choosing an adopter, and this process takes time. We do not adopt out on a “first come, first served” basis. Applications can be found on our website: www.onedogatatime.us  . Good with dogs,
Story
Say Hello to Miss Clara! Miss Clara is an approx. 6-year-old Panda Pug, weighing 16lbs, rescued from a commercial breeder and life of breeding. Miss Clara is a sassy, sweet and funny girl that is loving life and all the pets and attention she can get! She will happily sit beside you on the sofa if not on you! Just look at that face…she is a Beauty! Clara enjoys exploring the world around her with walks on a leash (temperature permitting) with her tail waving the entire time! Because of her love for adventure, she would do best in a securely fenced yard where she can safely satisfy her curiosity. She will steal your heart very quickly!! Her foster mom really thinks she is a Great Girl! Clara resides currently with three resident dogs and a bird. She is great with all size dogs! Clara is doing well with house training and does go outside regularly to potty, but will need someone to keep her on a routine so she can be the best girl. Regression is expected when moving into a new forever home. Clara may be a little shy when you first meet her, but once she feels safe, she warms up quickly. Clara is kept in a play pen area (no crates for this girl) when foster family is not home, although she is not a fan. She would prefer someone that is home more than not. She does sleep in bed at night with her family! Clara is Spayed, microchipped, has had a dental and UTD on vaccinations. When she had her dental, Clara did lose all her teeth except 3. When it is time to eat, all you need to do is wet her kibble approximately 30 minutes prior and she will happily gobble it up. She does, of course, enjoy some wet food on top. Is this precious Clara girl the right fit for you and your family? Visit www.zoeshouserescue.com to apply today! • Please note: Clara is being fostered in Sinking Spring, PA. A separate meet and greet with the potential adopter and all resident pets are required near Sinking Spring prior to final approval, as well as pickup for adoption.

Story
Meet Bates, a little puppy with a big personality who will still be a very manageable size when full grown. If you’ve been waiting for a charming small- to medium-sized pup, Bates may be your guy.   Bates’ breed results showed that he is 42 percent Australian Cattle dog as well as small amounts of 19 other breeds. Pug was the second highest at 13 percent, and he had small percentages of many other small breeds including dachshund, chihuahua, beagle, rat terrier and cocker spaniel. Bates’ parents were both around 30 lbs, so we think he’ll be 30-something lbs when full grown. Bates and his brother Wilder are the sweetest and most fun little boys who are attached at the hip. If they’re not following their foster mom everywhere, then they’re following each other. They love jostling over toys, and then collecting them all in their bed so they can take a nap with them. They love to snuggle with their toys, each other and their humans. They’re very friendly and affectionate with humans and other dogs. Bates loves treats and is very smart. Born May 19th, he’s almost fully potty trained and sleeps quietly in his crate at night at less than three months old. He is always looking to his foster mom for directions on what’s next. He’s very eager to please! If you’re looking for a good-natured puppy who will grow up and still be a very manageable size, please apply for sweet little Bates. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama, Pennsylvania and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!
